1985 VW Golf and Jetta Service Preview

  • A treasure-trove of VW goodness! Shows the Wolfsburg factory line where the Mk2s were assembled, explains improvements over the MK1 Rabbit such as aerodynamics and engine mounts, and goes over some service info like removing the headliner, radiator and condenser, fuel level sender and CIS transfer pump, drip moldings, and adjusting the door gaps.
I think the footage of the factory is from 1983 or 1984, just after production of the MK1 had stopped.
Content is not mine, and is presented for the VW nuts everywhere!

I was a Vw tech and worked on some audi in the dealership for 5 yrs up until last summer, looking at this is pretty cool. It's crazy how some things really haven't changed much. Volkswagen really never did too many drastic changes over a period of time. A good example would be radiator access, the entire front end still has to come off. Great video!!

Owned two used and have a new one now. Drove plenty over in the years (mother owned two as well). It's a shame we get neutered engines. When I lived in Germany I drove a base model MK5 Golf and hit 149 MPH (240 KPH). The Scirocco was really fun as well.

Vdub Westmoreland baby! Chrysler started the place in '69, and sold it to VW in '76. Closed in '88, and Sony manufactured TVs there until early 00s. Now split up for any purpose. BTW 10:30ish in the video, things start to heat up.

At the 80's they provide information about the maintenance and repairment, but now the only what you see in the user manual is: you should go to the dealer point to repair it, at a robbery price, that's all. It's the same with the credit cards, at the begining it's for free, but then, they start to ask money for nothing.
