    Officially holding my hands up here! Matt Turner and Austin Trustee are NOT PR signings and I was very wrong on the level of the MLS. Happy to be proven wrong. COYG

      Absolutely spot on Manu. Turner looks really good but just needs more game time yeah?

      Jersey guy here, RBNY supporter. Alphonso Davies is an MLS product. So is Miguel Almirón. Those are only two examples. Tons of players are using MLS (we don't use the article here) as a springboard to Europe.
      Matt Turner played for New England Revs and, while solid, I wouldn't have picked him as player Arsenal would be interested in. But he has visibly improved as a ball playing keeper. He replaced Zack Steffen, a back up at ManCity, as the #1 for the US, and his World Cup play really showcased his growth. I'm very happy with him.
      Auston Trusty is a different story. A guy I literally never heard of until his connection with the Arsenal came up, he was horrible during Concachampions and his last league matches with Colorado before going to Europe. I started to watch a Birmingham vs Burnley match a few weeks ago (wanted to see what all the Kompany commotion was all about) and was surprised to see Trusty starting for the Blues. Within the first three minutes he was directly responsible for the first Burnley goal. I haven't seen him any other time. I have no clue why the Arsenal signed him because I've never seen him play well. Maybe you can tell me.

      I'm just curious to see if Matt Turner wants a move sometime in the near future. I think he's good enough to start for some EPL teams. Might be another situation where we have 2 quality GK but at the end one of them wants to leave

      @@javierlandaverde4108Given the number of keepers at the Arsenal who went on to make names for themselves away from the club (Szczęsny at Juve and Poland, Fabiański for West Ham and Poland, Emi Martínez for Villa and Argentina) I wouldn't be surprised if Turner was picked up by a Brighton or Brentford or Leeds.

      @@Azabaxe80 I kind of see him as a short term rental. He was brilliant at New England Revolution. Prob took a risk going to Arsenal to get his name out in the European market and get more attention. So far, its gone to plan.

  • @claudiusignatiusalexander5437

    Lokonga's confidence is absolutely shot to pieces. I'm not sure if he's going to make it here tbh. Need's game time. He's definitely not a 6, which doesn't help when he's asked to play there for us.

    • @javierlandaverde4108
      @javierlandaverde4108 Před rokem +1

      I remember last pre-season and Arteta played Sambi in that Martin Odegard role and he did great in the pre-season games. Showed more flair and passes and he even scored in the pre-season. I don't think 6 is his position. As long as he doesn't have the defensive awareness and defensive positioning and comfortable on the dribble I think he's best in a more advance position. I think the kid has talent, I don't think he fits the timeline Arteta wants. I think it is fair to say the patience of developing young talent has come to a close with the Trossard signing. Arteta wants proven and ready players and process has already finished. It's about executing and providing depth to contend.

      @javierlandaverde4108 Před rokem

      I don't think so.... Trossard is great. His defensive contribution as well was decent. Didn't really track back like Martinelli. I give him the benefit of doubt he's a new signing and still adjusting to Arsenal system. It's different from Brighton. I think he's more of a creative wide playmaker when he's put out wide compare to being a better finisher when he's more as a false 9 or in 2 striker system up top. I don't think he has electric pace like a Martinelli or Saka or the flair and strength to beat player 1v1 like Martinelli or Saka.

    Out of the cup but played very well. The best we played at their ground in years. Should have won it, but not sharp enough in the final third.
    Three outstanding performers tonight:
    Matt Turner. What a fantastic stand-in keeper. He could rival Ramsdale if puts in a performance like this. Tommy. Too fantastic right backs, what a luxury to have. He was so strong in his tackles, sharp in passing, and read the game perfectly.
    Leandro Trossard. What dribbling. Reminds me of Sanchez. Super business by Edu!
    This match has shown we can definitely beat City home and away. I Hope Parteys injury isn't serious. Either way, we need a midfielder. Hopefully Edu, Garlick, and the rest can get it done!

    Due to the congested fixture list and a depleated midfield, I take comfort not having to play these extra games. Let City have their fixtures piled on top of each other and we can have more rest between games so we are more fresh for the top two competitions we are prioritising. The effort showed last night gives me a lot of confidence we can get a result in both league games.

    Turner is and has been that good. Arsenal fans saw 3 mistakes over 2 games when he was very nervous as a new player at a huge club. He’s settled in and feels at home and feels the support of Arteta and staff so now he is himself. He hasn’t suddenly become a stellar footballer he was when they signed him or they wouldn’t have made him an Arsenal player.

  • @JohnScarrott
    @JohnScarrott Před rokem

    I said before the match, start with our 1st 11, if we'd done that I think we'd have scored goals in the first half (just look at what happened to our game after the subs yesterday), as City were not very good, nowhere near their best. We could have then gone flying out again in the 2nd half before doing all the rotation from 60 minutes.
    I see the point about giving players chances, but if we want to win matches like this, we know we need to start our 1st 11 with only 1 or 2 changes max, like Turner or Trossard, that's about it really.
    Lokonga loan to Monaco if we get Caicedo, either that or intense 1-1 training to get him up to speed quicker.

    • @javierlandaverde4108
      @javierlandaverde4108 Před rokem +1

      Well... I thought Man City were trying to face balls into Haaland. I think people really underestimated Holding. He did well because City put the focal point of feeding Haaland and taking advantage of Holding. 2nd half, they hold the ball better. They keep possession and kept the ball moving to find spaces and gaps on arsenal defense and that Grealish in particular kept winning fouls on Tomiyasu. Finally, after pinning Arsenal on there half. Were able to get a goal from Ake. 1st half, Arsenal did dangers in moments as well but didn't finish there chances like Trossard. Nhketiah also had a sold chance. I agree in particular Ade dominated Saka in that dual. Ortega was on point on goal on defense for City.

Glad I'm not one Sambi for his mental state needs to Play,and WE as a fanbase need to be mindful and contextualize how we view players when they don't play often and come in to get games and don't perform to the first team don't kill them ask questions of the manager!!!!

    Hi Tom! Great show as always 🔥
    I understand motives of/conspiracies about referees, BUT why are Arsenal defenders always defending with their hands at the back...surely that reduces balance somewhat? It may also affect their reaction time ...if the keeper had made the save, there was no Arsenal player to react BUT there was a ManC player ready to tap in the rebound 🤷‍♂️

      We have seen in previous season when Holding gets minutes and consistent game time. He's a B+ player. He does the job, sometimes offers more with some goals or clearing the ball out with headers. Yes, sometimes he does commit to some fouls or penalties but Gabriel and Saliba are also vulnerable to these. On the other hand Viera and Sambi are young guys and we don't have a metric scale or data at Arsenal that suggest they can get better with game minutes. Given that, young players do need game time.
