@Patrick MacBride what do you mean by no one has done anything?
If you're referring to fighting cancer, I'll let you know cancer treatment research gets the most funding out of all medical research areas, virtually everywhere in the world. There are hundreds of thousands of scientists doing Gods' work trying to find better ways to treat it, in every university worth naming in the world.
What needs to change are the public's perceptions and expectations. Cancer is highly complex but in some ways also very simple, it's quite the paradox.
Cancer is natural, although it can be..."boosted" by external factors. As your genetic material deteriorates throughout your life as your cells divide, cancer becomes inevitable, as it's a disease consisting of dysfunctional harmful cells, made this by faulty DNA. Actually, your immune system kills about 30 cancers per day before they spread, everyday, from your first breath to your last.
There is extremely little that physically distinguishes a cancerous cell from a healthy one, and no chemical compound (medicine) or spectrum of radiation will be able to target only and all cancerous cells.
People shouldn't be angry a miraculous anti-cancer pill or treatment hasnt been invented yet, such things are impossible with what we have now.
In a more or less distant future, nano robots will probably be able to target cancer cells much more eficiently than chemo or radiation, and genomic therapy will be able to prevent and some times actually cure cancer. These will be much better than what we have now, but still won't be 100% guaranteed sucess every time, no treatment ever really is.
