  • I decided to compare my 2001 F350 7.3 with the 5" straight pipe to my previous 2002 F250 7.3 with a 4" straight pipe that i owned in 2014. I personally love the 5" more even tho the backpressure is probably lower than it should be for the truck to perform best, but this only means one thing... always room for improvement lol

    Can’t really do a sound comparison with a short bed and a long bed. The length of exhaust makes a difference in sound.

    👏👏Agreed Nick the 5 inch sounds deeper and I prefer it too..... Boy how the little ones grow up! Great video bro 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😉

    This whole lack of back pressure thing is funny and how many people perpetuate the fallacy.

    • @The4Ryder
      @The4Ryder Před 2 měsíci

      massflow is fixed at given RPM, the only thing the exh does is create some backpressure. Not fallacy. Physics.

    Should get the mirror conversion kit they make for these. Makes them look like the 2011+ F350.

      Robert Breeden I put those mirrors on my 03 7.3 xl and love them. Just got the switch so I can wire the power mirrors up, but hooked the running light to the parking light wire behind the light switch. Ran the heat on its own toggle switch.

    Less back pressure is always better. In your case you’re losing exhaust gas velocity with the 5”.

    Honestly I'd like to do a 4" 3/4 of the way then one of those duramax "fresh air injector” exhaust tips, then the rest 5" back.... Those 8in exhaust tips make it look like you have no boost.

      I have a 5 inch on my truck and had to remove it. Also the 5 inch needs clearance by the trans support, or at least mine did nothing a 3lb sledge cant adjust

    That was too cute the flash back segment, lol. Who knew kids seats are just junior racing seats. Yeah I only made my 97 7.3 and my 03 6.0 out of 4" as it's what I had laying around plus I knew I wasn't going over 500hp with any motor work I was doing but you installing the 5" that means you can strap on a 6.4's compound turbo set up, lol. Keep it a manageable 650-750hp eh, 😉

      5" is louder and has more of a choppy sound to it. Also is a slightly tighter fit. Had both and 5" is the way to go. Plus the egts dropped about 100° while cruising
