I was raised in a Pentecostal church we had music like this which I love but as far as handling snakes we never did. God gave me enough since to not pick that serpent up. But the singing and preaching love every minute of it.

If the Lord intended for his people to play with snakes they would not harm you and he would have attached one to you. Don't even try to come at me with the it's a show of faith. Matthew 4:7 says you shall not test the Lord your God. Romans 10:17 says Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Your faith is built by getting into God's word and building a relationship with him just like you do with a person. There is many ways of showing your faith and trust in him besides playing with snakes. God gives us common sense and natural instincts to avoid bringing harm to yourself. Chosing him first everyday is Faith. The scripture you people are quoting and basing this ignorance off of is intended to inform God's people you have an authority over evil (satan/demons) through his Holy Spirit. If you really study and show yourself approved to teach his word (2 Timothy 2:15) serpant in that scripture refers to devils. When Eve took of the forbidden fruit the Lord stated woman would have authority over the devil and would no longer be fooled by him. He allowed our eyes to be opened to good and evil. I'm not a back slider and I don't handle serpents, but I have seen the def ears unlocked, blind eyes opened, and cancer fall completely off of a dying man's body. And guess what, I didn't have a serpent in my hand. When I stand before God, I won't be judged on how many snakes I handled, but by my fruit. My faithfulness, and obidience to his word. Both Miss. Coots and Mrs. Sailor died from the crash. The lady driving the Trailblazer did live with injuries. If I remember all this right. Such a tragedy and so sad..
I'm Pentecostal and never have been to a snake handling church, maybe because in Indianapolis where I'm at don't allow it, but you can feel the spirit moving in that church. If I ever get over that way, I will definitely see if I can go to a service, and fellowship and worship with these brothers and sister of Lord. We had some of the older women at our church that were from Kentucky and West Virginia which is where my kin come from, and they said they had grew up in them old time churches, where they said they truly were "holy rollers" and that if God told you to pick up that snake, then honey you better pick it up. Otherwise later he would whoop you. Show you better do what he told you to do. They said they grew up that way n there was nothing wrong with it, but that they had come to Indiana for jobs and got stuck here, and so they eventually found a Pentecostal church here. The only difference is that they don't handle snakes. They speak in tongues, shout, and lay hands on the sick, and prophecy and all of that, everything but the snakes. Lol! So if I do get over there I will definitely go to a service. I really wish I could go to the country and just stay, but I don't know if my hubby would like it. He's a city boy. Lol.
I am a Presbyterian Pastor and we are other side of the spectrum of church service. Very quite and teaching instead of preaching. I respect any religious organization who worship God thru Jesus Christ. We all have different ways we worship and I think God would be pleased as long as we worshiped Him.

While I may not agree with their version of Christianity, I admire them for practicing what they believe. I'd definitely be fascinated to check out a service.

Except Jesus is talking to his disciples that during the course of their mission to spread the gospel nothing will get in their way. Neither serpents nor poison. He’s clearly addressing the disciples and their specific task. Basically they would be immune from a lot of shit while they were spreading his word. It doesn’t apply to everyone and it certainly isnt an injunction to “prove” your faith by doing deadly shit. Besides, isn’t Mark 4:7 also “the word?” As in, “you shall not put the Lord your God to the test.” Because that’s what you are doing you know.
I sure don't agree with their practice and think it amounts to a mishandling and wrong division of Scripture but this music sure rocks. I defy anyone the ability to at least tap their feet when they hear these glorious tunes. Makes me feel like big Baloo from the Jungle Book showing up at King Louie's hang out. This is gut honest real and would rather the praise and worship at my Evangelical Free church sounded just a little bit more like what these Hillbilly folk are managing.
If I had been alive when my grandpa was a Pentecostal preacher, I might have gotten more out of the services. Unfortunately and most religious places you are forced to sit still. No rockin music in those places. The sad thing was about the Baptist place I was raised in, he tried to jam up the music but the people didn't like it....except me

