Based on a true story, this film follows the path of the Jonah Family in remembrance of the loss of their son, Jack, to a heroin overdose. I have prayed for Ruby tonight. Do not lose faith. One of my grandsons was addicted and it seemed almost hopeless. He has been free from drugs close to seven years. He is now living a productive life. It is amazing what God can do.

This was such a great movie. I found myself praying constantly through it for God to break the strongholds of addiction and be a lightning strike upon its head with a mighty blow. I also ponder on the thought of those who have passed as being with us....My husband died 12 years ago from kidney failure. Not every night, but most nights he is in my dreams. Many times he holds me. It is so real, I can feel how he felt and smell how he smelled.

Have a 55 year old daughter (my youngest) who fell to drugs in her teens. My guilt for having to leave her to work as a single mom had her fall into a group of older kids who were lost in their paths (drugs) or purpose. She did drugs throughout her 20's - her struggles were neverending. But she seemed to have two sides to her personality conflicting her behaviors. She turned to alcohol in her 30's. She through bottoming out found herself in AA. She has been clean for the past 18 years. She still struggles with her hard circumstances in life but her road is not ending yet. Needless to say, I HATE DRUGS THAT HAVE TAKEN SO MANY VALUED LIVES.

I haven't watched the movie yet, I started reading & found your comment. I pray our Lord gives you & your son the strength & courage to get through. You can only do as much as you can as a mother but pray your son asks Jesus for forgiveness & accepts Him into his heart. And asks Jesus to heal him. Don't ever stop speaking of Jesus to your son. Never stop praying. Believe & have faith.
This is why I've never tried anything not even weed. The risk of addiction and death is not worth it.

This is a very wonderful, beautiful, heartwarming and sensitive movie for everyone to watch, alhough the storytelling might not be clear to everyone.
The ones who lost a dear one, will understand more and easier situations in which the heart will be overruled by thinking and hurt feelings and missing.
Finding answers will remain difficult and sometimes even not possible, because one should find inner ease in combination with believe and trust.
Religious people might or can find comfort in believing, but the ones who are not religious have a hard job to keep clear thinking and straight feeling.
That is why people should keep caring for and loving other people, especially the ones who need understanfing !!!

A great movie showing how precious love can be to a person's life without which it can lead a person to try or seek anything to fill the void in his/her life. And the easiest alternative is to try drugs. Life ends after that. Show, support and shower people with love and they will never try drugs. Love builds a person up and gives one dignity, self-esteem, confidence and courage to take on the world.

No one chooses to grow up and be addicted to any drug of choice!! Sadly real life I've lost so many to being addicted and more than 1 life taking as of becoming an addict, Most don't understand they are miserable waking up just to get another fix every single day while no matter how much you love them they don't see themselves worth being loved and not in their right mind as drug of choice has fogged the brain along with depression quilt shame and being judged 💔what could I have done differently or more to help them that I lost to this sickness 💔

Also helping people learn to find & fix the roots of pain & deal with it rather than let it deal with you! The human body can survive only so much pain! But mismanagement with pain management, I would argue, causes many or most addicts! Wisdom is in handling it properly, but unfortunately too many Doctors are drug pushers, & it can be the prozacs & gabapentin's they prescribe, & get kickbacks, while those popular medications actually do nothing, & cause more adverse side effects & damage! People's pain isn't properly managed, but they are now conditioned to pop a pill, whether tylenol or heroin to take away their pain, when it often only masks it! And is too often found to have life altering adverse side effects! When a good Dr. teaches the patient to document every pain pill, the patient can better track & aid the doctor in tracking usage & benefits, as well as less chance for error. (Also an excellent practice for insuring your antibiotics get in in a systemically consistent way to get the best benefit as well) Long term use, as soon as effectiveness begins to wain, don't increase dosages, but change it up & try a different option for awhile!!! Always making note of every pill taken! This also helps the brain fight the pain battle so to say! Further it allows for the patient to better manage pain, & learn what pain will increase to the point of needing medications, & what pains will be best aided by Epsom salt baths & compresses, physical therapy & the tools learned there, ice therapy, & foods & nutrients that aid recovery, & decrease pain, massage therapy, etc etc! Instead they push pills! In too many heroin treatment programs, their treatment actually is to get them addicted to things like methadone, that the body & brain never stop craving, but heroin the cravings stop after 2 weeks! I have seen this in practice, & my son's & I have a number of saves under our belts, & those people are all doing great now! So much can be said for the things that are the cause of the effects we see, & thus something can be done! The first thing to solving a problem is to assess the problem, find the root cause! Then look to wise solutions, especially the ones proven to work! And by GOD'S Grace much is accomplished!

I'm from a family of addicts of many things and I can say addiction is not the root of the issue, it the choice someone makes trying to make the root stop causing misery. Too much water can kill you or not enough. I am not for the usage of drugs to stop misery. It is love, perfect unconditional love, not enabling codependent love, that sets captives free.

I lost two sons to a drug. My oldest was addicted to many pills whom the Drs prescribed for depression. He was on them for ten years. Checked ✅ nto the hospital yearly to be evaluated. These were drugs that had to be stepped down to get off of. His last visit to the hospital, they took him off all and sent him home. Next morning found dead
The Drs got him hooked and caused him to die.
My youngest son was recovering from a broken ankle and went to help a friends mom to fix her car. He was having pain in his foot. She gave him one of her prescription pain pills. He had a reaction to it and died. I think young people meed to have it in their education package to attend at least three sessions on drugs. And making a point of under no circumstances should they take a pill from another person. And to really question Drs prescribing drugs. It's not only street drugs that kill!!!!

I do not understand addiction. I am one of the lucky ones who will never have to go through it, as it seems to be a connection on a cellular level that only addicts suffer when they come into contact with the substance that affects them so strongly. I used to think it must be selfish and self-centeredness of the individual that caused this, as I have observed many friends and relatives and how they react, and really get into their addiction of choice, be it alcohol, tobacco, thc, morphine, etc., etc. I know many who are like myself, too, who just don't get it. I never judge anyone for their addictions, until it harms another. That is the line one should not cross. If they want to harm themselves, who can stop them? This life is full of injury and death comes to all. Everyone has their check out time. But I sure get judgemental when actual harm is done to another because some addict didn't keep their issue to themselves and is responsible for injury or death to an innocent. But if God is in control, the burden is not mine to judge, and I have witnessed miracles, therefore I totally believe we have a God who decides who stays here, and who goes home. Great film. Maybe opioids are not for everyone. They worked for me. So does a good shot or two of corn liquor. Most people will need anesthesia or a strong pain reliever at sometime in their lives. I say keep them all available, as one size does not fit all. To punish anyone by denying them pain relief because of the sensitivities of others is just wrong. May the God of the universe bless us all with wisdom and love.
