Iâm from Columbus. Theyâre living in a premiere suburb outside of the city. The good thing is that there are plenty of areas right outside of Dublin that have dramatically smaller prices! Look into Hilliard, Delaware, Marysville, Plain City or even Worthington north of Columbus. The commutes from those areas arenât bad at all depending on where the church is located in Dublin. Dublin is literally one of the most âeliteâ suburbs in Ohio. Lol Good luck and welcome to central Ohio! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
This couple is not in a financial situation to move, just had a baby. I think their reasons is really stupid. A pastor that doesnât agree with something and just leaves doesnât sound like a good pastor to me. Just really stupid and immature, blinded by their political views
Plain City, what a name! đ
@@wbae1340 Agreed! I don't like the changes happening in the world around me so I'm going to run away and now I'm not happy.
Maybe you should stop having babies, and stop feeling entitled, no one owes you anything, if you want to live in the expensive area be ready to pay for it, being a church person doesnât make you entitled to anything.
He does sound very entitled.
Wow you sound angry. I didn't sense any entitlement from this couple whatsoever. And I don't think they want to live in an experience area. They were called to worship. However, where I don't give them grace is not doing the research. I live in Columbus, and they have plenty of areas right outside of Dublin that they can afford to live in. 15 minute commute too depending on where the church is.
@@stevenporter863 I agree they sounded spoiled, entitled and bitter about what happened at their old church.
Kate and Erin youâre trying to live in a prestigious, high income neighborhood while living on average people money. I live here in a Columbus suburb and the growth is insane (especially with Intel moving in next door in new Albany). People are selling their houses to the highest bidder and the highest bidder is normally rental companies đł. Average rent in Pickerington is 2500 a month! Thatâs absurd but people pay it.
I work nights . My wife works days. No child care costs. Double income.26 years. It can be done.
who watches the kids during the day? dont you need to sleep some after night shift?
I did this several times in my lifetime. I don't recommend, especially for a family situation.. Yes, there are a few that can do it, most cannot. And I would also say the whole family will be affected in many ways, negatively by your lack of sleep, then family having to keep quiet in daytime, not to mention missing out on family daily events. Of course if you have no other options, but only temporarily, like, weeks-months, not a year or more.
We couldnât do that. No chance.
The stress in their voices will give them a heart attack
I live in the same area. Would recommend looking 15 minutes north east in Delaware. Comparable housing is cheaper and the property taxes are drastically lower.
Ahh I just commented recommending Hilliard, but Delaware is even better actually!!
Once again Dave goes easy on someone because he is a pastor they make 65k and they want to leave the free housing because it's dated. First world problems
I noticed that too. If it was a regular man making 40k his response would be different
I think its more because they cannot live there forever, and they probably have little to no privacy, and not enough space.
@@bettysmith4527 They could always pretend they live in a tiny house and think they are being very "modern". :) LOL. We lived in a fifth wheel with three kids for a couple of years while we were on deputation to go to the country where we went - and while my husband was finishing up his PhD. in Old Testament. I don't feel sorry for this couple. "needs updating?" Huh? And I didn't think 65K was all that bad for a youth or music pastor in a smallish church. In fact, I thought it was pretty good. I guess I'm out of touch.
We can't afford to live...in Columbus Ohio??? No debts making $65K you should be fine just live frugally. A $100K mortgage is less than $1k/month, that leaves you $3k a month for gas, groceries and utilities. $2500/month for rent?? really??
I was thinking đ€ the same thing. Something else is fishy. Lol
It's Dublin, Ohio. Very expensive yuppie area.
It's an emotional response more than anything. You can't buy a complete dump of a house for less than $1m where I live.
the numbers are off
Probably wanting to live in an expensive zip code they could not afford.
The world would be a better place if people would put their financial well being ahead of their petty egos, politics and fears.

That doesnât seem like a word a pastor should be using or acknowledging.
@@chaselesser3191I have a feeling that âwokeâ equals LGBTQ
Should be able to go north on 71 for about 20 minutes from Dublin and get something a lot cheaper.
My husband and I also decided to wait a year. Things are just so crazy and not just houses, everything else you need to set up your new house (furniture, paint, new appliances, moving expenses, etc.) is also going up. Patience is key if you don't have to move right now.
I donât understand why theyâre so stressed a $100k mortgage is affordable for them and they could pay it off quickly

Going from woke to broke đ
Woke to the woke.
Savings went up in smoke. It was no joke.
Woke= the church increased the rent
Also his advice was essentially âgod will provide you with everything below market valueâ
2500 a month on a 65K income is not affordable.
I live in an area where houses start at 1.5 million and apartments start at 500k. These aren't even nice properties. The only reason I'm here is because I grew up here but I will be leaving because it's currently above my salary. Sad to leave my family and community behind but that's just the reality of growing up.
So much this. My husband and I have been looking for over a year in the Columbus area. The only way we can find something decently sized in our price range is to move 40 mins + outside the city or live in a neighborhood where we are concerned about safety. The second is not an option as we are expecting our first child. We're dropping out of the home searching crowd for the time being. We've been super frustrated since we had a down payment ready to go, but we're finding peace in knowing we have reasonable rent in a good area, and we're planning to invest the down payment until things look better.
As someone from rural Colorado it blows my mind how different attitudes are around the country about travel times for work. For many of us a 30 minute commute is just so normal that a 45 minute drive isn't that big of a deal. Granted we have so many people that commute 1-2 hours to work in Aspen or Grand Junction that it just puts things in a different perspective.
Donât have kids you canât afford in the context of your income and location. I donât understand how people have kids they canât afford and canât give a life better than they have.

Of course not and everyone knows it
"Go back to your old job"
Nope... he's also completely out of touch with people earning that amount of money because he's part of the group buying houses with cash to rent them out to lower income people.
Nope
You say that like fairly priced rentals arenât a major help for lower income people who canât afford to buy.
Great advice from Dave
Slow downing in order to be rational.
100K? Columbus? I mean the average cost of a house where I live is 650K. And that house would have problems. Go get the 100k mortgage. Be happy. Sometime people worry about debt a little too much.
Columbus has a very low cost of living. Dublin is an expensive area but plenty of affordable options in other parts of town.
So he left an affordable place where they were doing good financially because it became too "woke". And the new area is too expensive?? Maybe go back where you were before? Looks like they rushed into this decision.

Pastors run from churches that aren't perfect, when those are the churches that need you the most. That may be why you're unsettled.
Sounds like he left because the church lost their values. It happens, and I donât blame them for leaving. I was in a church that lost their way. They lied to the congregation and kicked a youth pasted, his wife, son, and unborn baby out on the streets jobless and homeless. They went worldly and refused to listen to those who wanted to stick to values.
Time to move. You don't have a right to live anywhere you want if you can't afford to do so. It's the same thing with people who grew up in super expensive areas like the Bay Area and complain how they can't afford a home there. Growing up somewhere doesn't inherently give you the right to buy a house in that same area, sorry

They either need to live somewhere that is affordable based on their 65K a year income or she needs to go to work until her husband can at least double his salary. I never understood why women would want to stay home with their husbands making so little. There are plenty of women who work outside the home, are great mothers and raise wonderful children. My mother was one of them and I plan to continue working my six figure job once I return from maternity leave. Itâs unfortunate how some women feel they canât take care of their children and work.
Raising kids is a lot of work but in this society we live in today many canât be stay at home moms.
