Gotta give Carson some credit. In between playing the fool, there were moments where he moved pretty well. Can you imagine how awkward Fallon would look doing this?
Jimmy Fallon would piss his pants and then stare at the camera awkwardly.
he'd be fallon on his butt!
please, let's not have fallon and carson in the same sentence
I thought this was awkward tho
@Bob Watters No he wasn't
Joe Frazier was not only a great fighter, he was a class act; at all times.
Indeed. Don Cherry relates a story about when he had Frazier as a guest on his sports interview show in Canada. The limo that picked him up at the airport had a flat tire on the way to the studio. Joe got out and helped the driver change the tire.
@@Lava1964 i could never picture Ali doing that for somebody.Joe was the real people's champion.
@@joshuatree5620 i don't know how much Ali knew about cars but he loved helping people. He talked a man out of commiting suicide.
@@joshuatree5620 don't compare their good deeds only God can judge them
I met him on a couple of occasions and he was indeed a class act
I've had the pleasure of meeting Smokin' Joe many times when I lived in Philadelphia. He was one of the greatest boxers of all time, a class act, and a real ambassador for the sport.
Did you ever learn any of training tactics or secrets of his?
@@ethanhoke5468 Joe had no secrets. Just incredible durability, hard work and a heart made of steel.
I heard a story of a guy living in Philly running a wrecking yard and a guy came in and bought an engine for a Cadillac. The seller says, “man, you look just like Joe Frazier”, and the buyer says, “yeah, that’s because I am”.
@@classicsurvivor lol
That's awesome. Joe was most certainly one of the GREATS. Ali was very demeaning to him, though some of it was probably self promotion.
This has me howling with delight. I ache in my soul to return to this time in our golden past. God, I miss Johnny and Joe and all the greats from back then. Truly a bygone era.
we just miss being young and safe

RIP Joe! What a warrior
Black Mamba toughest boxer to ever live
To me, Mr Frazier was a like a warrior monk. It doesn't get more awesome than him.
@@terryadams2652 yes, good a analogy. Joe was an urban monk both in terms of his hard work and his respectable demeanor. They don't make em like him anymore.
@@cygnusprime6728 Oh, i fell in love with Mr Frazier (and i'm a STRAIGHT man!).
Ahh man, the best!
I watched this man almost every night, there will never be another Johnny
Thanks for the memories...
I give the round to Carson, 10-9. While none of his punches seemed to hurt Frazier, he landed more and was the aggressor throughout, even backing Frazier up midway through. Frazier closed with a late flurry, but not enough to win.
IF Joe had unleashed one of his best in the world left hooks, Carson would have been hospitalized for a month!!! I knew Joe. He was a good man!!!
LOOOOOOOOOOL
Why are you analyzing this lol, its just a sketch
haha
Down goes Carson! Down goes Carson! Down goes Carson!!
All kidding aside, Johnny was pretty quick, LoL!!
He really was! Lucky for him Joe didn't break out his left hook ;-) Crazy how small Frazier was, right?
Johnny Carson, so good at his job. You could tell he was a pretty good athlete.
I remember when they had a gymnast on and had the high bar on stage. Johnny jumped up there and swung around and around 360 degrees at arms length, Impressive a Heck.
Carson looks like he could box..!
LOVED Joe Frazier!!! One of the most exciting boxers ever!!! Put the fear of God into Ali. Joe was a gentleman with a great heart.
No one has ever been, nor will ever be as good, as the KING himself, Johnny Carson!
The king of late night
Rest easy, Joe and Johnny!
pretty good speed and reflexes for carson here for his age
Johnny was an undefeated boxer in the Navy!
Bre Fujimoto ...
Biff Lipstick no
Bre Fujimoto Nothing to do with his age, you obviously don't know that Carson worked out and played tennis regularly. Check out any of his skits where's he not wearing a shirt, he has clearly defined muscles in arms, torso, shoulders, etc. He wasn't just a desk jockey.
Carson was in famously good shape throughout his life. If he hadn't smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish he might've lasted even longer.
JOE WAS ALWAYS MY FAVOURITE , RIP JOE.
the great Joe Frazier :) man i miss this era no boring fight :)
Carson looks like he used to be a good boxer.
Yeah...so it seems!!
He was when in the navy.
@@anthonyshelton2312 Good call. I had read that on his wiki page some time ago as well.
@@mansfield61 he also says it at 0:17. Pretty funny guy.
His stance showed he knew what he was doing.
I'm 30yrs old and get more entertainment out of a 40yr old TV Show more than I do Fallon and whatshisname.
Frazier was a hero to many of us kids back then.
We were from Beaufort and so was Joe. ( and lemme say this, we were white kids, never for 1 second did we even think about Joe's color, my Marine sergeant dad wouldn't tolerate that for second. My dad was a total asshole career marine vietnam vet expert rifleman. He was awful and treated us like hell. But he was totally anti-racist)
that's because you see real people who don't mind being laughed at...that was their business. Check out some of the old Don Rickles clips on here lately. Absolutely hilarious but no way the guy could make a living today. So many of the bigger named starts of that era had been real people doing real things before they became celebrities: soldiers (Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Henry Fonda, Glen Ford, Tyrone Power, Ernest Borgnine, Burt Lancaster, Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart, director John Ford, Victor McLaglen, Jimmy Cagney, even somewhat younger Eastwood had done real stuff), merchant seamen, boxers, rodeo cowboys, stuntmen, lots of guys from the "school of hard knocks." That gave most of them a grounding and a certain humility, and made them believable on screen. Seeing Burt Lancaster, Robert Ryan, Lee Marvin as tough guys from another century is not a stretch; it's easy to see. By contrast, watching Jeff bridges as Rooster Cogburn was a bit of a stretch for me, though his acting was good.
I always liked Joe
good for you. Fallon isn't my favorite, but I assume you mean Colbert on the other one. And he's is probably one who Caron would like greatly. On the other hand, Carson would skewer trump on a nightly basis.
@@jimperry4108 Late night hosts are supposed to skewer politicians. The issue comes where only the politicians with a certain letter next to their name get skewered. Late night guys went after Carter and Clinton pretty hard, but have been easy on Biden and practically fawned over Obama.
Carson was actually a pretty good boxer in the navy, went 10 -0 on his ship
Must've been the Love Boat
How long after that did he go 0-8 though?
He had 1 draw after the ship
Shadow boxing?
Punched out the Doc, Gopher, Isaac and even that coke head Julie.
DAMN HE IS A SUCH SKILLED PUNCHER, joe is pretty good too
Two legends. Thanks for sharing.
Joe Frazier was a great guy that is easy to like and admire. Legend.

