Kungfu Master Walks Into MMA Gym To Teach HILARITY ENSUES

  • Floating around is footage of a self-proclaimed Kungfu master who went into a MMA gym to teach an MMA coach how to properly punch and step etc. At first the MMA coach listens and tries to just see if he can find anything good in the teachings. Eventually they spar. Wait for that. It's hilarious! Hope you enjoy my commentary and after-commentary story. Later research helped us discover that this coach is Yao Shuoyu. After much research, it turns out the MMA coach is actually a former pro in the cage! His name is Yao Shuoyu (陶烁宇). So that's another good lesson for anyone going into a new dojo. Do your research. This MMA coach really showed a lot of restraint just tapping our "master" a little bit when they sparred. Imagine how much training it took Coach Yao to get to his pro level, and then some random dude who can't even keep his balance when striking walks into his place to try to teach him some secret techniques. We also found another angle of this gymstorm. It's in the video titled "Kungfu: Bad and Good."

    Gym etiquette is the key here, you really shouldn't show up in somebody else's space and act that way, and it definitely goes both ways. Sometimes you just have to sit through bad coaching and get out at the first chance possible. It happens a lot in martial arts and is painful for everyone, even onlookers.

The coach say everyone down at the end of class to talk about how easily you can knock people out (as a brag not a warning) and how you can get in movies. I spent the tune thinking 'what an idiot' and stopped the class. When learning a deadly art you should understand and respect what you're doing and your opposition.

      @@teknix314 Bruce Lee actually helped bring a lot of the eastern stuff to the west but he challenged the old traditional stuff. (I don't interpret this as disrespect just a search for truth) It's necessary to test all things. What if a big black thug grabs your GF and starts r*ping her in front of you? You better not use flashy show offy moves and actually do things that work or else you will get the blame for not being man enough to protect her. That's the core reason people do martial arts: to beat up their own teacher if he ever turns evil. LOL In the west we believe in the scientific method which is you come up with hypothesis, use an experiment to test the hypoethesis by predicting what result you should get before you do the experiment using that hypothesis, and then after the test is done and results come in, you get an answer of either the hypothesis being true or false. If untrue you throw it out. If true it's then re-tested over and over again by others (called peer review) and then finally becomes a fact when anyone can take the same exact experiment to their own lab, do it themselves to prove its true. This is the process we use to figure out what is real and what is made up.
      Without the scientific method we are just speculating and theorising and nobody can trust things on the face of it. You got to test everything your own teacher taught you by getting him to fight other people who say they are better. If he loses you should learn from the guy that beat him. That is not disrespect to your teacher, that is your teacher learning to respect people that are higher in rank. So the teacher should humbly say to his student "I have nothing to teach you that you wouldn't be able to learn from my rival" and learn from the guys that are better than him. This rule also applies in life. If you are a chess grandmaster and win all the tournaments then you have nothing to learn from people you beat consistently. Respect goes both ways: student should not respect a teacher that won't respect people that beat him in fights. Instead respect the guys that prove their method works scientifically through repeat testing. The day it stops working is when you got to adapt to new information and that is what Bruce Lee meant by "Be like Water". ie you are molded by the things around you, and water shapes itself to the container its poured into. His philosophies are actually more important than his invented fighting style.

    I owned LA Boxing Franchise Corporation. From 1992-2003 we had a couple locations then in 03 we started franchising and by 07 had 121 sold and 70 or so open I. 19 states plus Puerto Rico. We taught Boxing, Muay Thai and BJJ. I tell you that to say this, I’ve seen these very things happen more times than I can count. The karate/king fu/etc person thinks they are so amazing until the sparring starts. Our rules of the ring were (we sold to the UFC gym in 2012), “Punch as hard as you want to be punched.” We also gave 3 warnings to chill if they got froggy. After that if you’re still “angry punching” our guys are free and clear to KO you. It happened but rarely. As most people stopped after one or two warnings. But after the sparring those people always had WAY more respect for Boxing/Muay Thai. 😂😂😂 They would them sit around and want to talk to us, which we of course did similar to what we see here, we always allowed someone to say their piece as long as they were respectful. But it is hilarious how universal these scenarios are at all MMA Gyms. I understand completely as I was a karate guy myself prior to boxing and after a single 3 minute round in the ring I realized I had literally wasted all those years in karate (Tang Soo Do for me). So I get it. But once you are presented with the truth. Most accept but a few get what we call, “Wrong and Strong”. 😂😂😂. Great Video. Sorry for the TL;DR comment 😜

    this was very entertaining. i notice in addition to "iron-face" technique, kung fu guys are very fond of "run forward throwing slaps and punches like a hyperactive schoolgirl". is there a name for this? it seems like the opposite of logical well-formed kung fu technique, for when all that orderly training breaks down in an actual fight. presumably this is very intimidating and overwhelming for non-experts and keeps them in their place ... but trained fighters don't seem to have much of a problem since it's just a combination of things they trained for from day one

    • @unmessable12
      @unmessable12 Před rokem

      It's kind of what everyone does when they don't have much combat experience regardless of whether they do kung fu or not. The "orderly training" most arts do is a farce that doesn't build much perceivable skill or structure. Doing watered down forms with no actual gong fu frame and then learning some applications from your teacher who also doesn't know how to fight does not a master make. It's a valid strategy to close the distance fast and overwhelm your opponent, and it makes a lot of sense in a non-sporting context. But if you have no understanding of how to attack and defend yourself properly that strategy just becomes bum rushing.

      These idiots don't even spar. I had joined a Wing Chun school and the teacher was Chinese, they didn't spar, no pushups, no bag workout. To be honest I would bet everything that these kids who trained there would get their asses kicked.
      I trained at a different school and the teacher here was a white dude, he was an MMA fighter, purple belt in BJJ, he was good with MT and Judo, he also boxed. He focussed a lot on sparring, power training and the most important: pressure training. His training was very hard but effective. There are so many similarities between Wing Chun and BJJ and it's sad that 99% of most Wing Chun schools don't teach it because if you understand how Wing Chun actually works then it's very easy to understand how BJJ works.
      These fake sifu's are funny, I'm glad the Chinese government is going after them after Xu exposed them. How the heck do you want to KO someone if you never do any pushup, pad training or any other power training. It's a joke.

    I think there is a value to kung fu practicioners. Hear me out. Without realising it they are integrating social discourse in the midst of sparring/fighting. They will suddenly stop randomly in the midst of a fight and start lecturing/teaching you why your position/technique is wrong, and out of politeness you will stop and listen, then they randomly continue and give you some "showcase punches/kicks" (slowly chipping damage at you). They are thinking outside the box! They have successfully weaponized social etiquette and integrated it into kung fu, they are basically using politeness against you! deadly.
