There's a pretty solid theory going around that the whole of Penacony so far is some kinda time loop thing (primarily due to Acherons odd questions at the beginning), this could possibly imply on the first loop the picture was canonically taken and she somehow held onto it/came across it after a "reset"
Which isn't that good of a point because terminus (who aventurine said acheron could be an emanator of) looks backwards in time to observe things so his emanators may very well do the same. Very likely either an oversight or a railroad to keep you on the story's path.

Imagine if we actually knew Firefly before, and that picture was actually when Trailblazer hadn't yet joined astral express, meaning this isn't the first time we went on a date with Firefly and because Trailblazer lost their memories, Firefly somewhat want to redo their experience that Trailblazer had forgotten. And that's why the picture is still there regardless what our choices are.

Elio can’t actually control people or define outcomes 100% of the time. He sees the infinite possibilities of the path of destiny so to speak and can give his Stellaron Hunters a “script” that if followed will increase the chances of certain outcomes. That’s how he can manipulate things towards the most desirable outcome for him. Being robbed of decision probably has to do with Acheron’s powers as an emanator or the dreamscape itself.

He does not decide everything, because if he did that "bad ending" where Astral Express disappears and you never board it wouldn't exist. Same with the Penacony bad ending. Also, in Kafka's story logs he writes a script for trying to recruit Kafka, but when you read the script it has separate alternative actions Kafka might take in response to his script which proves he can't actually control the choices of other people like what we saw in Penacony with not being able to refuse Acheron. He was also never described to have that ability by anyone either.

To be fair this is a game where choices DOES matter and choices bring different endings or consequences (e.g different endings such as the herta space station one/kafka companion quest/leaving aventurine etc.) So to experiment choices in this game regardless if they're morally right or wrong is perfectly normal. People wants to see what happens if you choose something that is not normally an option you should choose-out of curiosity, and not because of the cruelty of their hearts. And expect more of these that will happen.

She wasn't surprised then that we could walk on walls, but later in the quest with Black Swan she's astonished! But honestly i'm leaning towards the "the story team didn't want to change the story" possibility. I mean if you pay attention to dialogues with two completely different things you have the choice to say, sometimes it's painfully clear that both lead to the same answer from the character. Heck I dont remember exactly when but I know that some dialogues just don't make sense with some response options

Its possible that the picture on firefly's phone was taken sometime in the past before the trailblazer lost their memories and when you take the picture it just happens to be an exact copy because it just felt right and it fits because if you think about it, the trailblazer is the one who took the pic on their phone but the description when you pick up the phone claims that it is an unsent photo..but maybe im thinking too hard..it's hoyo after all

I agreed to take the photo, but I found her phone with the photo in the secret base (where we took the photo). Where Firefly died there was only one particular line of dialogue about Firefly's death
A recurring theme with the game is that it's always giving you the illusion of a choice. Save for a couple of minor side missions, most major choice dialogues/actions that the game presents to you always lead to the same outcome. Heck, even Kafka had a whole exchange with the trailblazer about this. So it's definitely not an oversight in my view.
You just change the path the mc will take. The main path is that you had took the photo. The hidden meaning is that in the Penacony that is yes the dream world but it also the place time take place. So, in another time, the mc had took the photo with Firefly and probably she knew about it and she probably had the photo from another timeline. Something like, FFXIII the 3rd game i think that we had to deal with time and remember this is another timeline of Honkai Impact, i remember somewhere they had said that, i think it was Elysia or Welt with Otto or Otto and Kevin, im not remember right now, but yeah, if we take the Otto story then you know what i mean. So originaly the photo stays there, you just have to choose. Some things wil lstay in the game as it must be, whatever you choose, the story will go as it must and that because is a nice cute script from Ellio or whoever had thought about it.
I was understandably skeptical of firefly's motives at the start, but after going through all those things with her, I'm glad I didn't reject taking the photo with her. Her innocence and utter trust in the trailblazer despite showing his skepticism is something that make me like her personality

Its possible that the picture on firefly's phone was taken sometime in the past before the trailblazer lost their memories and when you take the picture it just happens to be an exact copy because it just felt right and it fits because if you think about it, the trailblazer is the one who took the pic on their phone but the description when you pick up the phone claims that it is an unsent photo..but maybe im thinking too hard..it's hoyo after all

A recurring theme with the game is that it's always giving you the illusion of a choice. Save for a couple of minor side missions, most major choice dialogues/actions that the game presents to you always lead to the same outcome. Heck, even Kafka had a whole exchange with the trailblazer about this. So it's definitely not an oversight in my view.

You just change the path the mc will take. The main path is that you had took the photo. The hidden meaning is that in the Penacony that is yes the dream world but it also the place time take place. So, in another time, the mc had took the photo with Firefly and probably she knew about it and she probably had the photo from another timeline. Something like, FFXIII the 3rd game i think that we had to deal with time and remember this is another timeline of Honkai Impact, i remember somewhere they had said that, i think it was Elysia or Welt with Otto or Otto and Kevin, im not remember right now, but yeah, if we take the Otto story then you know what i mean. So originaly the photo stays there, you just have to choose. Some things wil lstay in the game as it must be, whatever you choose, the story will go as it must and that because is a nice cute script from Ellio or whoever had thought about it.
I was understandably skeptical of firefly's motives at the start, but after going through all those things with her, I'm glad I didn't reject taking the photo with her. Her innocence and utter trust in the trailblazer despite showing his skepticism is something that make me like her personality

What if you were still in the picture because Firefly dreamt of you being there. It materialized or something like that in the picture. So it makes more dramatic if you take it because you know she desired it so much , it will happen in ‘her dream’ no matter what.
