  • We love hiking slot canyons. And Utah is arguably the best place to find some incredible slot canyons to explore. We're not technical climbers so we know our limits and always highlight the best slot canyons to hike for any level of hiker.
Zebra Slot Canyon and Little Wild Horse Canyon are two of our favorites that we always try to hike whenever we pass through Utah.
Zebra Slot Canyon is located around 10 miles down Hole In The Rock Road just outside the charming town of Escalante, Utah. You'll spend a few miles hiking through the dry riverbed until you reach the slot canyon, where the rock walls narrow and you have to scoot through a few sections.
Little Wild Horse Canyon is located near Goblin Valley in northern Utah. Just a short hike from the trailhead, Little Wild Horse Canyon becomes exciting almost right from the start. You can hike a several-mile loop or go as far out and back as you'd like. However far you hike, expect incredible beauty for each and every step!

Those Canyons are absolutely beautiful! I’d love to hike them one day! And putting the pup inside the shirt... clever. Lol
Hope you are holding up ok after you’re father’s promotion. Just know he is still with you.

Thanks so much for your kind words! Huckleberry got himself further into the canyon than he wanted and that was the only way we could get him out safely!

That's a great question that warrants a more detailed video (on our list to do as soon as possible!)! Essentially we live incredibly frugally (less than 2K per month) so we make the most of what we have. We started with around 40K in savings our first year and whittled that down to 12K (mostly repairs and fuel) before we realized we needed to stop and work from time to time. Becoming "instafamous" wasn't in our plans and our efforts to monetize social media never paid out. So 9 months into our first year we returned to Florida and hustled up side jobs for 3-4 months. Then we hit the road again for a few months and had a big, costly breakdown that forced us to work for 4 months in a small town in Wyoming. That confirmed that our path was one of travel for a while, stop and work for a bit. And always travel on the cheap. Currently we're working seasonal jobs in Custer State Park in South Dakota that, God-willing, will catapult us to the next 6-8 months of travel (mostly in Baja where we are experts at managing our expenses) and then, who knows, maybe we'll end up with jobs in Alaska or Washington or maybe our business will fully support us by then (we don't push the "start a blog/CZcams/TikTok/Instagram" angle because it is SO MUCH WORK that we don't want to give people the idea that you can just do that and find immediate success). Our business is working for us now, 4.5 years later, but only at about 50% of what we need.... Knowing now what we know, we would have traveled slower from the start, picking up seasonal jobs like the ones we have now in incredibly cool places, and worked as often as we needed to keep the dream (and savings) in tact. Stay tuned... and if you don't see that video by September, please remind me to get very, very specific in a video to help you and others in more detail! Thanks for watching and for asking an awesome question! If you want, feel free to email hello[at]calledtowander[dot]com and we can stay connected there to see how we can help you guys get started on the journey! We do have a section on our website about Money and RVing that may have some nuggets of useful info for you! calledtowander.com/category/travel-finances/
