Teddy Randazzo....Wow what can I say...Little Anthony and the Imperials...and the Royalettes......the orchestrations! Lush strings and throbbing back beat. Pure..slow dancing music.....close, intimate and dreamy. These songs will never fall out of favor. Long live the 60's and 70's.
Sheila Ross and the Royalettes - in most, but especially with the Teddy Randazzo arrangements, were simply most special. Her voice blending with the Royalettes' accompaniment were there at the top of the greatest era in music - late 50s Doo Wop through the mid 60s featuring the Girls' Groups & Motown. How simple and emotional the songs were back then. How beautiful. Absolutely love and miss their sound. It takes me back to high school, first car, college, first love, etc.
great soul music from the 60's, and well presented, as are the others too. thanks for posting. Happened upon their music via Laura Nyro, then i realised that somehow we'd missed out on The Royalettes completely, fools that we are...
@shorty1ification I saw Sheila Ross on September 10, 2011 at the Silver Spring Jazz Festival. She still has a beautiful voice; the audience burst out in applause after she sang only the first verse of "People".
I love this one very much. Heard this one during spring training '89 and was only 13 at the time. Not much to listen too during that time except for L'Trimm, Soul II Soul, the Bangles, Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul and Jody Watley at most. I'll never get tired of listening to the Royalettes.
I only know one song by this group, but I have loved everything I have listened to on youtube so far. I reember my cousin having an album by this group, and I used to just stare at the cover. I thought they were so beautiful. Well, they are. I love this song.
This one reminds me of Little Anthony & The Imperials, same composer I believe. So many great voices on vintage 60's recordings/videos added to YT, that listeners never heard until forty years later. We are overwhelmed by store tape loops of MUZAC:Madonna, Elton, Joel, Divas-all a blank to ignore after 2 to 4 Decades in rotation. YT obscurities on store loops would be a welcome relief. Only in a perfect world...
I second that. Great talent such as these ladies has been lost and forgotten because of the media focus on the Motown groups and in particular the Supremes.
This is a nice song. I love this group my first time hearing this song. I have to see if they have a cd for sale nice group beautiful voices and beautiful women.... BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!
The Royalettes should have had more success in the music business. They had the looks, the talents and the material to be big stars. I don't understand what happened. They should have been better promoted.
@movingon4ever Teddy Randazzo wrote AND produced apparently which defeintley explains the Little Anthony comparison. Royalettes made some quality sides but seem to have fallen off the radar - thanks for everyone who's posted them
GORGOUS COVER, GORGOUS SONG, GORGOUS LADIES AND I JUST LLLLLLOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEEE SLIT/SPLIT DRESSES, THAT SHOW OFF SHOULDERS, ARMS AND HAVE NICE DESIGNS AND FIT THE GORGOUS FEMALE GROUPS LIKE THE ONES THE R O Y A L E T T E S DISPLAY SO WELL HERE WITH THIER MATCHING SHOES, PLUS THE SETTING THIER SURROUNDED BY IS GORGOUS AS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I often what Ms Ross would sound like when she's not singing in her head voice. For her really full voice would sound different from the songs she's been releasing in her high voice. Overall she sounds great and the Royalettes put out some great songs. Too bad they fell to the side because of poor management and push from teh company. The were a fantastic group.

Shelia and her family were my neighbors, we could always hear them practice and they were so sweet, I sadly saw them at her mom's funeral last year.
