- This week I wanted to address an issue we always had at the old shop, metal supply sortment. Before we would have to pile metal on metal and when it was time to get what we needed it could be a real headache. Well here at the new shop that aint gonna fly so we gotta build some racks to get this metal sorted!

Just a thought, paint or wrap the refrigerator to look like an old fashion soda machine and set it in front of the tool room, like it would be set in front of on old gas station/service shop.

Nice job on the racks. You mentioned needing a suggestion for mowing. You might get a 8n ford tractor and a 5ft finish mower. Those tractors are pretty cheap here in michigan you can find a good runner for $2000. A finish mower for $500-$600. Much nicer mow job than a brush hog. I mow in second gear and can do a couple acres in under an hour. If the ford needs a little service that would be great second channel content.

I've been subscribed to both channels for well over a year, and I enjoy both.
It amazes me how offended you get for a content creator that you don't know. I make a facetious remark laced with humor, and you feel like you have to run to his defense. Lighten up, guy, there's no malice here.
Awesome shop. Just remember to tell your critics, "If you're gonna be turds, go lay in the yard!". Those of us that have been watching since almost the beginning know that your best content is yet to come.
Puddin, Please take a 3" angle iron and install it against the bottom of your racks, and bolt it through the wall into a 2x6 on the closet side. Personally I would not feel comfortable working under that much metal, only supported by 8 lag bolts. If you can install the bolts at a slight upward angle, also change the top lag on each rack to a through bolt. Keep safe, mostly
I think if it were that heavy it would bring the roof down with it. ❤❤
The shearing force needed for one lag bolt is around 3500lbs, times that by 8 =28000lbs. I don’t think he’s got that much steel on there 🤔

I agree with @rich7934 putting angle iron right down to the floor so that supports the weight.
I WOULD NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE AT ALL WITH ONLY THOSE LAG BOLTS HOLDING THE WEIGHT, THROUGH WOOD YET, YIKES !
Eight bolts, washers, nuts with a steel backing plate on the inside wall will keep the braces from pulling out.

It never ends, you will get tired of the way things are set up now and then and come up with better ways to organize things.
Mount the English wheel and the bead roller on the wall with some big heave duty hinges. So you can swing them out of the way

Do what you got to do and don't worry about the naysayers, they're not going anywhere. It doesn't take a genius to know you're putting together a news shop, and it's not going to snap itself together overnight.
I think decorating and building the shop is the fun stuff, I could careless if your not working on cars, I just like watching. Two things. 1. Pine tree rows make for good neighbor barriers as well 2. speaking from experience I’d highly recommend biting the bullet and just go with an in ground on your pool.

@@doctorprick2843 I’d totally disagree with that the off-season is a great time to put in a pool because you can get a much better price. The family will probably still use the crap out of it especially Hot Rod, she a perfect age for it and the investment is already made for when/if grand babies ever come in the picture *YEARS* down the road. I see what your saying because the novelty can wear off and it becomes a chore till the next generation comes along but in my experience it’s totally worth it.

more shop work love it puddin . should move that fancy welding bench in to the middle of the end bay as if it was a car parked there , you will have access to all sides of the bench and that means 4 of them not 1 like you got now you got plenty more bays to park cars in , also be able to walk all the way round when you set the model a chassis on it , buy a spray can of olive oil / canola oil (for cooking ) spray that bench down with it and use that beast for what its designed for ,welding and fabing the olive oil will stop the mig spatter from sticking to your bench and rust . also find 10 to 15 foot of wall space to set up a bench/rack for your chop saw (some where close to your steel rack ) its a game changer chop saw is ready to cut walk up throw on the material and cut , prob the single best thing i ever done in my new shop besides the 2 post hoist and a forklift aah the forklift life changer . any way puddin im in no hurry for you to back to project work (cars) im loving this content

I feel ya on settin the shop up. We moved out here (OK) about a year and half ago and I’m still arranging and rearranging the shop almost daily. Your shop is looking good and I enjoy all the videos you put out whether it’s car related or shop related..

Fireball Tool, if you folks are interested, has some awesome welding tables, clamps, angles and such. Great vise breaking videos too. But my guess is these tables Puddin got on sale, we're on sale for a reason.
Take as long as you need on the shop man. Youre right when you say it will be counterproductive with a half set up shop trying to fab some of the awesome stuff we all know you got planned!! Content is content and we all love you!

