You have got to the most creative rc CZcamsr ever. Your painting, building and 3d printing is always top notch. You and Josh are my favorite rc guys to follow. A lot of yours and Josh’s builds have kept me busy with saving and building of my own. Just finished my Phoenix and my Scx6. Thank you for all you do inspire us to be a better rc’er
I love these WOTB videos! Those locking hubs are so cool! Can't wait to get a set. That van is crazy! Hopefully you can get some snow soon to take it for a spin. Looking forward to that video.
Ah the memories of hopping out of the truck to lock the hubs, but one has pressure on it, and it won’t turn. Back in the truck, move it up a foot, hop out and try again…. The van looks amazing! I learned that putting your vehicle outside a couple of hours before you are planning a snow run, helps it from getting all clogged up with snow as bad as if it were warm.
Ok I'm mind blown by the locking hubs. Wow that is cool. I enjoy using SSD wheels I have 3 vehicles that are decked out with there wheels. Like the concept Jeep pickup also. Not sure why they don't produce that vehicle. When I was in High School a friend of mine had a Jeep Scrambler. I think Jeep should bring the Scrambler back. Great video as always. Excited to see the Hoonigan Van in action on snow. Take care Matt.
Matt, have you considered using your 3D printed body for your comp 2 and 3 rig as a mold. Vacuum form yourself a lighter body. make several bodies for back up. then remove the forming materials from the 3D body and use the body for class 1. Im sure Josh could use His Vaccum form machine to help. seperate note print yourself a tapered bed seperate for the class 2 and 3. just a thought. Cheers.
So you made a Hoonivan,,,,,. I really have to say I am battling with myself as to whether I love it or really hate it on every level but I do know, if I were to build it, I wouldn't be able to let the wife see it she thinks I'm already crazy enough. Anyway always a pleasure to see what you do next , keep up the great work while paving new roads toward creative ideas that encourage us all to stretch our imagination to achieve the impossible and unthinkable.
@@scalebuildersguild now that sounds like a very relieving realization and words to live by, come to think of it I'm pretty sure I have been in this accepted level of crazy for quite some time now
As I was about to ask are the stl files available you mentioned them. Can’t wait to see the finished result as I will be going and buying the files once this finishes to print for a ‘24 project I have in mind. And thank you for doing the Land Rover body on your 24 as I’d already printed an old VW van cab for one of my projects that is on the shelf to do over my xmas holiday at the end of January now due to real paid work getting in the way
It is 1:7.5 scale. The original customer wanted it to fit on a stock SCX10 chassis. It’s tough making small vehicles since there are not many good chassis options. Can’t wait to see this finished. I am sure it will be amazing.
Those ssd rc hubs are awesome, time will tell if they can take the abuse we put out tiny trucks through, definitely want a set, your sherpa is taking great shape, mines on the back burner since my Holmes items I need are backordered for the time being, hoonievan looks awesome
Great Project looks Awesome, I'll add, that for trail or comp anything over 15% Max 20 % overdrive impedes the truck & works against you regardless the weight of the vehicle etc, most definitely doesn't help, but it sells $$ 💵 😂
Matt The van looks great dude. You should (some how) show this to the Ken Block folks. I'm sure they would appreciate it. Those locking hubs look great and make me say mmmmmm, next project. As always great video and look forward to the new format.
Thats a long drive down here for u lol. Cant wait til scale nats! Gotta get on my c1 soon, c2 needs a few things yet, n c3 is almost ready. Cant wait, so many big names to meet n hopefully run with. Goina b awesome to meet u, josh, tim from trd adv, would b awesome if logan from wdw makes it. Tony from ccxrc goina b there? Thanks for all the great vids matt! U do some amazing work with styrene
My 2019 f-250 still has manual locking hubs. I’m not much a fan of Monster logos, tracks, vans, or snowboards (bad knees)😂,yet I am absolutely blown away by that build. I would put it in my top 3 lexan builds of all time… And I now have to own or build it👍🏻
The hoonivan is awesome, the proper amount of ridiculous and custom. The locking hubs seem a little odd as aside from the RC4WD Toyotas, the Power Wagon and the old Bronco and Blazer every other body on the market would have automatic locking hubs.
Well I’m a dummy , I ordered the wrong set of SSD locking hubs. Ordered for the Trail King offset and I knew you said SCX10II, I had to find this specific video and found the link which thereafter it all started making sense. Guess I will be buying a trail king as well
I think the choice of body is going to be really cool if you can make it work. The truck ends up top-heavy don’t be so proud that you can’t place it. Winning is not everything it’s the only thing. Just joking. It’s about friends & fun !! I really enjoy watching your show! thanks Dan
The Hoonivan - ugly, impractical, just weird - I LOVE IT, lmao! Btw, great paint and no apologies needed, amazing build! Very interested to see your review of the Rebel RC 👍 And, please, more WOTB!
Us 1/1 crawlers use the locking hubs on our locked up diffs to get 3 wheel drive in the twisties. It makes the rig track better. I'm curious and am going to have to look into them. We like to break out our RC's when someone gets stuck or any other break we take while wheelin. On your cross class truck, are you keeping the same body between the two? Seems an easy way to get a better cg would be to take advantage of some of the lighter body requirements. Just askin. Love your stuff man. Have fun
Hey Matt, can you check and see if the SSD locking hubs will work with your VP Currie RockJock? Would really love to know as it would be an awesome addition to the '78 Land Cruiser, on my scx102.
Yep, I can check. Since that axle is essentially a aluminum version of an SCX10II axle, it should fit. I'll double check, possibly even tonight on the livestream.
@@scalebuildersguild I'm thinking it should as you have mentioned. I just don't want to get my hopes up and tell the cruiser it'll have some new parts coming, then have to let the ol' girl down.😆
Haven't even got a scale crawler yet and I so want those wheel hubs. I can remember my dad fitting some to the front wheels of his Land Rover so that he could disengage the 4 wheel drive. I hope to build a scale model of it soon, Killerbody D90 on a Carisma SCA-1E chassis but will the hubs fit?
Yes yes all of your stuff is bomb sh#t Matt cause if I didn’t like you’re builds I wouldn’t be watching buddy. Question I have is, is when are those SSD locking hubs gonna be available for purchase? Need a few sets and hoping it’s only about a $100-$150 a set. Let me know here in the comments below.
I’m a fan of your van! Amazing projects!
Hoonivan is hands down the coolest, most original build I’ve seen this year! Can’t wait to see it run.
Thank you!!!
The Hoonivan is amazing. Don't apologize for it! This is what the hobby should be about!
You did yourself proud there. Great looking paint job!!! Thxs for sharing @
The best thing about the Hoonivan is that Josh is having nightmares of those tracks...... FLAWLESS 👍👍
This is my favorite series. I always forget how much you get done.
I can't decide whether this is a backhanded compliment or not... 😉
scale locking hubs are probably the coolest thing ive seen today

