    I'm with you on the throw blankets, but throw pillows are a big no for me. They look like clutter to me and I find them super annoying to deal with.

    Candles are a good addition to bring in a soft light, fragrance and ambience. Great video Mia

    If you're able to stay relatively classy about it, I'm a huge fan of LED light strips for soft lightning (behind furniture that's on a wall, above cabinets, etc.). They take up basically zero space, good on electricity, are remote controlled, and are cool as hell / definitely create a mood.

    I LOVE that you mentioned fake plants. I’ve killed bamboo, so live plants are just a no for me. However, I have lots of high quality artificial plants that people have often thought were real. They’re not inexpensive, but they are worth the investment. I also loved your tone about the plants, because some people have REALLY tried to convince me to get real ones, LOL!

      @@metrorealty7631 I’ve gotten most of mine at Marshalls, but Amazon has some nice ones as well. I got my ferns from there.

      rather cut a part of a plant that would grow back, plant pots of real plants then destroy the environment even more by encouraging the production of syntactic waste.

    I love your channel and the advice you give. In this case I think you may be conflating minimalist design with a minimalist lifestyle. They are distinct concepts. You are giving minimalist design tips here, but one can have a clutter free home and live a minimalist lifestyle with other types of decor, even those that include colors, patterns, more objects (than minimalist design) and layering.

    Hi Mia! Just found your channel! I’m finally investing in higher quality pieces in our home now as our kids are a little older and more self-controlled 🤪 I’m half dead so my visual and tactile senses are much more acute; I love having an uncluttered home and am starting to give more consideration to textural pieces in our home. I’m streamlining our color palette too 🎨 Thanks for you let content 💛🤟🏼

    A question I’m mulling over is how to “do cozy” in the summertime? Our summer temps get above 100*f - how do you create a cozy space without using materials that are warming 🥵 (like wool, etc)?

    • @MiaDanielle
      @MiaDanielle  Před 2 lety +7

      Ooh, this is a great question! I should totally do a video on it. I think there are still things you can do to evoke that delicious sensation we associate as ‘cozy’ even without the warm and fuzzy materials. There’s the nature component: wood, stone, plants. The lighting component: clear, dim, warm. And you can still use textures and cushions that are soft and deep without the furs and wools ☺️

      @@MiaDanielle I just indulged in the throw pillow aisle at Target and realized how drawn I was to the linen and velvet ones! Great feels but not too warm. There was even a rabbit fur pillow that had a slight chill to the touch 🥰

    I was never someone who cared about natural light and kept the blinds closed until I got into plants. Now it feels wrong to have the blinds closed. Like, my babies need light! 🥺 Also, pro tip: if you're worried about nosey/creepy neighbors looking in, sheer white curtains will be your bestfriend. You can see out, and they let bright but filtered light in (which is what most plants love), but during the day, it's nearly impossible to see in from the outside.

    • @MiaDanielle
      @MiaDanielle  Před 2 lety +1

      Good tip! Unfortunately, my plants still don't live quite as long as I'd like but I'm working on it!

      @Mia Danielle I recommend pothos plants. I had one before I learned how to take care of plants (I'm still not great, and I still kill some), and she survived me. I still have her _years_ later, or parts of her from cuttings. They are tough and can usually bounce back.
      Planterina is a great channel for learning about plants and how to take care of them.

I love the feel of your videos and I'm really enjoying the content! I've considered a honeycomb sectional sofa for extra portability and flexibility, but what I really want is a black sofa with a soft, sublime, very pillowy, and compact look, like a budget sofa a teenager might get for his first apartment.
    Something about dark colored sofas and beds seems alternative, yet very inviting with just the right texture. I don't think a vegan leather couch would make the same impression.

      I'm not familiar with a honeycomb sectional. I'll have to look that up!
