Without a doubt, Paganini was, is and will be one of the greatest violinists in history, his peculiar style of music, his peculiar history make him a great composer and executor of his music. ❤️

By shere appearance and attitude maestro Menuhin has been the real gentleman. His plaing was supreme. I like his playing better then Heifetz because he did not sacrifice the music nor support his vanity in matured age. He payed the utmost respect to the composer and to art, and not to himself, like many has been doing, especially a lot of contemporary violinists. For me - one of the few best violinists of the 20th century.

Henri Roy I suppose the vibrato you refer to is the peculiar rough sound Menuhim has which really intrigues me and makes his playing really recognizable.
Anyway, whoever said that there is or not a need for vibrato on every note? A violinist can do whatever he wants to achieve his musical ideas, and it doesn't have to be with the audience.
