So beautifully played - thank you Annie. My mum died recently and we listened to this together a lot in her last days. Even though it has made me cry again - this is such a wonderful piece of music and I am so grateful to have these memories.
This first movement (out of three) is quite easy to play, which is one reason why it's so well known. (As with any classical music, it's harder to play with great beauty, phrasing, and expression than it is just to get the notes out, and she does a pretty good job of that, so you're right, she is at least pretty good.) It is quite charming that she is not only playing it, but the manner in which she is, with such reverence and acknowledging that it's not easy for her! Those terms are more used for jazz music but it translates to something like this : Voicing = arrangement of harmony Phrasing = arrangement of notes and thematic development
Guys, VocalEdgeTV is using the terms correctly. Stop correcting them when you don't know what you're talking about. In the context of classical piano playing, phrasing refers (more or less) to how the relative timing and volume of the notes relate to each other within a phrase. Voicing refers to the relative volume between the notes in a chord. That's markedly different in jazz, where you get to chose which notes of the chords you play.
as a child we lived in a large house sectioned off into separate apartments. someone in the neighbouring apartment played Moonlight Sonata. ours apartments were separated by a lead light glass door with one small transparent panel near the floor. I grew up thinking of AL as this though, androgynous lady, and instead she is so sweet and feminine and yet so down to Earth and smart - and an amazing artist!
Annie. Whatever you do turns to gold.
Last night on Stephen Colbert, he asked celebrities what song they would pick to listen to for the rest of their life. This is the song I picked. Thank you.
That was really quite lovely. Annie always bring such a passion to her music. I miss the 80s. It was a great decade of music and musicians.
That was stunning Annie. Thank you. I am just learning piano at the young age of 59 and hope someday to be able to play that piece as good as you did.
Please keep them coming and stay safe.
Im a massive Blue Nile fan and loved your cover.
Absolutely beautiful!
It's song is about life. It's Annie Lennox life. A house, a woman, a piano, a bird. And a hungry for art and music.
It is not a "song" but a "piece". Typical mistake of people which don't listen often classical music.
@@MichaelBartekOrg That's just protocol, what prevaricates here is cordiality.
I am from Brazil, and i don't speak English. In reality, it is my second or thirdly dialogue in english...
Moonlight sonata was the first piece of live classical music that I ever heard -when I was about 20 and living in a hall of residence at my uni a girl near me was playing something on a piano in the common room and I asked her what it was and she said "The Moonlight sonata of Beethoven."
I confess that I know very little about classical music but I know what I like.
I think that you played it beautifully. It is such a warm peaceful piece of music.
What’s important is how you feel when you play.
All that practice paid off.
Take care and have a nice day.
So beautiful. Indescribable
Charmed but not surprised by who is for me a very sincere artist: Annie Lennox.
There's nothing quite as beautiful as Annie's smile!
БРАВО!!!❤❤❤
She plays it perfectly, even with distraction. Bravo!
Pavel's Mom not really too many pauses
I so Love This Generous,Loving, and Beautiful Artist, she is one of the Worlds Conscious, and Gifted Individuals, who Truely Cares about Humanity, and she has done a lot to Help, with her time her talent and her Money, Bless Her
This is what you call class and elegance.....so desperately needed today.
Who can be most interresting by music than a bird !!! I love you Annie 🧡🧡🧡
ANNIE LENNOX IS THE CLASSIEST ACT IN THE WORLD. BRAVO...and the voice of an angel
Absolutely
@@lauradealmeida4173 you know i was lucky enough many years ago to hear Miss Lennox sing Angel just on her own, it is a whole new ball game when you are sitting in the audience listening to an Angel. She came into our lives and like a good wine aged so well. Class Act
i got my Father hooked on her.
@@stephenfermoyle4578 How beautiful - Like Son Like Father! Good you can share music with one another my mother and father gave to me all their music throughout my young life and I treasure them all because of the quality and talent each had. Music truly is a moral law we must have it share it and enjoy
@@lauradealmeida4173 so sweet of you..yes and my Father has an amazing singing voice which he passed on to me and the love of the American Standards which i was performing before all the madness hit it is all about music.
@@stephenfermoyle4578 Thank you, You know it's funny I have passed on to my son all of my music and he has shared all that he loves with me, it is immediate, he says mom, i want to play this guy for you and no matter what i am doing i have to stop and listen. My son is incredibly talented with guitar, drums and his voice is like no other. Music keeps us alive!!!
Her beauty and talent has persisted throughout the years.
Wonderful. The world is better with you in it, Annie Lennox. Without you, the Eurythmics would've been pretty boring. I still play your music constantly.
Beethoven certainly can see it and love Annie, like us!
She's very special!
She transforms everything she does in a statement of art.
I enjoyed that as much as the little bird did. Love you Annie.
Her wonderful performance is a great gift to the moon lovers
My father used to play this often.. miss it.
Good to see a bonafide "superstar" being so humble and continuing to appreciate art! How refreshing!!!!!!!
Annie has managed to stay sane and normal while other 'celebs' have crashed and burned.
I think that's the sign of greatness.
No crazy surgeries trying to look young and still looks great.
I surmise she put her insane and abnormal into her music. That's not a put down, by the way. I know all Eurythmics music and a bit of Annie solo...there's a dark side in her performances. I think art is an excellent way to self-integrate the madness of being a human.
@@mmedefarge : She has consciously written songs ( or covered them) that put down snobbishness, vulgar displays of wealth, and the preference of so much of society to be "young and beautiful". Go listen to her Diva album.
@@RC-xo6et I've listened to a lot of Lennox's music and I like her solo works the best. She's an authentic person. Not a lot of those in the entertainment industry.
Absolutely love Annie Lennox. What a legend.
Excellent Beautiful🎹🎹🎹🎹 😊😊😊😊💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖A real Lady
Thank you Annie, Beethoven, and little bird
It's so beautiful
Thank you so much
Love you
Annie!!! your reaction to the bird is the sweetest given the circumstances :)
I loved it and I love you Annie. Greetings from Chile!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
By the way. I am a teacher and we have a student named Eurythmics!!!
Looks like she’s doing well. Good! I hope she’s happy in life
I also have all kinds of birds in and around my cottage on the Snowy River. I’m so glad to find Annie living such a simple and contented life. ❤️
She didn't finish it, but glad she shared. I just recently learned the second movement of this sonata. Now on to the third movement! Oh my! Thanks, Annie.
Good work. The 3rd movement is pretty challenging!
@@benkershaw5063 It is, but I've started and know that it will take some time. But, interestingly enough, it's quite fun to learn.
That's right....she didn't play my favourite section close to the end....with those heart-stopping descending chords (perhaps it was the bird distracting her 🤔) I must admit that I didn't notice she wasn't playing it in the original key... 😅
She could totally mess it up and I'd still love it! She's one of THE BEST! ❤❤❤❤❤
The beginning of that sonata gets me every time...lucky no one is around.
Me too. It's just SO damn profound, like nothing else . . .
As if, "actually yes," there is a God. According, that is, to all creation, goodness, beauty, truth, music, and, the excellent talent, soul, and, discipline of Annie Lennox. Thank you Annie. Beautifully done. And, there was someone around. 🙂
That first note gave me goosebumps
@Phineas Gage I just realized "humor" was erroneously ommitted from the list. 🙂 And, of note, Beethoven himself did compose an oratorio. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ_on_the_Mount_of_Olives_(Beethoven)
So agree.....
