- A lot of you have reached out and asked me about my setup, also my mappings have been buzzing a bit on those more nerdy parts of the internets.
So I thought I'd make this little sneak peak video to give a better picture to whoever cares.
If you want to know how I play cuepoints like a keyboard: I am explaining this as well. S/O DJ 69Beats who also does a very similar thing :)
Now, it does not matter what equipment or controllers you use. But if you care, I personally choose TRAKTOR and MASCHINE by NATIVE INSTRUMENTS.

Traktor really is king for mapping… wish there was a do all program currently I have serato , traktor and algoriddim dj and they all have their own things that the others don’t … we need it all in one

In regard to the FX, is it all Traktor-based? You're not using the Maschine software in your routine whatsoever correct? Just the hardware. Impressive mapping. Besides learning Russian, this is my next goal. Thanks.

Just a quick question. If the Z2 has a sound card built in, why are you using that external sound also?
you have good eyes sir: it's to record the set and/or Mic :) I try to avoid recording into Traktor directly

Nice video! Thanks for going through that. Do you have any suggestions for speakers to play gigs like weddings and house party's that are powerful enough but cheap for a starting point?
my opinion on this is not qualified at all.If you want to buy and money is an issue, go for something that you can use in the house AND on the road, so maybe look into KRK's speakers or something. then again, i'm no expert on speakers at al :)

Thanks for a look into your setup! Just a couple of questions about your computer because I see you're using a PC now, what OS and Traktor/Maschine version are you running? Also, on your older MacBook that you can see in all of your previous videos, what OS and Traktor/Maschine version were you running on that? Reason for asking is that I know that there are issues with Mavericks, Yosemite and El Capitan with audio dropouts and latency bugs, and I'm curious because it's a big change to go to PC when you've been using a Mac extremely successfully for so many years.
in short, using any DVS on apple computers is a huge risk. Mac users on Traktor are only safe in MOUNTAIN LION and are recommended to use Traktor 2.6 (while the newest version is 2.10.x) . Serato users have the similar issues, clearly audible every week, wherever i go. So, a few months back, someone accidentaly destroyed my computer while i was traveling. I brought a new macbook pro - but i had CRAZY issues and after 2 days with NI's tech-support, it was decided that I would return my new macbook and instead have a professional build a power-notebook for the same amount of cash. So now I am on a pc and I need to say, whileI miss my macbook's convenience, I have not had a computer problem ever since. But yes, at the moment it is important that you know exactly what gear you use and how settings will affect each other. It was a nightmare but at least now I understand way more "under the hood" stuff
what kind of issues I can expect on Yosemite and Traktor 2.10 ?

haha make sure u stay out of trouble buddy :) the stylus is a Ortofon Night Club. For some reason I prefer elliptical needles although they burn pretty fast, I think spherical needles last longer if u like to cut it up a lot :)

does the mk3 mikro work with the z2 mixer?
man modifiers are killing me!!! ich habe das toneplay set up mehr oder weniger verstanden aber wie genau maps du die buttons so dass es nur ein cue point angreif ( cue point 1 mit den kick in deinem fall) und nicht den rest (snare und die andere cue points) Könntest du vielleicht wenn du zeit hast und eine arme seele helfen willst mir das erklären ein bisschen mehr in detail? damit du hast dein weg in die himel schon bezahl! :)

The color stuff is geeky as f :) You need to set 4 controls: the Midi IN control and then three (1) midi OUTs on the same message. The three OUTS is to send MIDI data to the same controller, but on different channels: Channel 1 sends COLORDATA, Channel2 sets BRIGHTNESS, channel 3 sends SATURATION. Best look up a tutorial for that, it took me a bit to understand all dat stuff but it's worth it in the end because you just don't mess up anymore :)

With the MK3, it switches from HSB (what the MK2 uses for LED feedback for Midi Out messages) to Index mode, which only takes one Midi Out message, but isn't quite as flexible. For HSB in the MK2, there are some really good tutorials, with the best probably being by Mapping Genius. If you google Mapping Genius Traktor, you will find the guy's website and he has several tutorial manuals that are excellent guides.

Ich ueberlege mir gerade etwas, halt die augen offen! Ansonsten ist es immer gut, sich auf kleine dinge zu konzentrieren. Wenn du nur 2 Dinge richtig kannst, ist das schon eine Menge wert, je mehr davon du abhakst desto schneller wirst du dabei, sowohl handwerklich als auch vom Lernprozess her. :)

@@DJRAFIK what dj rafik. I been alot this days sense covid. I got to spend more time with my machine mk2. I found a way to make machine mk2 work with serato with out mappin my cue point. now I got that fix so I can start with tone play. I just wanted to let you know but. I'm still working on it how to figure out more stuff.
on your live foootage it seems that you mashine is controlling the lights too

Fuck!!!! you and 69 beats at midi mapping kings I'm stuck right now trying to map the pioneer xp-1 for serato dj any tips you can give me would be truly appreciated I managed to do some mapping but I'm stuck at the lightstrip I want to use it to control the depth of all the 3 efx just like the knob on the s9.

Quick Question, If the cue points are slow reacting on the Z2, what would the cause be? Drumming doesn't work because there is a delay from when I hit the pads and the sound.
my best bet is that your latency is set too high. i mean i guess your computer has the right specs etc?
Thanks man... I'll have to check that. I usually set it at 512, but lower is better. I figured it was latency but I asked in case there was another setting somewhere. Is your mapping updated? Looks awesome!
ohhhh. 512 should not be too bad actually but try lower. If I remember correctly, it is more performance friendly to use increments of 128. So don't go for 192 if stuff goes south, rather go for 256 :)
Do you have a Traktor map available for purchase or download?
I will share it (for free of course) but I need to optimize it before. It's chaotic as hell :D

01. Map a INSIGNIFICANT function to a Z2 button (i use temp toggle browser)
02. Check box for "Override Midi"
03. You're done. You over-wrote the parameter you wanted to disable with some bs that does nothing, which is my style to disable a function :)

1) What are your keylock settings in Traktor (HiQ or ECO )?
What up Big L, for this I use HQ in scratch mode. BUT sometimes when I DJ, I have it on HG-Regular (opposed to scratch) so that I can make more dramatic tempo drops. Be careful tho, KeyLock takes an awful lot of resources. :)
