    I didn't know that about zinnias. I remember being little and my grandma had lots of them. I thought of them as ugly flowers because they seemed uglier than, say, roses at the time. However, this is my first year as a gardener, and I planted a bunch of zinnia seeds earlier in the year. They're about to bloom, and I'm beyond excited!!! 😍 I love them! ❤❤ thanks so much for all the knowledge! Because of you, I bought my first gomphrenas and I love them so much! Definitely learning a ton from you! It's very helpful because we're in the same zone. I used to live in Chicago too, but now I'm in the suburbs.

    잘라낸 꽃을 추가하여 더욱 많은 식물 정원을 관리하는 모습이 멋집니다.
    아름다운 꽃들을 많이 볼 수 있는것은 행복한 일이죠..아름다운 영상 감사합니다.

    Over 40 years gardening and just now learning about zinnias. I hope it won’t take another 40 to master it. Thank you for the lessons.

      And…since statice means memory and remembrance please do a video when you order seeds. 🤪

      I definitely will! I usually order in September or October bc I’m afraid the ones I want will sell out if I wait any longer 🤣

    Thank you for the gomphrena video. I'm so excited for the lavender color. This is my first time growing that color. Your gomphrena patch is absolutely beautiful! Actually all your flowers are gorgeous!

      Thank you! My gomphrena is so far ahead this year. Usually I don’t have flowers until mid to end of July but the bed was full in June this year!

      @ChicagoGardener Oh I know I'm so jealous. My lavender gomphrena is just now starting to flower. I'm in Ohio also zone 6. I'd like to know what you're feeding them! lol

    Great info, especially regarding the wiggle test. I really need to grow statice and gomphrena next year. Hope we get to see more of your Floret zinnias, I’m growing the unicorn mix but I’m kicking myself for not getting a packet of the precious metals.

      @ChicagoGardener  Před 12 dny +1

      Unicorn was the other one I was deciding between! Have any of yours flowered yet?

      @@ChicagoGardener Mine just started flowering! It’s been very rainy here (SE WI) and the slugs and earwigs have been bad this year so everything is kind of lagging. The unicorn colors are really dazzling though!

  • @schoolbeginsaftercoffee4759

    I dont know about anyone else, but I have been fighting earwigs all season. I am in the trenches! My zinnias and dahlias have taken the brunt of the earwig attack, which makes me so sad.

    • @ChicagoGardener
      @ChicagoGardener  Před 12 dny

      Oh no!! I’ve only ever had a few earwigs find their way up here, I’m assuming brought up in another week.

      I'm not sure what pests I have, but my first few dahlia blossoms were damaged. So I ordered some bulk organza bags off Amazon and am trying the method where you cinch the bag over the new bud and let it develop inside the bag. Looks a little funny in the garden, but so far so good and looking forward to harvesting perfect blooms!

    Cosmos is one of my favorite flowers and i dont trust ppl who have them in bouquets bc they seem like theyd perform terribly! Happy to see you love statice!!! I have a "lavender" gomphrena from Baker creek and i swear its just magenta which is a little disappointing bc i already have too much pink

    • @ChicagoGardener
      @ChicagoGardener  Před 12 dny +1

      Omg magenta! I planted salmon gomphrena seeds and they’re all deep pink 😂
