  • 2024 YT Jeffsy Core 4 unboxing, set up, and tips.
    This is my third Jeffsy (2018 and 2022 previously) and it's by far the best one yet!
    Hopefully this is useful, helpful, and/or educational. Let me know if you have any questions or comments.
    First ride review/impressions here: • 2024 YT Jeffsy Core 4 ...
    I am 5'10" and went with the Large frame again. The Core 4 was the way to go for me (RockShox for the win), but all the different build options are excellent depending on your skill level and budget.
    I am not sponsored by anything, just love riding great bikes.

    Great video, thanks. Plenty of details I never knew. I bought a Capra CF pro back in 2017 and it's been great but now I'm ready to upgrade to a 29r. YT is high on my list. Love all those handy tools and useful stuff in the box.

    I am planning to buy jeffsy 5 (or capra uncaged 12, can't resist the components on it, but gonna do more research of it) currently own hardtail. want to try best of the best. really glad a cmpany like YT is there for us for offer much better components at lower price cutting down middle man prices. nice unboxing and setup. its a beautiful bike with beautiful good components. enjoy it.

      Thank you! Both those bikes sound awesome. Agree that the component options for the price just can't be beat. Just get whichever matches your riding style and the trails you'll be riding most of the time. 🤙

    I am so hyped, I am currently saving money, should have all of it around September, but I am unsure if I should go with the core 2 or upgrade to core 3, the only difference in spec is alloy vs carbon frame. This will be my first mountainbike ever, I have never ridding a bike anywhere near a mountain, but the place where I live has around 50 local trails, from greens all the way up to double blacks!

      @Ricks-Rides  Před měsícem +1

      Awesome! Hyped for you. You’re right, the only difference between the two is the frame material. The aluminum weighs about 2 pounds more and doesn’t have the little frame storage spot behind the water bottle, but that’s it. I’m glad they didn’t decrease the component quality between the Core 2 and 3 like they did in the past. I would have no issues with getting the Core 2. Just go with whichever you can afford, is available, and pick the color you like. Can’t go wrong!

      I’m in the same boat. I think the 2 is a better deal considering the minimal weight difference. My plan is get the 2 and use that extra money for stronger lighter wheels.

    Thanks for the vid and congrats on that nice bike!
    I ordered a Jeffsy Core 3 yesterday so your vid helps me know what to expect. All other bikes ive owned have been from a bike shop. I didnt get the tubeless kit, so i hope i also get those tubeless valves when i convert. Since my build is one below, i also hope the tape installed is tubeless ready but i just bought a whole quart of Stans so i didnt want the peatys stuff they offered but i like those upgraded cores from the kit.
    Subbed and looking forward to your vids moving on.

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Awesome! Hope it arrives soon. You will for sure have everything you need for the tubeless conversion, besides the stans sealant. You may have to install the derailleur to the frame on the Core 3, but that shouldn't be too hard. Such a good price on that Core 3!!

    -Once the back wheel is on do you have to adjust the derailleur?
    -would you be able to fit a 2.6" tire in the rear?
    Thank you for the video

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před měsícem +1

      No adjustments needed with AXS derailleur which was pretty awesome. If you get the core 2 or 3 with the Sram GX they shouldn’t need adjusted either since YT does a great job of having it set up perfectly in the box!
      And yes there’s room for 2.6’’ tires in the rear 💪

    Struggling to choose between a Decoy core 1 EMTB or go standard MTB as a core 3. What are your thoughts is EMTB worth it?

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před 13 dny

      Hey man, tough question! I think it depends on your skill level and your local trails. I think an EMTB is definitely worth it if you're already a pretty good rider and your local trails allow them. I recently got an ebike cause there's a bike park close to me and I can crank out 2-3x the amount of laps compared to the regular bike. I've gotten way better at riding. If it's first time bike I think I would recommend starting off with a regular bike for most people (unless they they have some sort of physical limitation). Hope that helps.

      Thanks! It was all set up ready to go in box so I didn't have to do anything which was nice. The setup cog is the 6th 24T cog and setup key is in the B position.

    does the core 2 come with a dropper post, wireless shifting, and a option in the box for tubless tires
    which ones does it have when you buy the bike

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před měsícem +1

      Hi. Yes the core 2 has the dropper and option for tubeless tires. You will just need your own tire sealant. It does not have wireless shifting. Comes with Sram GX drivetrain which is still awesome.

    I'm looking at getting the my 1st Jeffsy, a core 3 but I've heard that the frames run small? I'm 5'8" usually a medium frame on previous bikes but there's an overlap of 5'4 - 5'9" Medium to 5'8" - 6'1" large. Any thoughts on frame sizing much appreciated.

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před měsícem +1

      Hey, great question. That’s always tough when you’re in between sizes like that. I would probably go with the large if I were your height. That way you get the longer dropper post 170mm with the L vs 150mm. with the medium.

    • @brettlowden6752
      @brettlowden6752 Před měsícem +1

      @@Joe-rg7db call YT, they’ll help you. Had the same issue choosing between L and XL…being 6 ft put me at one inch of the upper limit of a large. The rep I got helped me compare geometry (reach and stack) and that made the decision easier. Essentially, if you want the bike to feel nimble and playful go smaller..if you want to feel more stable go larger..but either way compare reach to what you are comfortable on.

    • @gaddobronx6740
      @gaddobronx6740 Před měsícem +1

      I'm 5,7 and got the medium. I felt that the bike seemed a little big. I think medium would be perfect for you.
      For me I don't want the bike to feel too big as it won't be as agile/Nimble on the trails.
      I got the Jeffsy Core 3 in black. I love the bike.

    do you use any kind of frame protection on your bikes?

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před měsícem

      Yes, I buy the AMS (All Mountain Style) frame guard stuff off Amazon and try to cover as much as I can. I’m usually too impatient to use/install Ride Wrap, but I’ve had it on some bikes and it’s pretty nice.

    Do you think it’s worth the extra almost $1000 for the core 4 than the core 3? Im 16 and working to save up for either core 3 or this but I don’t know if the extra money is worth it.

    • @Ricks-Rides
      @Ricks-Rides  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey man, it is probably not worth it for you! I had the 2022 Core 3 and it was awesome. I went with the Core 4 this time because I personally like RockShox a lot more than Fox and I wanted to see what the Sram AXS wireless drivetrain was like. The brakes on the Core 4 are a little bit better too (supposedly), but the Core 3 still has the Sram Code R which should still be plenty powerful. Other than those 3 things (suspension, drivetrain, and brakes) there's no difference so I would save your money!
