Damn, so many amazing American guitar players back then -- Leslie, Duane Allman, Terry Kath... And yeah, those EB-0 Jack Bruce basses. The drummer has a Keith Moon set up with the double bass drums and line of toms across the middle. Even plays like him. I also wonder why Rush didn't include this song on Feedback because I have to believe they played it back in the day. Would have been perfect for them.

It's about time,Justin. This is what I grew up on. LESLIE WEST was an awesome guitar player. I hope sometime in the future you listen to the 8 minute version. LIVE IN DETROIT. What can I say. I'm old school. With the likes of HUMBLE PIE - MOUNTAIN - FRANK MARINO AND MAHAGONY RUSH and so on.

Humble Pie Live at the Fillmore one the best live albums ever featuring Peter Frampton on guitar. Montrose was another great band.

Sunn was my amps, has a 200S head and two Orion cabinets. My bass at that time was a 70 Gibson EB3 and I still have it. Oh and Felix's wife shot and killed him in 1983 .Jim

When I saw Queen in 1976, the Leslie West band opened!!

It was too heavy to play over and under for that drummer. It hit too hard! Leslie hit the blues harder than anyone ever thought of. Harder than Anthrax or Exodus! Or candlemass! So glad to rediscover them. Wow.

Great video. First Mountain album is a masterpiece as far as I’m concerned. Leslie West had the best tone. First bass amp I owned was a Sunn coliseum amp with a 2x 15 cab. Used that for a couple years before I switched to Ampeg SVTs which I’ve been using since. Love the videos. Check out Theme for an imaginary western off the first Mountain album.

I always felt sorry for Steve Knight. Square peg in a ground pounding rock band. Actually he was an accomplished Jazz musician (bass, keyboards, trombone, tuba, also Banjo, & guitar). Initially, Mountain was Felix Pappalari's band, Leslie was just his protege, and he insisted on a Keyboard player and he knew Steve and brought him in. Urban legend was that Leslie hated Steve but he still brought Steve on stage to play from time to time after Mountain broke up. It sounds like behind the scene the band was pretty disfunctional.

The blonde dude on the keys looks straight out of private music school. 😂 awesome song used to crank it on my boom box in the early 80s. Right after I know a little by Lynyrd Skynyd on a mix tape. Followed by Black Sabbath Paranoid. Rock on.

So what’s the fuzzier? The guitars or his hair?

Great song. I like Leslie's vocals better on the studio recording also.

I've seen the first clip but not the second and best one IMO. Agree that fuzz was awesome. Would like to see the whole set on that one. Are you familiar with Mountain's "Never In My Life" from the same album?

*Black Sabbath* crowned "Godfather's of Metal" but wouldn't this song make it a tie for that title?
As a Pre-Teen loved this song and *Redbone's* "Maggie". Sabbath a couple years latter for me.