Joe always seemed like such an amazing down to earth man
Carson was in great shape his entire life. Smoking was his undoing. Frazier was a terrific human being. Nice post.
Joe Frazier was a very good man.One of the greatest of all times. Love you Joe
Johnny has better form than most actors in boxing movies.
LOL! He was taught well, plus Johhny's really fast!
I'm sure Carson would of had his fair share of street fights as a kid.
He moves like someone who could put up a real fight 🥊🥊👀 back then Americans were strong and physically active.
smoking joe frazier one of the all time greats! what a legend, what a man!
2 all time greats---Joe Frazier and Johnny Carson
Now this is why you stayed up late to see this, awesome not the crap they roll out today.
Those were the days, I must have been elementary school back then. Johnny and Joe were at the top of their game!
Timeless funny content... for this I will subscribe.
So Funny ! had me in tears. Two Class acts !
Rest in peace, fellas.
The Good Old Days! Classic Carson and Smokin Joe!❤️✨
Johnny had balls the size of Chicago to stand in front of Joe with gloves on. Hero!!!
Yeah, imagine the same scenario but it was Tyson...I'd be like, "Hellz no I'm not putting those gloves on! If I just make the wrong joke or get lucky and something goes past your guard I could get murdered today..."
Hero?! Hardly.
@@resnonverba137 Who Tyson? Yeah, he was a devastating fighter, but hardly a "hero".

Joe was a great fighter. You have to be good to beat Ali for the title.
Joe took alot of shots to get to Ali. But he still kept coming in.
LOL. that was so cool I like it when Johnny said I want to feel how it feels... Ouch that hurts.
Johnny is a good boxer you can tell by his speed and precision
Aw, Johnny. The world misses this man. There will never be another like him. And Joe ... he was a good dude, too, wrongly painted as a dumb guy by Ali. Shameful!
Muhammad Ali was a prick...
So far and it has been awhile and nobody is as good as Johnny Carson.
Cool video. I like how Johnny wanted to feel Joe's power. It takes balls to do that on national TV.
Love smokin joe R.I.P brother you were great.
Johnny must've been afraid that Joe's reflex would kick in and he'd respond.
@Bob Watters Me, too! Joe's left hook could knock a wall down. Amazing to me how small he was.
@@dropwizerorders501 Exactly what was on my mind. One Joe body shot and no more talk show
Takes a southpaw from Frazier, the very same fist that knocked down Ali... "ow that hurts!" .....really Johnny? hahahah ;-)
Joe always seemed like a decent good natured guy.
Johnny was a classic. God rest his soul
I liked smokin joe..as a fighter hard as nails and was in some good fights which entertained all us boxing fans and he come across as quite a gentleman..RIP joe
Smokin' Joe!
I have never seen this ….it’s absolutely hysterical . Old Johnny was lucky that Joe did not have an Ali flashback ….and unleash with a left hook!
"Hurt ya?" 😂😂😂
Johnny Carson was awesome.
And nowadays we have late night shows where hosts scared from bear cubs
Joe was laughing so hard LOL! Johnny was a true genius!
Joe was and will always be a legend.
Legend? he was the best. In his fight with Ali, he not only knocked Ali down several times, but he made Ali URINATE BLOOD FOR WEEKS, no lie. Ali didn't want the embarrassment of being hospitalized, but he was actually supposed to be! And remember, Mr Frazier was 3" shorter than Ali!
Ole Johnny was pretty quick with his hands!
What a lovely man Joe Frazier was. Love you Joe ❤️ Twelve Man ❤️

Pretty good reflexes for johnny. No slouch in his day.
"Did I hurt you, Joe?" Hahahaha
I can remember a left hook that hurt Ali in the 15 round. Joe became the Champ on that night.
Frazier was already the champ. He just confirmed it since Ali never lost the title in the ring (up to that point).
Fight Of The Century. I loved the Burt Lancaster narration. Awesome fight. One of the best I have ever seen.
@@patrickmorgan4006 - A lot of people didn't see it that way, they still considered Ali the Champ.
@@darykinnaman2319 Yes, I know, but the fact is that Frazier held the belt when he walked into the ring that night.
