@@martin288 It went great actually! It was devastating at first honestly. Very emotionally draining few weeks. But once I accepted it will be okay with or with out her, and started following the principles in his book, it all worked out (for now lol) but we are in a much stronger place individually and as a couple. His book is well worth the $, I got it free with an audible trial. It really does become apart of your instinct after you listen to it 10-15 times like he always suggests lol. Couple main things I did - stopped making her the center of my life, and focused more on my own passions and career. I also started exercising/power lifting, eating healthier, learning about nutrition, and lost a good bit of weight. I love the quote he always mentions, " You must love in such a way that the person you love feels free." I've been really trying to do that. He also always mentions how each relationship you enter is always an opportunity for growth, I've grown a ton the last couple months. So maybe it was fate. But regardless, his videos and book were a huge help and probably saved my relationship!

Being neurodivergent, the main reason why I need space and breaks is because I need to self regulate and decompress from the sensory overload that comes with being in a relationship, I like to talk but not for hours on end, I like to be with people but I often need ample time after sometimes for days or a week to get self regulated. This goes for any excessive sensory input whether it’s excitement or conflict. I shut down and my executive functioning goes down the drain and I become disabled and no longer am able to function properly. I can deal with a 2-3 hour long conversation but then I want complete quiet, no eye contact that covertly expects or demands attention back where I’m being drawn out of myself again and meeting the needs of others instead of easing into self care and staying there for as long as I need to be until I’m centered again. I’m starting to think like for me will be easier just to stay single because most people take boundaries as rejection or you start to feel like your depriving the other by taking care of yourself because they want more time and attention and you don’t have it to give. I’m just exhausted all the time now and even when I get some space which isn’t very much I’m already anticipating the need and expectation for my energy and interest so I can never really detach and get centered again because of the anticipatory anxiety. This really sucks!!! And all because I’m in the spectrum. I understand my son because he’s so much like me in that he loved a lot of quiet time and space, he’ll come out to be outgoing for a period but if exceeds his limit he will shut down for days after at the computer just to self regulate. We get each other and we know being together even if quiet and doing our own thing is STILL being together! Other people feel ignored and take it very personally. I’m at a crossroads…..be in a relationship and try to bend myself into a pretzel so he doesn’t feel neglected and gets his emotional needs for constant connection met and I’ll end up in the hospital OR stay single and experience some loneliness but I’ll have the control to control my environment before I crash and can’t function, develop insomnia, and become resentful because my need for quiet, space and time to self regulate I’ll be healthier and have more peace.

And now, after having the space that he needed and seeing me having left the past behind he admitted that he still feels attracted to me and won’t mind considering a casual relationship. He felt the spark between us. However I didn’t match with the same vibes on the grounds that now I needed some more time to trust him again and that he should fix his study stress issues first. I’m in no hurry though. I’m just maturer to give things their own sweet time. We still sometimes act like a couple, spend more time together because that’s how we can build some understanding and organically have a relationship, if there ever has to be any. But holding my dignity high and being happier all by myself are the strongest things I’ve done. He’s no more my priority, just a (any other) special one. And he clearly sees all of that.

My fiance wants a break because she's never really focused on herself. She always puts me first, its a trauma response that she also has done with her parents. She's never lived on her own. We also were codependent financially on each other for a while. She wants a break but said she still is in love with me. We live together so it's difficult. We both arent in financial spots to move out. She still wants to kiss etc so it's really a weird situation. My plan is to just try and giver her as much space as possible while focusing on my own life. It's hard to trust someone who wants a break but I also understand why. Yeah man, she called back after she told me she deleted my number. We met about 3 weeks after the break up and talked. We ended up hooking up that night. Recently she has been avoiding dates do the virus( her dad has an immune disease). The book is great and really effective but I don't think it can really be applied to this situation.

@@martin288 It went great actually! It was devastating at first honestly. Very emotionally draining few weeks. But once I accepted it will be okay with or with out her, and started following the principles in his book, it all worked out (for now lol) but we are in a much stronger place individually and as a couple.
His book is well worth the $, I got it free with an audible trial. It really does become apart of your instinct after you listen to it 10-15 times like he always suggests lol.
Couple main things I did - stopped making her the center of my life, and focused more on my own passions and career. I also started exercising/power lifting, eating healthier, learning about nutrition, and lost a good bit of weight. I love the quote he always mentions, " You must love in such a way that the person you love feels free." I've been really trying to do that.
He also always mentions how each relationship you enter is always an opportunity for growth, I've grown a ton the last couple months. So maybe it was fate. But regardless, his videos and book were a huge help and probably saved my relationship!

my problem is with relationships in general. Why do women need to be taken out on dates all the time? Why do men need to 'get' women to fall in love with them? You know what's sad? I read the book, dedicated myself to being an alpha, and I attracted a boatload of women before I found my current girlfriend. I think that Adam Ruins Everything video misunderstood what it means to be an alpha. It depicted these so called 'alpha males' as being aggressive. That's not what it means, it's about self-reliance, understanding what you want and not settling for less.

