I’m from Ardoyne and what I’d like to point is that people on both sides are dying now by suicide at a severely scary rate. This trauma has continued through generations as a result of the troubles. Fuck the conflict we need help for our young.
Thank you so much for uploading this, I’m a moderator-manager on the A Troubled Land channel, now going through a CZcams hiatus and I really appreciate this documentary of this painful period.
The Ardoyne school protests was one of the dumbest things Loyalists have ever done shooting themselves in both feet and causing their greatest PR disaster in front of the entire world. Johnny Adair was pretty smart enough to have not went near it and that says something.
Growing up through part of the troubles as a kid I never really appreciated just how difficult the police and army’s job was until I got older and wiser. Stuck in the middle of this sectarian hatred while having a constant target on their backs to be shot or blown up is nothing short of insane. For the most part, there will always be a few areas in Northern Ireland that breeds hatred for the other side, it’s how they are brought up. It’s substantially better than before and the vast majority want to actually live their lives and rightfully so
Johnny Adair loved a groupie from Ardoyne 🤣 Why is the narrative always the poor Catholic? They were miles ahead with the propaganda and still are to be honest... Dude nearly got his face wiped off by a half brick at 38.33
They're very astute politically due to being well read and putting emphasis on education (the Irish in general did because they didn't have industry so just invested in educating themselves) The loyalists and unionists either face a disconnect with their young people compared to their counterparts OR the republicans actually use intimidation to ensure good voting turnout of their 'supporters'. Probably a mixture of the two aspects.
if so it means you will have to pay water rates, prescription charges, hospital bills ect, as i know many catholics who do not want a united ireland, its just a political thing to rub it in the unionists noses
Ulster Loyalists Protestants.are gulity of same sectarianism as Irish Republicans Roman Catholics sectarianism is both ways not everyone in Ardoyne threw petrol bombs at Protestant homes but some did.
That's the mentality that keeps this conflict simmering below the surface. It's a tit for tat That's lasted centuries. The same could be said about atrocities on protestant/Presbyterians? The Portadown massacre took place in November 1641 at Portadown, County Armagh, during the Irish Rebellion of 1641. Irish Catholic rebels, killed about 100 British Protestant settlers woman, men and children by forcing them off the bridge into the River Bann, and shooting those who tried to swim to safetyl. This was the biggest massacre of Protestants during the rebellion, and one of the bloodiest during the Irish Confederate Wars. The Portadown massacre, and others like it, terrified Protestants in Ireland and Great Britain, and were used to justify the Cromwellian conquest of Ireland and later to lobby against Catholic rights. A line has to be drawn where the past remains in the past for their ever to be a peaceful future.
Ulster Unionists and Loyalists expect Irish Roman Catholics to accept Northern Ireland after mistreatment they received between 1921-1972 ridiculous suggestion.
I feel bad now for Eileen and other loyalist just switch your flag and join the Irish ☘️ it will Be great one day should have happened years ago god bless
