    ‘The detailed way Prof Tom breaks down his moves into the absolute essentials is just next level for me. This is absolute gold‘ - Sydney, Australia
    ‘Most of the guys at my Academy, have about 60lbs on me, but since purchasing your ‘Kimura Attack system’ and ’14 days’ everything has changed. I feel much more confident, roll better and the guys on the mat have commented on the same. Thanks, Coach Tom’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘I know you have your names for your courses, but I’ve renamed them the ‘Zero to hero’ courses, I went from getting constantly owned, to now being completely dominant on the mat in no time at all’ - San Diego, California
    ‘I use the course material heaps, and just recently put it into action at a local comp, walked away with double gold. No one was more surprised than me! - Miami, Florida
    ‘As a new white belt, these classes have helped me so much, Prof Tom’s technique, the details, and his attitude. I love how Prof. Tom shows the ‘mistakes people make’ and then shows the correct way of doing things. The only one I have ever seen do this’ - New York, New York
    Great videos, great instruction. I just watch them for hours…Melbourne, Australia
    ‘The instructional saved me big time at a recent comp, my opponent was def more experienced, but that was ok, coz I had Prof Tom’s video in my brain. Nailed it and scored gold’ - Colorado, Denver
    ‘All of it. Everything you show in your awesome videos are now my ‘go to techniques’. Thanks for your vids Prof, Tom’ - Houston, TX
    ‘You really have to watch every second of the video because Prof, Tom drops these little nuggets of gold throughout the course. And they make ALL the difference. The only one doing this. Keep them coming Professor’ - NY, New York
    ‘If I could only be taught from one person, Prof Tom would be it. I can’t wait to train in person one day’ - Dallas, TX
    ‘Went to a recent competition with these videos fresh in my mind. I knew I had an edge and the confidence this gave me was unreal. Got the gold. All submission wins! - LA, California

  • @Ureyeuh
    @Ureyeuh Před 3 lety +2

    This is a very good demonstration for the omoplata if you have never learned it. When I was taught this, my instructor told our partners to posture up, so part of the omoplata involved breaking the posture through a cuff grab & cross-body pull, while the closed guard assisted by pulling the opponents upper body through the posture break. This demonstration takes that step out of it, so it makes it much more beginner friendly. I do think a video showing the breaking of posture for the omoplata would also be beneficial. Thank you for sharing this!!

    I've never seen anybody who's inside my closed guard with his hands like that. They usually will put their elbows inside my thighs, making a little harder doing the omoplata that the coach is teaching in this video.

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  Před 5 lety +3

      If someone puts elbows inside both (beginner style) try the closed guard Roger Gracie style tilt sweep. IN general, you must either open their elbow manually (quite easy with two hands) or wait for the open elbow to attack! Happy rolling (-: Tom Davey

    The Grappling Academy an effective submission but I couldn't help notice that you didn't finish the omoplata. In relation to the finish, what is/are the pressure point(s) (muscle affected) when finishing the omoplata? One last question, on a side note, am I the only who thinks this submission is better suited for taller people?

    yes but what happens if the opponent does not let go of the bottom leg (left leg)? i face a wrestler all the time and he pins the other leg down, preventing the full rotation for the omaplata.

    • @TheGrapplingAcademy
      @TheGrapplingAcademy  Před 7 lety +3

      Good question. There are plenty of cheeky counters when faced with this situation however 9 times out of 10, simply pushing their head away with your free foot does the job as ypou can leg press him away with the full leverage of his head and neck. You can also attack the kimura when faced with this dilemma. Keep hitting the omoplata in training and you will find your wrestler rolling partner will be a perfect crucible for your omoplata prowess! Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom
