My husband and I are Americans, but we want to retire to a Spanish speaking country in the next few years - we seriously considered a couple of places in Central America, but, for a variety of reasons, changed our mind. Currently, Spain is at the top of our list - or it was until I watched this video. I've watched all your previous videos from Argentina, but this one really pushed me over the edge due to the incredible beauty of where you were walking (reminds me of my childhood in other Latin American countries), the cost of living and the openness of Argentinians to foreigners. We have a couple of good Argentinian friends and, from them, we feel the economic crises that they periodically have are manageable. Thanks for this video and I hope the three of you continue to find peace and happiness there.

Me parece super interesante que como ruso puedas compartir tu punto de vista acerca de la vida en Argentina, pero también me parece interesante destacar que estamos en un país muy diverso territorialmente (al igual que Rusia) y que a veces cometemos el error de generalizar la realidad de un sector de Buenos Aires por sobre la de todo el país cuando quizás es diferente.
Para empezar, la historia de Argentina ha estado marcada desde el principio por muchos episodios que nos llevaron hacia donde estamos actualmente y es importante que podamos entenderla desde ese lugar. En 2023 cumplimos 40 años de democracia pero, sin embargo, con las elecciones vimos a políticos que propones ideas sumamente radicales que nos remiten a ESOS años tan oscuros de nuestra historia y que por supuesto hacen a la crisis que nos atraviesa (y que yo creo es más una crisis de conciencia), poniendo en peligro a nuestra democracia. Creo que más allá de cualquier ideología política, es importante que seamos capaces de comprender que gracias a lo que conseguimos con la democracia podemos expresar libremente lo que opinamos.
Me alegra que Argentina y Rusia tengan tan buena relación y siempre se hayan apoyado! Siempre serán bienvenidos acá. Saludos Max! ♥️
the inflation is super bad, but i imagine max is mostly insulated from it due to receiving stable currencies from his teaching business. I would love to visit argentina some day. Hope you come visit us in north america sometime. Also good video as always, I do enjoy these more complex topics, especially about argentina, and seeing the city as you walk

Но ты умеешь смотреть на дела глазами простого человека. Напр. ты очень конкретно объяснил разные курсы доллара. И так у меня возникла чёткая картина, как инфляция вливает на жизнь людей. И ты умеешь также очень даже хорошо анализировать, что такое безопасность там в Аргентине и что такое безопасность в России. Недавно услышал «поговорку «: В России все возможно, но ничто правда. Привет тебе и семье из Финляндии!
I´ll try to explain to people who are not from Argentina how things are and why the country is not imploding (because from the outside it will be hard to understand). Argentina is traditionally a middle class country and that factor allows to have a certain level of resistance to crisis, not being a very unequal country. Inflation is at over 100% for now but salaries get indexed accordingly, so it is not like workers lose 100% of purchase power (foreigners usually ask how people can buy food if everything has doubled in price because they do not know salaries adjust). They still lose some purchasing power but it is not as bad as it might seem. Third, middle class here traditionally send their kids to private schools and have private medical insurance, but if they get temporariliy affected by crisis they can send them to public schools and use public health care (usually the only difference is that in some cases the buildings might be a little more modern but quality is pretty much the same). Argentina does not need to import energy, food and most (not all) industrialized products, that is why a devaluation of the currency does not hit as hard as in other countries. This crisis is a walk in the park for argentinians compared with the two big ones (hiperinflation in 1989) and especially 2001 (where you could not withdraw your money from banks for a long time and the economy was literally destroyed and unemployment was incredibly high. Eventually people recovered their savings). What happens now is very different because unemployment is low and consumption remains surprisinly high for the situation, therefore, if you have almost all members of a household working, even though the salaries might be affected for now, they can still weather the storm. Argentina came out of much worse situations than this one..and will come out again. The challenge is to stop the boom and bust circles and start growing again but a more sustainable pace. All countries face crisis, but this is nothing like 2008 in Greece or Spain, where people were evicted form their homes and apartments by the thousands and had prooblems even eating. Look at them now. However, a big crisis in Europe or in the US is inevitable in a couple of years, because it is just the way economies are.
@juantorres-dj3fn Interesting. Seems in many ways like Russia. I didn't think that the huge sanctions against Russia would do a whole lot of harm because Russia (until late 80s Soviet Union) can feed itself and fuel itself and has a good industrial base. So even with the Ruble falling there doesn't seem to be huge inflation in the country. Argentina seems to be in the same place as far as *actual* inflation.
@@mitchyoung93 Yes. But they are different countries in some aspects: in Russia there are a Lot of millionaires and a smaller middle class. Wealth is much more concentrated. Also..they have a much smaller inflation but salaries hardly ever go up. There is also a misconception about Russia because people associate it with the Soviet Union: You go to a russian supermarket and a very high percentage of stuff is imported. When it comes to electronics, clothing, Cars etc etc. It reminded me of Venezuela in the good years of Chávez (because they had an abundance of petrodollars) and so does or did (still does to a degree) by seling lots of gas and oil. Almost 40% of their whole budget depends on just those two things so it was easy for them to import a Lot..now it is harder because they don't have the same amount of dollars coming in anymore.