I handle snakes for the kicks grins and giggles,but handling them as part of your religious beliefs? Please explain or at least point me in the right direction.
Do any of you observers understand what you are seeing as this video gains in emotional intensity with each passing note? I'll tell you. This is the formula or the process of their worship all leading to the same end result. In ORDER for the end to be successful, they must enter into what psychologists would call a heavy trance-like state of consciousness. ONLY in this state can the serpents be brought out and the participants feel safe to begin the handling process. These people would describe the process as merely allowing the Holy Spirit of God to descend....their having initiated the process with the period of singing, dancing, tongues, etc. Here is how they describe this part: They say that they must have the witness of the Holy Spirit BEFORE they bring the serpents out. In other words, this is their protection against being bitten. In actual practice, this is not always the case, since many of their numbers have been bitten and have either been made seriously ill or have died in the process. This exercise is exactly how the fire walkers in India and other areas of the world are able to walk on live fire coals and not be burned in the least. This process has been studied by science and the only conclusion that has come to is.....the human mind is capable of amazing feats such as these when performed under the proper preparatory exercises as you see in this video. Now for you students of the Bible, here is another point of interest. Mark 7 states that "none shall be harmed if they.....encounter these situations" (paraphrased). But in actual practice, that is NOT what these people experience....often they are KILLED on the spot or made so sick that they never recover their health. These people do not seem to see the contradiction between that statement of scripture and what they actually experience. Go figure.
This is extremely warped Biblical understanding. God clearly says He will protect us as His people, but no where in scripture does it say we should go out of our way to look for trouble. If fixing our eyes on Jesus takes us down a path with trouble then God will protect us (according to His will).. I am sure there were people that were following God when Israel was dragged in captivity time after time. However these people suffered the same wrath from their captures that other Israelites suffered. God protecting us does not always happen in a way that we expect and or understand. We as Christians should not taunt the evil one hoping that God will intervene. Rather we should run the race in such a way that God’s righteousness will be displayed on our lives. God and God alone is powerful enough to deal with Satan and it’s ways, we are not. This is not a church but rather a building filled with deceived people that rather than taking time to worship God are trying to prove that their idea of a God exists.
To that I say “AMEN”. God never said go forth and kill yourselves. Continued exposure to these snakes and handling them in such a manner is legitamitely suicide, the definition of it.

The Bible was not being specific to snakes when it said that, if you study the Greek & Hebrew it is in reference to a cunning or sly person such as the garden encounter, Eve DID NOT literally pick up the serpent she engaged in conversation with him.

That's not fair to be that way! You can't just remember one Bible verse, you have to also remember, "Judge not lest ye be judged!!" You gotta let God do the judging, and a better approach might be to invite the guy to y'all's church and see if the spirit moves him, and he may feel led to pick that serpent up! No offense, but god gave us the ability to do medicine and heal ourselves and each other by going to the doctor. He doesn’t want his people to suffer and die. He also helps those that help themselves. There is also a safer way to handle venomous serpents, maybe take some lessons because you all are doing everything you can to get bit. God may have said pick up the serpents, but he gave us intelligence and brains so we could avoid doing things the ignorant way. Hard to avoid Katrina dying in a car accident, but Kody, you don’t have to die or let your kids die this way. You are allergic, if you get bit again it’s over. Either be smart about handling them or look through the Bible and see if you are following every little rule, it’s impossible. And serpents are not a commandment anyways. I feel pain for your family.
As an Atheist I must admit that I was harsh against this group in the beginning, but they all kinda grew on me over the years and I even took to grabbing my guitar 🎸 occasionally and jamming right along with them. Perhaps it's just the musician in me? Katrina was a wonderful singer and musician I must admit. I've since communicated with Lil Cody a few times who told me that a lot has changed since then and he now is at Pastor Hamlin's church. Lil Cody has more recent CZcams videos out, but weirdly so I feel tied to this old crew. I literally had plans to travel and visit that church, but time waits for no one unfortunately.
There is more then that. They close it down when it hits 5 in 1 year I believe, at least they showed another of these churches in another city got shut down after the deaths were climbing.
People who grow up in Pentecostal Holiness and make it out, eventually realize the music is just to manipulate the emotions, and then are taught that it's the Holy Ghost. There is no scripture for most of the extra biblical standards that they hold and preach on. A woman will NOT go to hell if she wears pants or make up or jewelry or cuts and styles her hair. And a man will not go to hell for having a beard or wearing a watch or whatever the case may be. It is a false ideology. It is a cult where the pastors control the congregation and make them feel like they are so blessed to have him. There are so many in this cult that have hateful spirits and are gossipers and backbiters and sow division in the church. Beware of this false teaching, especially the snake handlers and the charismatics. I'm sure these people are great people but they are greatly deceived. I just can't understand the concept of these people. They can justify handling venomous snake's with children watching. That's why 4 generation's are still doing this, a child learn's what they live. Their son got bitten in the temple, but survived. Yet, they continue to worship this way. I would say they have real strong faith, when we would of given up. I do understand your point also.

Yes, this is the real thing. I interviewed his dad who was bitten by a snake and died. His son has taken over the church. The people who goes there are wonderful dedicated people.

This video was done for a class at the University for a religion class. Churches who handle snakes are very few because of State laws.