I love these WOTB videos! Those locking hubs are so cool! Can't wait to get a set. That van is crazy! Hopefully you can get some snow soon to take it for a spin. Looking forward to that video.
Living in Canada means that it's only a matter of time before we get snow. It's not "if" it's "when"!
I've been trying that recently, now that we finally have snow, and it definitely works!
Love the WOTB series. Its good to have mini updates on all the projects you have running. Gives me plenty of ideas too. 👏🏻
More to come!
The hoonivan is mental, so cool, loving it. You are an inspiration.
Van turned out killer Matt!!!! Great episode!!!!
Those SSD locking hubs look frink'n awesome

Can’t wait to see you there.

The locking hubs, and the van are fantastic love it!
Love the van , it's really different
I bought the SSD hub lock kit because of this video. I love it. Its on my XJ but I think I need a chevy truck body for it.
Looks cool ! Like it.
They have tracked vans that climb Mount Washington auto road. Here in New Hampshire USA
I love that Hoonivan!

I actually have one of those Tamiya Hilux trucks with the locking front hubs.
Neat stuff👍👍💪

Can’t use that word here man…you know what I speak of

my 93 ranger had locking hubs like that. my brother didnt know you had to lock them and rear ended someone one winter haha
Oops!
Man that looks great,
bravo!!
Van looks amazing!
Holy crap you had me at the thumbnail lol.
I can’t find the ssd manual locking hubs anywhere yet! These are a must have for a few builds!
They should be out soon.
Cant wait to see this in action!!
The hoonivan is awesome, the proper amount of ridiculous and custom. The locking hubs seem a little odd as aside from the RC4WD Toyotas, the Power Wagon and the old Bronco and Blazer every other body on the market would have automatic locking hubs.

Not a fan of the tracks but oh my god I love that van! 😉👌

Nope, not even a tiny bit. Direct fit of 12.8" wheelbase!
That printed body is awesome! What material is that pla then? The prusa sure did a good job I have some tough times printing thin walls
Do you remember which video(s) you first started on this Hoonivan/TRX4?
Love the van. I have to ask. How did you mount it?
Thanks! Watch the live follow-up video and I explain it all!

Hey Matt, what is that young bloke up the top left corner doing with his pants down. Looks like he likes that truck a little to much HAHA.
Everyone up there is fully clothed.
did you print the jeep from pla or petg?
What wipers did you use on the Hoonivan?
Printed ones from Knight Customs!
Ha! Matt had to say “scaler” and “tiny tool” in the same video.
Can’t wait to see how many times he has to repeat them on Tuesday’s livestream!

Why does the skid angle down toward the front?
Intentional to help with break-over and CG.
What happened to Mr. Plow? No longer on the bench?
I decided to not paint that scheme on the Gmade.
