  • Hello everyone and thanks for stopping by ‪@AutoScholarwithMrB‬ ! Today we are doing some cooling fan removal and cleaning for the 2013 Lexus CT200h. This vehicle has 123,000 miles on in and had a light accumulation of dust.
Cleaning the cooling fan for the battery can restore fan performance and keep your battery from overheating in hot climates. Some of these have filters on the fan intake, although this one did not. You may add one if you like, and it is recommended for dusty climates and pet owners that travel with their animals.
Please feel free to ask me anything in the comments. Also, if you learned anything with this DIY video, consider giving me a LIKE! Subscribing to the channel gives you access to my many videos dealing with Toyota and Lexus hybrid repair.

Nice video! I was able to take apart the blower motor and clean it. At 80k miles I thought it would be dirtier from the previous owner but wasn't bad. For the clips at 6:40 I found that you can just remove the one in the trunk and then if you reach down behind it from the back of the seat and pull straight up there is zero reason to remove the lower seat. It's quite easy. Takes 3 seconds to do and you don't have to worry about removing the backseat lower part at all. Then just push back down when done. Just a much easier and simpler way and not have to worry about possibly breaking those white clips that hold the lower seat down...

Just followed your instruction and get my ct fan cleaned, great video! Just couple of small things need to be mentioned: 1, there’s a 10mm screw holding the rear seat back cover except those clips, don’t forget to unscrew before peel the cover off. 2, there are two clips holding one of the connectors to the metal fan housing, also remember to unclip them before removing the fan out of its position. Cheers guys👍

Also there’s a clip inside the air intake just pull the plastic cover behind the door frame then you’ll see it, unclip it, this will allow more movement of the air intake to let you get access to those 2 bolts buried behind that holding the fan.

Nice videos! My understanding and observation is the Dr Prius app can override the battery fan speed but only while the app is running and connected to an obd2 bluetooth dongle. Otherwise the hybrid system continues to control the fan based on the battery temps. Normally you won't hear the fan if decent cooling is occurring. The procedure is slightly easier on a Prius v wagon because the rear seat slides forward. Many of the early models don't have a filter, they simply have a front grille.

Great video. Toyota may sell a filter for your CT200. They make them for older prii. 👍🇺🇸

Have you ideas about 2013 GS 450H it has two vents with no filters, has less than 50,000 miles but it’s a black car and gets really hot when parked.

They added a filter in the 16+ models it replaces the intake trim on the older models. I'm ordering one now

Hello @AutoScholarwithMrB I was wondering I'm from the same area as you I believe (Southside). I have a issue with my 2013 dodge ignition coil pack not screwing in to the valve cover and the screw just keeps spinning and now I'm getting the code for a misfire in cylinder 3 and not sure how to fix it do you have any ideas thank you.

Anyone know the part number to just replace this fan as opposed to cleaning it. Mine make an annoying noise.

Your video is excellent, I did exactly that, but the warning triangle and the hybrid check message appear and I go to the fuse panel and remove the white cable for 5 minutes and it goes back to normal after a few days and the hybrid goes back to alert , I already disassembled and reassembled the entire battery, removed it and detected zinabre on the contacts and cleaned it. But even so the warning message appeared, I remember that when you remove the cable from the fuse panel everything is 100% and when using the air conditioning it goes out. Does it have something to do with the car dashboard or the air conditioning compressor?

Did you really need to take apart the fan assembly? Compressed air was all that is needed. Of course you would not want to spin the fan much while cleaning it with air!

I think they added a filter from 2014 on, my CT200 is a 2011 model and did not have a filter fitted to the grill. I have bought one from a Lexus garage for just under £7 and will be fitting it at the weekend. I did not know about the battery fan until recently, I'm probably going to strip and clean my fan as I tend to have the right hand rear seat permanently down so my golf clubs can slide in (possibly dirt from the bottom of the bag may be getting sucked into the fan, we'll see). Useful video, thanks!!
