- Discover the story and interiors of this unknown French Chateau before its renovation.Château de Tiregand (Dordogne - France) was never open to the public until this young Frenchman bought it. He opened it for the first time of its history, in July 2022.Louis Guyot (owner) was 25 years old when he bought it and when we made this video (June 2022).He is part of a well known family in France (Guyot family), since his parents, his 2 brothers and his sister are ALL OF THEM owners of (at least) one castle in France.

How is it possible that a 25 y old can take over a 45 rooms castle, and do the renovation? Amazing... It will surely be beautiful, but it takes a lot of work
Inheritance, or he works in a VERY, VERY high paying industry
His parents were not nobles or anything, but they bough an old chateau, almost a ruin, a long time a go (you can buy those chateau for not much like some are only 150 000 euros) a long time ago and they learned to work on it and taught their kids. Then they renovated another one and the family started to be known in the industry so it made things a bit easier for the kids to do the same later. Especially because they all learned to get their hands dirty as kids.

This young man is NO longer the owner, the chateau is now a convention/event/ wedding and festivities all connected to the winery. The Chateau is now renovated and many of the main rooms are empty of the furniture you see in this video.
When was it sold and what is your source?
I think that you may be mistaken, Laurent. The vineyard failed to sell, and is therefore still owned by the Saint-Exupéry family. The Guyot family bought the chateau (to add to their other six); and it is Louis Guyot's passion. It is not "renovated", merely cleaned-up enough to enable public visits - and of course the furniture has been moved around! Cordialement,Michael.
I personally don’t like castles or chateaus that are nothing but a long hallways with windows. Give me chateaus like bon hotel. That’s what I’m talking about.

The difference between a rich guy buying a chateau and me buying a 1899 timber house in Rauma countryside is that I wear a tool vest and he walks around in jeans and a collar shirt. We feel the same about 19th century aristocracy. I also got to replace 1930's wiring.

The place is beautiful but I dislike the mismatch roofing. The black/blue shingles should be restored to the red terracotta roof on some of the Chateau!

A simple suggestion is to turn this into a hotel.
The thing is in France they are chateau like this one, turned into hotels or event places at every corners. They are thousands of them already so... yeah it's not that easy.

He took out a 500,000€ loan from the bank, as one might for buying a small apartment in Paris. For the restoration, he has his family, who are deeply involved in the restoration of châteaux (parents, brothers, and sister). They each own at least one chateau in France. This is a unique and amazing family.

As someone who just got through the ordeal of building a fairly large home, this really resonates with me.

The whole Tiregand estate (chateau and 400 hectares of wine production) was put up for sale for €5.5 million. But it did not sell. The Guyot family bought just the chateau, in a dreadful state, with Louis Guyot in charge of it's future.

Actually he doesnt. His parents had average income when they bough their first chateau (you can buy chateau for like 150 000 euros if they are in bad conditions) and they taught themselves to renovate them and make money out of it. This allowed them to do the same with a second chateau and get known in the industry for their serious work. The kids were raised that way so they all learned from a very young age to work hard and get their hands dirty. Their parents hard work helped them to gain credibility to get a loan but then they still have to work hard (one of their kids failed )