Hello Max.. you spoke about a serious subject that is infectng the whole world.. Here in america, we have a huge influx of migrants flooding our borders.. Many of our large urban cities are being ravage by crime, robbery and homeless.. The politics is also extremely divided and our national debt is exploding just like the rest of the world.. I have heard alot about argentina.. i have always been curious about visiting such a nice country.. i don't think living there would be any worse than any other country presently.. Accidentally, I watched this video a few days ago: "Argentina Could Have Been a Superpower. Now, It's Falling Apart". It is fascinating to see how some countries “flow” into certain, shall we say, archetypes and, instead of listening to reason, foolishly cling to their entrenched beliefs, even if these eventually prove harmful. Just like some individual people.
Anyway, it was interesting and important information to learn that you guys are thinking about putting down roots in Latin America (I thought it was just an interim period). Now I understand why! And as for the beauty of the place, check out the trees across the street at 1:45. Where in Europe do you see monsteras casually climbing up the roadside trees? 🌳🌴🌳😉

Sí, pero como decimos acá en Entre Ríos, no tiene goyete. El peso está muy devaluado. Mis ingresos en pesos han aumentado pero la inflación es mayor. Espero el próximo gobierno logre bajar la inflación. A eso sumale funcionarios corruptos como Insaurralde que gastan 12000 dólares por día paseando por Marbella en un yate dándose lujos millonarios que sólo lo puede hacer con la plata ajena del contribuyente. Ese tipo debería estar preso. Y como ese cuántos debe haber!

yo en la pandemia veia tus videos sobre paises de la ex union sovietica y los paises de la ex yugoslavia y europa del este y eran realmente hermosos videos y siempre pensaba "que lindo seria que max viniera a visitar argentina para que muestre lo hermoso de nuestro pais" y al final viniste con tu esposa y tu hijita , que hermoso todo esto...la verdad sos una fuente de inspiracion , se te quiere mucho max por compartir tus conocimientos con nosotros....argentina es un pais hermoso porque en el resto del mundo te dirán "vos sos ruso y nunca serás de aqui" mientras tanto en argentina te van a decir "hace cuanto vivis en argentina?" y si decis que vivis acá hace mas de 1 año te van a decir que ya no sos mas ruso que ahora sos argentino, es mas la gente quiere que digas que sos argentino para que demuestres tu amor e integracion a este pais... además quiero agregar algo, no solo podes ser ciudadano argentino, tambien luego de vivir 2 años en argentina tenes la opcion de nacionalizarte argentino y tendrás la doble nacionalidad argentino-rusa , y mas facil es si tu hija nació aqui.

