Well this has bought tear's to my eye's again.for everyone who has commented on here that you must go then do it .before its too late.my grandparents were from Galway and my sister.her hubby and myself holidayed in Ireland for many year's .firstly to see Galway to trace our roots.then on following years to travel the whole of southern Ireland.Mayo is stunning it takes your breath away on every turn on the road's you take.unfortunatly were all to old to do it now so don't leave it too late.

My family originates from Mayo county. I heard great stories about how my great grandfather fought in the Irish civil war. He feed the soldiers and let them use his barn as a barracks. I hope to go there one day and see it.

To call Mayo beautiful is to be lazy in language.
If you were born there, never doubt your luck.
If you travelled there, never doubt your choices.
Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Galway, Clare, Limerick, Kerry, Cork, Waterford... these places could never be designed by a human...but Mayo...how has this happened and come about?
What force or power put this together?
There aren't sufficient words to nearly describe the many things Mayo is.
A silly word, a silly name...but it doesn't matter...there are no words can explain the majesty, magic, wonderment, awe and overwhelming profound magnificence of emotions Mayo induces.
Oh you poor things who will never see, or witness..I sympathise sincerely with you.
Sadness for you sweet and lovely folk of Dublin, but you deserved more and better.
But whats the point of blame... it's just not meant to be. Console yourselves with watery versions and pretties for innocent minds that will suffice but not thrive.
If you doubt God...who can blame you?
But when you need to reiginte your kinships, treasures, values and faith...Mayo is there for you.

Thank you, sitting here in my Mayo Jersey in Queensland. Its been a couple of years since I've managed to get home. This video made my heart ache, but was worth it to see the beauty of Mayo again. One day when all of this madness is behind us, I'll get home.

This is shoreline Mayo, Most of the County doesn't have this kind of landscape,.
Mayo has the longest coast in Ireland. Mayo has the most islands of any county in Ireland. Mayo has the largest island in Ireland. Mayo's nickname is the Maritime County. This video shows plenty of inland areas, particularly the big lakes we have in County Mayo.
Stop whinging, most of Mayo can't have this kind of landscape, it has to be different, I have traveled Mayo across the County, wonderful landscapes, the, beautiful Mountains. I am from Kilkenny.