Thanks for the welding tips! I went to school for welding but I've only welded twice in the last 40 years and both times using someone else's equipment.I have a buz bocks in my garage that I've never used, 20 years later I should get an outlet wired for it and see if it works.
Don't worry about just shop and getting everything organized and the way you want it it's your family home your yard and your shop. I love it keep doing awesome brother
Really like your solutions for metal storage, repurposing the barrel is an awesome idea. I really wish I could have set up my shop from the jump but I grew into mine and now I’m out growing it. Love the content, take your time getting things together because it will only make for a happier puddin down the road and we all want a happy puddin, Mortske is grumpy enough for all of CZcams 😁

Have to admit I miss the wrenching but these videos are also good! I'd much rather watch you put together your shop and realize your dream than not have any videos waiting for the wrenching to begin in the shop. Take your time and set it up the way you need/want it!
I gotta admit Puddin'. I've enjoyed watching you put this awesome shop together. It shows a different side of your creativity. Project cars will happen, but being organized will help to progress on those builds in a much more timely fashion!

Loving that scrap barrel. I noticed you had 2 dimple dies left from the cut. They would make the perfect little handles on the side of it. My buddy collects the old steel mattress frames from garage sales, etc, usually really cheap, to use as some of his 'angle iron' to build with. Its funny how you had all that stuff in that tiny old shop and now you got all this space and you re running out of places to put stuff. It grew on you!
Also, once the new addition is built, there will be more room to continue to store / arrange stuff.........

May want to look into covering the 220 drop cord next to your sheet metal. Would hate to see you pull a sheet out and cut into the cord.
I absolutely love how you Repurposed the old trash can! Favorite part of the video. Looks perfect sitting in your metal storage area, Great job puddin!
The issue you mentioned with the dark bars in your video when you're in the fab shop could be a couple of issues. Is that room's electric running through a different electrical box? LEDS have a cycle rate and when you get those bars it usually means the cycle rate of the LEDs and the shutter speed on your camera are out of phase.
If it's 60fps, it shouldn't be an issue, as far as flicker.
Hey Puddin, before you get all the floor space covered you need to put 4 anchors deep through the cement so you have some hooks to pull frames if you ever need to. You aren’t planning on that situation but it would be nice to know you are ready if you ever find the need. Sorry I’m a little late, I should have mentioned that before you poured the floor. But you are magic at solving problems so I’m sure you can come up with something and a few bags of cement. Only other thing I would want of it were my dream garage would be a permanent overhead crane. I’m sure you could rig one of those too. Lmao. Show them how to make a port a power and power cherry picker with a Volvo electric power steering unit. Lol. I really need to comment before I take my meds. Love the videos, thanks for the entertainment.

Wow you read my comment and ya DID IT WOW. You have a lift to use. All the stuff you did is fantastic and I`m sure your heart is swelling up big time.. I`m envious as hell. I hid what your doing in 1995, but it was only a rental. But still it was gradifing to see it all decked out. Seven years ago I turned 65 and had medicare and 20 days later dummy me didn`t use jack stands and a truck fell on me breaking my collasr bone and poking a big hole in my neck using the U bolts on the rear axel. Luckily the "Guvmint" paid for it and I healed quick but that was only the begining of a series of hospital and doctors resulting in going broke and haveing to sell out and move my stuff I had left and now most of it has ben stolen so whatever. enjoy it all my friend , I would love to come see it in person someday. God bless you and yours , but just look, I think He has!!!!

I am loving seeing the shop build, I don't care There is no building cars at the moment, getting prepared is all good, I love the chit chat, the tidying the changes, it all adds to the flavour, plenty of car channels to watch if you just want that content, but us Puddin' fans like the WHOLE story, including the set up of the. That 's a lot of filming this week for the main channel video Thanks Puddin. I really enjoyed this one several small projects achieved and a well hung pepper you are getting there. Always remember no matter how big your shop is there never seems to be enough room around the walls.
I became a subscriber after you rebuilt the big box truck 2 months or so when it was posted to when you first moved into your new shop and became emotional about the support from wifie and us which made me realize that you do a lot for your channel and I have been willing to watch the 2 hour videos since than as you are setting up your dream shop. Keep up the good work and keep following your dreams.