It’s hard to believe for many Russians but in the EU the situation with freedom of speech and freedom in general is not much different. If you go against the official narrative, many things can happen to you - cancelling your bank account, losing your job if you work in education, government office, etc. You can face discrimination when it comes to checks from tax office and many more. For this reason I just don’t understand Russians who still want to migrate to Europe these days, especially with all the Russophobia nowadays. If I was Russian, I would also choose South America.

And honestly, I wouldn't settle there. Regardless of the salary, just NO. I don't understand where these feelings of safety come from really as there are tons of problems with arab/african migrants, criminality, drugs using widely spread, LGBT propaganda present at schools etc. Maybe it's a different worldview and values, I don't know. I'm a conservative, christian values supporter. People like me are just disgusted of the state of today's Europe or the West in general. I actually know lot of youtube channels where westeners have moved or are trying to move to Russia because they face real problems with government in their countries since they refuse to raise their children as brainwashed liberals believing in 20 genders and similar nonsens.
@@RussianWithMax It's also interesting that your friends can't see russophobia in the west. I don't know where exactly they live but me as non russian can clearly see russophobia present in western countries. I could clearly see it in the UK even 10 years ago. And not even russophobia, but more like racism against all east europeans (In british mind, anybody born eastern than Germany is east european). Sometimes it seems to me that emmigrants ignore the reality or even lie to justify their choice to emmigrate and don't feel bad in front of others and themselves.

Si, hay grandes contrastes en el pais, pero no es nada extraordinario; la desigualdad ha avanzado notoriamente en todo el mundo, y Argentina no es la excepcion.
Argentina nunca fue un pais pobre... En realidad, es un pais empobrecido y mal administrado.
La gran diferencia es que Argentina es un pais que nunca ha ocultado esa situacion, quizas por la simple razon de que estamos habituado a las crisis, pero que, curiosamente, nunca hemos tocado fondo.
Y ademas, estamos muy lejos de todo; muchas cosas que afectan al mundo aqui no se producen.
Tenemos miles de problemas, pero se pueden solucionar; por ejemplo, no sufrimos esos violentos choques culturales que hoy sufre Europa, que lentamente esta siendo islamizada y africanizada, algo que tarde o temprano, les llevara esa tan temida "desigualdad" a las puertas de sus casas.
Ese fenomeno migratorio y cultural aqui no ocurrira nunca, es casi imposible que pase; nuestra geografia nos protege.
Este fue un pais rico y poderoso economicamente que por malas politicas se estanco; pero es recuperable, porque sus riquezas estan intactas.
Somos una nacion en estado latente; solo nos falta que algo o alguien nos despierte para retomar el buen camino.
In Argentina the only thing you can give for granted is that, whatever happends, at least you won't get bored.
If the situation gets a little heavier anyways, I recommend you to pay a visit to some places in Patagonia, like Esquel o Bariloche, or Sierras de Córdoba. The inland is way more safe and quiet than Buenos Aires or cities like Rosario.
Next years are going to be shaky, but interesting. If a song could describe the general feeling right now, it would be Перемен!

may I say something: I really appreciate that you are telling the truth about certain situations in Russia, but as I am a foreign who is learning Russian I will lost the motivation of studying Russian, because many as I are learning Russian with a purpose to visit Russia or study in Russia and after your words , I ask myself why should I go to Russia if it's bad there?

Max in my opinion and only my opinion, Russia is more European than the rest of Europe, Europe has debased its individual cultures for greater Europe ( I.e ruled by an unelected parliament, (Ursula van de Lyn and her funkiest, they are jealous as Russia has kept her cultures and her soul, not perfect that's for sure, but ahead of the others, withva few exceptions, Hungry for one. I am still chugging along and understood quite a bit this time.🌿

Argentina es un país tutelado por EEUU. Nunca va a salir de su subdesarrollo y dependencia. En cambio Rusia es un país idependiente y soberano. Aún con todas las sanciones que tiene Rusia su economía está estable, su nivel de inflación es más bajo que el de la euro zona y el rublo es una moneda fuerte. Я люблю Россию!
