- When Houston television anchor Melanie Lawson started feeling ill and coughing a few weeks ago, COVID-19 didn’t even cross her mind. She says she had been taking all the precautions - wearing a mask, washing her hands, social distancing - and she was floored when her doctor told her she had tested positive for the virus. Her symptoms quickly got worse, and she self-quarantined. Interestingly, Lawson’s doctor told her that wearing a mask may have saved her from an even worse case of COVID-19. #InsideEdition
It's funny that people who observe all the measures get covid but the careless ones just get lucky!

When you pick up food you don’t take off ur mask in the restaurant. And a lot of restaurants do curbside pickup where you don’t even leave your car
That is following safety guidelines. It sounds stupid but she wasn't wrong.
Maybe when she picked up the food she didn't sanitize the boxes, or her phone or something
probably got it from work, it doesn't really spread through surfaces

The symptom I’m most scared of is losing my sense of taste.
Nothing to worry about much as long as the taste will come back. You should be more scared of having permanent lung damage. For men, erectile dysfunction is scarier

I don't know how I haven't contacted It yet (knock on wood). I work in a hospital, have close contact with infected patients, handle dead bodies infected, CPR on covid + pts, work around coworkers who have been infected. And yes I have been tested in the past including antibody testing.

@Liam’s Adventures same, some of my teachers take their mask off because they're "6 feet away", which is obviously not working! I agree with you totally, and I have also tried talking to them. Fortunately, my dad was part of the covid school program and told my dad about this, so then he talked to the school's superintendent and he warned the teachers through a meeting and a weekly Monday announcement to wear a mask properly all the time
That only prevents you from transmitting the virus to others; it won't protect you. You need a particulate respirator rated N95 or higher to protect yourself from the virus.

I am a 68 year old woman who contracted COVID in Feb 2020. For me it was not life threatening but I still have a lingering cough especially when I exert myself. My symptoms were fatigue, cough and shortness of breath.
My husband and 6 others all got it from one person at work that pulls their mask down to talk. 🙄 this person is young, so she was fine. My husband is over 50.. he barely made it.

Samee i got sick when I had an emergency at my aunts house, not knowing my cousin had covid 19 and I went in and she didn't even tell me he had it. I got the virus late August and lost my sense of taste and smell, I had terrible headaches, bodyaches, and I was very tired and fatigued. Now after almost 4 months I have yet to fully recover from this virus, I still have not gotten my sense of smell and taste back and I had repetitive headaches for weeks and even months after I was diagnosed with it. This virus is no joke thankfully I didn't need to go to the hospital but it was still a very awful experience. Stay safe 🙏

Everything reacts differently with people’s body. You can drink coffee and collapse. Foreign drugs (good or bad) have major reactions in the body and anyone can react differently to anything. So remember that.

Be weary about leaving your mask in an area where someone may have unintentionally picked up and wore but realized it’s not theirs and they put it back not and saying anything. That’s cross contamination.

In New York high rise apartment is good place for spreading, if one infected go in lift the air in that box already contaminated for at least few hours after, and imagine if more than one asymptomatic carrier use that lift everyday.

She is lucky not having it worst. For me having 2 hours of sleep a day bone feeling like glass can't move at all or trigger uncontrolled cough. There was no way to even get comfortable. Sitting or laying down doesn't matter your screwed. Lucky for me i never lost my taste of smell so whatever food I could eat was the only thing that made me feel good.