I'm Pentecostal and never have been to a snake handling church, maybe because in Indianapolis where I'm at don't allow it, but you can feel the spirit moving in that church. If I ever get over that way, I will definitely see if I can go to a service, and fellowship and worship with these brothers and sister of Lord. We had some of the older women at our church that were from Kentucky and West Virginia which is where my kin come from, and they said they had grew up in them old time churches, where they said they truly were "holy rollers" and that if God told you to pick up that snake, then honey you better pick it up. Otherwise later he would whoop you. Show you better do what he told you to do. They said they grew up that way n there was nothing wrong with it, but that they had come to Indiana for jobs and got stuck here, and so they eventually found a Pentecostal church here. The only difference is that they don't handle snakes. They speak in tongues, shout, and lay hands on the sick, and prophecy and all of that, everything but the snakes. Lol! So if I do get over there I will definitely go to a service. I really wish I could go to the country and just stay, but I don't know if my hubby would like it. He's a city boy. Lol.
I am a Presbyterian Pastor and we are other side of the spectrum of church service. Very quite and teaching instead of preaching. I respect any religious organization who worship God thru Jesus Christ. We all have different ways we worship and I think God would be pleased as long as we worshiped Him.

Neither serpents nor poison. He’s clearly addressing the disciples and their specific task. Basically they would be immune from a lot of shit while they were spreading his word. It doesn’t apply to everyone and it certainly isnt an injunction to “prove” your faith by doing deadly shit. Do any of you observers understand what you are seeing as this video gains in emotional intensity with each passing note? I'll tell you. This is the formula or the process of their worship all leading to the same end result. In ORDER for the end to be successful, they must enter into what psychologists would call a heavy trance-like state of consciousness. ONLY in this state can the serpents be brought out and the participants feel safe to begin the handling process. These people would describe the process as merely allowing the Holy Spirit of God to descend....their having initiated the process with the period of singing, dancing, tongues, etc. Here is how they describe this part: They say that they must have the witness of the Holy Spirit BEFORE they bring the serpents out. In other words, this is their protection against being bitten. In actual practice, this is not always the case, since many of their numbers have been bitten and have either been made seriously ill or have died in the process. This exercise is exactly how the fire walkers in India and other areas of the world are able to walk on live fire coals and not be burned in the least. This process has been studied by science and the only conclusion that has come to is.....the human mind is capable of amazing feats such as these when performed under the proper preparatory exercises as you see in this video.
Now for you students of the Bible, here is another point of interest. Mark 7 states that "none shall be harmed if they.....encounter these situations" (paraphrased). But in actual practice, that is NOT what these people experience....often they are KILLED on the spot or made so sick that they never recover their health. These people do not seem to see the contradiction between that statement of scripture and what they actually experience. Go figure.

This is extremely warped Biblical understanding. God clearly says He will protect us as His people, but no where in scripture does it say we should go out of our way to look for trouble. If fixing our eyes on Jesus takes us down a path with trouble then God will protect us (according to His will).. I am sure there were people that were following God when Israel was dragged in captivity time after time. However these people suffered the same wrath from their captures that other Israelites suffered. God protecting us does not always happen in a way that we expect and or understand.
We as Christians should not taunt the evil one hoping that God will intervene. Rather we should run the race in such a way that God’s righteousness will be displayed on our lives. God and God alone is powerful enough to deal with Satan and it’s ways, we are not. This is not a church but rather a building filled with deceived people that rather than taking time to worship God are trying to prove that their idea of a God exists.
To that I say “AMEN”. God never said go forth and kill yourselves. Continued exposure to these snakes and handling them in such a manner is legitamitely suicide, the definition of it.

@@drServitis If you feel in your spirit to pick up a serpent that's fine and that's what God wants you to do, but you can't tell somebody they're going to hell for not doing it! That's not fair to be that way! You can't just remember one Bible verse, you have to also remember, "Judge not lest ye be judged!!" You gotta let God do the judging, and a better approach might be to invite the guy to y'all's church and see if the spirit moves him, and he may feel led to pick that serpent up! No offense, but god gave us the ability to do medicine and heal ourselves and each other by going to the doctor. He doesn’t want his people to suffer and die. He also helps those that help themselves. There is also a safer way to handle venomous serpents, maybe take some lessons because you all are doing everything you can to get bit. God may have said pick up the serpents, but he gave us intelligence and brains so we could avoid doing things the ignorant way. As an Atheist I must admit that I was harsh against this group in the beginning, but they all kinda grew on me over the years and I even took to grabbing my guitar 🎸 occasionally and jamming right along with them. Perhaps it's just the musician in me? Katrina was a wonderful singer and musician I must admit. I've since communicated with Lil Cody a few times who told me that a lot has changed since then and he now is at Pastor Hamlin's church. Lil Cody has more recent CZcams videos out, but weirdly so I feel tied to this old crew. I literally had plans to travel and visit that church, but time waits for no one unfortunately.
