Very helpful; thank you. However - have a question. After filling the address etc. I did not have to upload my child's photo etc, or fill part-A and B. I had filled the application before. So, it just said I had already completed those Part-A and uploaded images. But in that session I chose a wrong option (by mistake I chose CHANGE OF PASSPORT PARTICULARS. Will this process fine? Also, now, its asking me to upload proof of residence and employment letter rather than passport.

Same process in teh UK , however it took me a lot of time due to teh archaic way the website is setup and is not user friendly, poor user experience.

Hello Sir - In the OCI renewal, can we Upload the same photo which we used for applying the passport.
Hello my photo was rejected , so does it mean I have to reapply all over again as I am not able to access the previous application.
I had the same issue. How are we supposed to ensure the photo is the size they need and the size of the signature. I took both photos from my iPhone to upload so clearly that’s not the right way to do it. Also, no video instructions on what is deemed acceptable vs unacceptable.
Interestingly enough they are suitable for submission but then you get a rejection email!

QUESTION: When people fly from USA small towns to Europe and then from there to India, in USA the agent checking in compares the passport number I have in the OCI with my US passport number and if they dont match, sometimes they create a problem or refuse boarding. This could happen in Europe too on the way to India. How will updating my passport with this process help???

Im not getting the option for Passport Particulars Updation (4:51) and only Address/Occupation Updation. I renewed my passport on fed 23rd 2018 and turned 20 on may 14th 2018 so I just need to update the new details of my OCI right? My OCI was issued on 2008 and says it has a lifelong validity (I never updated my OCI since then).. Can anyone help me...
And I tried just updating my Address/ Occupation option but only asking to change address and not new passport number..

I've uploaded new photo, sign as per size requirement and new passport pdf and received a system generated confirmation email straight away saying my application has been submitted, my question is when I travel to India? Should I'll be getting an another email saying my oci is updated with new details!?

Arre uncle if you didnt renounce Indian citizenship then that document is still valid (passport) - So how they will issue you OCI.
For the section where it says enter latest passport number on which oci(u-visa) transferred. Which passport information do we give. Our current passport, or the old passport that has the visa sticker, or the oci passport number because it doesn't accept any.
What if I applied USA passport renewal in India....what should be the "Issue Place " mentioned, USA or India?

Hi! When i checked this page today the option you used to update passport details does not appear. And there are three options under the chargeable services instead. Would that be the correct choice which would provide the acknowledgment email? I’m concerned it would result in reissuance of the oci as a whole

This OCI sucks, portal is very old and basic, took me 6 hrs to upload photo and signature of 10yr old child. System doesn't accept it easily and then you get 20questions to answer just like you apply for the first time for OCI. It is mot worth this headache as its not renewing or updating details. They ask you to fill more than 20questions. Upload photo, signature and documents etc. Get a visa instead and save your valuable time.

OCI whole process sucks, get a visa and save your time. Never ending questions to complete online.
Did you have to upload photocopy of passport as well?
Yes and that is PART B after your first photo and thumbprint / sign image submission

It's little unclear, if you are less than 50 yrs old. You have OCI. You renewed the US passport, if you need to go through OCI MISC or wait till 50 to update. Also not sure if we can travel. Answers from VFS is not clear also.
Update everytime your passport is renewed.
As far as i understand, you dont need to update between age 21-50
My thoughts after reading their website:
If you are under 20 years or over 50 years and need an OCI renewal, all you need to do is upload documents and use the existing oci book/card....
Otherwise, you will need a reissue of oci...
So in your case, if you are say 45 years and can wait to renew your passport beyond 50 then do so after 50...so that you can avoid reapplying for oci renewal...

@@mehtakalpita No need to wait for the confirmation email. You can travel immediately after updating. Hope this helps. You can travel with the new passport and the Old OCI card
@@mehtakalpita we had to eventually apply for a travel visa instead valid for one year, it’s cheap easy and fast for emergency
@@santhrasathian5109 hello we had no issues going to India with existing OCI. They didn’t even ask for old US passport or travel visa.