I was in a serious long-term relationship but my fiancé was kinda insecure and every time we have a little argument he would break up with me or insinuate that our relationship is not going to work out and we better be apart which results in so much emotional pain for me. But then every time he goes back and apologizes and pretends that it was all because of me.
Yesterday he did it again and apologized but this time it was different, I decided to call his bluff and told him I'll take a break...
I'm still faithful to him but this relationship has been so emotionally draining for me. Idk if he'll ever change but I need some time off to reconnect with myself and see if it's really worth it to pursue this relationship.

Being neurodivergent, the main reason why I need space and breaks is because I need to self regulate and decompress from the sensory overload that comes with being in a relationship, I like to talk but not for hours on end, I like to be with people but I often need ample time after sometimes for days or a week to get self regulated. This goes for any excessive sensory input whether it’s excitement or conflict. I shut down and my executive functioning goes down the drain and I become disabled and no longer am able to function properly. I can deal with a 2-3 hour long conversation but then I want complete quiet, no eye contact that covertly expects or demands attention back where I’m being drawn out of myself again and meeting the needs of others instead of easing into self care and staying there for as long as I need to be until I’m centered again. I’m starting to think like for me will be easier just to stay single because most people take boundaries as rejection or you start to feel like your depriving the other by taking care of yourself because they want more time and attention and you don’t have it to give. I’m just exhausted all the time now and even when I get some space which isn’t very much I’m already anticipating the need and expectation for my energy and interest so I can never really detach and get centered again because of the anticipatory anxiety. This really sucks!!! And all because I’m in the spectrum. I understand my son because he’s so much like me in that he loved a lot of quiet time and space, he’ll come out to be outgoing for a period but if exceeds his limit he will shut down for days after at the computer just to self regulate. We get each other and we know being together even if quiet and doing our own thing is STILL being together! Other people feel ignored and take it very personally. I’m at a crossroads…..be in a relationship and try to bend myself into a pretzel so he doesn’t feel neglected and gets his emotional needs for constant connection met and I’ll end up in the hospital OR stay single and experience some loneliness but I’ll have the control to control my environment before I crash and can’t function, develop insomnia, and become resentful because my need for quiet, space and time to self regulate I’ll be healthier and have more peace.

so here's the situation I'm in. My girl basically wants me to give her money when (for shoes for example) she demands it and move away from her hometown because she hates it and wants me to be somewhere else so "our" future can start, but her hometown is where I am successful in my career. Since I basically told her no she told me that "we need a break". What should I do in this situation? She's taking my rejection of her demands as a weakness which is backward if we follow the quote he says at the beginning. @@jean-paulfaye7794 We stayed in touch all through, while I gave him all the space (with or without annoyance) and got over with my anxiety. And now, after having the space that he needed and seeing me having left the past behind he admitted that he still feels attracted to me and won’t mind considering a casual relationship. He felt the spark between us. However I didn’t match with the same vibes on the grounds that now I needed some more time to trust him again and that he should fix his study stress issues first. I’m in no hurry though. I’m just maturer to give things their own sweet time. We still sometimes act like a couple, spend more time together because that’s how we can build some understanding and organically have a relationship, if there ever has to be any. But holding my dignity high and being happier all by myself are the strongest things I’ve done. He’s no more my priority, just a (any other) special one. And he clearly sees all of that.

My fiance wants a break because she's never really focused on herself. She always puts me first, its a trauma response that she also has done with her parents. She's never lived on her own. We also were codependent financially on each other for a while. She wants a break but said she still is in love with me. We live together so it's difficult. We both arent in financial spots to move out. She still wants to kiss etc so it's really a weird situation. My plan is to just try and giver her as much space as possible while focusing on my own life. It's hard to trust someone who wants a break but I also understand why. We love each other but we also made each other our whole lives for way too long and we need to fix that.

Hey Correy, I have important question. I have been following you long enough , but still dont understand. You say women are more atracted to men who's feelings are unclear ( so you dont contact her if she needs space to raise attraction for her ). Then you say if man stops making dates with his women she doesnt feel loved and she loses attraction( in your theory she should feel not sure about man's feelings so her attraction should go up , but in reality she feels that her man doesn't care ). I simply teach the skills he needs to handle and prevent future tantrums. Same with women. I simply respond in a way that is fair to myself which is what you teach anyway and that is attractive. Hey Corey! My girlfriend broke up with me the day she got back from vacation without having seen me for a week since she had been gone. We were txting and it seemed like everything was fine up until I went to go play basketball and she texted me saying "we need to talk." She ended up breaking up with me over FaceTime saying she had lost feelings for me, and wasn't ready for a serious relationship and she wanted to be free. She wanted to stay friends but I told her it's either we r intimate or nothing else. I begged and pleaded for a few days, and yesterday was the first time we haven't talked in two months.
