- I found this magazine at an antique store and I was rivetted by the front photo. The year is 1971 December. I was only 10 years old. Though I can hardly relate to the images I see in this magazine anymore, there is a sense of nostalgia and familiarity. The magazine has some fine sound quality as the pages are turned. Enjoy as much as I did.
The sounds are of crinkly page turning and a crackling fire in the wood stove.

I'm not trying to sound like a negative Nancy but those kids that took a picture with the adults look very very uncomfortable almost like they were forced to take a pic, Especially the last kid with the hand in his shoulder. Sorry just creeped me out.
No offense to me. I didn’t take the pictures. But yeah, they were probably not very comfortable. Imagine having a team of Life Magazine photographers swarming around you and trying to act natural. I know I wouldn’t be able to be.

That’s one of their last issues....
Life discontinued weekly publication in 72, but still had sporadic special issues from 1972-78, and then monthly issues until 2000. The internet is useful in so many ways, but one of the negatives is that it caused the death of so many magazines.
