Throne and Liberty is a new free to play open world mmorpg officially launching in korea december 7. I have now over 100 hours into the game and here is my full breakdown on the pay to win and everything you need to know!

I dont want them to restrict the game completly like other mmos did in past, rather let them go pay 2 win.
this game will go the way of lost ark - popular for a month or two then it will fall off a cliff when the majority of players make it to endgame.
i'm more or less completely over korean mmos for life - they are who they are, will never change and we have well over a decade of evidence that supports that.
i agree with you on both way ..tbh i will not even bother to try it..waiting to see Blue Protocol and Ashes of Creation to play but Blue Protocol again korean company wich give me headache.
A game will either give you plenty of resources with very little grind, but fill the game with so many time gates that you end up maxing your limits quickly...
Or a game will require heavy grind which give you very little over a decently long amount of time while still having some time gates...
Both game types utilize p2w in similar ways as you spend money to buy time. The grindy MMO has an advantage because the time people are spending on gameplay translates to server activity. The time gated MMO will have people logging off once their limits are hit and becomes a deadzone until the next daily reset.
getting those purple item might help for beginner, but pumping upgrade into those upgrade would require grind and guild. not to mention all the growthstone for skill too. since you have limit for dungeon, you would have to do dynamic event raid boss, guild raid, or spam regular dungeon for solant and drop.
the sad thing is that even inkorean server the bots are already a prominent presence.
Can you get like the best Epic Items from Normal mobs? without the need of Dungeons? or nah?

I play quite a bit of Black Desert Online. I'm basically in an endgame (730GS) purely through the grind with no P2W for about a year of active play. It's also possible in throne and liberty or it's worse?

How you change the look of your character armor?
So what happens if the wepon is not on the market as people will not sell the best in slot that they got FROM GRINDING, can you still pay to win? Or will the no payed player who has the wepon ect beat a paid player?

What nobody talks about in these pay2win videos is, this is the korean version. Once its publish in NA a lot of cash shop items are subject to change or be eliminated. There is noway in hell, they would publish this in the west without altering the cash shop for a western market. Western market is so toxic it'll be review bombed and the game will be shut down in the first week. So yea, thing's will be different for the NA cash shop.

Lost ark is giga pw2 as well and no one gave too much of a shit in the first 2 months and some people to this day dont care. Could just be a cash cow for a little while until it inevitably "dies" like lost ark
The Whale have early on advantage for sure, for a free 2 play player impossble to hold up, but at the end both can only have maxed gear so they will end up at same eye level.
Now lets see the main thing, is the game and grinding fun? If yes i would play for free and purchase some costumes and maybe battlepass if its good and worth it.
Not sure what you define with early and end.
Whales will have a big advantage for about 1 month + when it comes to gear and a smaller advantage after 1 month with traits/enchantments

First month (early) | second month (mid) | third month (end)
Whales special adventage will enjoy the end game from a VIP seat perspective, having the honour to be in the nr.1 guild.
1 and half month later, the free 2 Play Player catched up with the whale. If hes a good Player will be also possible to be in one the top 10 guilds.
The end game is most important thats what counts in mmorpg. And all will catch up at the max gear is the limit. From there on everybody play end game in same eye level.
@@Azzlack18 By your own logic the whale will be grinding out end game for 1.5 months while the f2p is still catching up, in turn creating an even bigger difference between them. And like Spid said in the video, whales have big advantage in end game min-maxing by being able to buy gear with traits.

Every mmorpg is diffrent. Some have end game some not. And this one has end game.
So the aim is basicly to go for leveling the skills and grind the end gear fast as possible to be able join the end game mass pvp content.

Max gear is the maximum gear you can get in the game!!!! Its just a matter of time a free2play will catch up with a whale. Idk what trash game you played in past sounds like you play a game where is unlimited level and unlimited gear. But at Liberty throne there is maximum level cap and a maximum gear cap. As a korean game, it's not a problem as long as they let us have lucents by droping itens in game, it's a dreming for a korean and a ncsoft game.
yes like I mentioned in the video u can sell gear for lucents but the game is still p2w

So basically, after a month, when all the hardcore players have swiped or no lifed their way to endgame they will have the items worth anything to post for sale and will trade with eachother while new or casual players will have to swipe.
That's not how it works
Amazon will definitely increase the drop chance for the items since no one in the west has the time nor the mindset to treat this game like a second job in order to get any gear.

that is what normal ppl have always been asking , just making a server and in this server you can't buy the auction house currency , just lock it , simple as that , but those fukers greedy already knows that this free to play server will have like 100k+ players while other servers will be empty as fuk
For me as f2p player this type of p2w in this game is very good. If this type of p2w can keep alot players in an mmo to have great team battles with eachother and can help the game and communities to develop in aspect of having fun in this world, then my simple answer let it be, let people meet in Throne and Liberty and fight epic battles. This game in pvp doesnt have so much desync/lags/bugs, things that ruin the mmo games for most of us, so ye, its a good game for me as f2p player with this type of p2w there.

If it was like $60 for a PW2 item or items, that will be ok with me since that is the cost of the game, but when they put prices like $100 or more, that is pure greed and a turn off for players. With that much money I can purchase 3 games

Actually amazon eliminates almost everything "pay to win" or change ot altogether,one way or another, even if it's still "pay to win" the west version will be way better than asia.

if you are a solo player, it would be hard to get purple. but if you join the average guild, it would be easy to get purple without money. because this game is guild oriented game. joining guild itself gives you a lot of advantages.
Yes and no, while u have more chances to get epics in a guild it still very hard with grinding

I dont even understand why people ask if its pay2win. There will NEVER be an f2p mmorp which is non pay2win. Even if its starts without it, they will add it over time as soon as people are engaged with it. Mmorpgs are such big games that needs constant support and development. So you either pay for it at reales (and then dlc/addon/monthly) or you get f2p shit.

I think the problem with this game will be bots, old lineage 2 had big bot trains everywhere and ncsoft really dont do much about it and after Lost Ark we also know Amazon don't do a good job against bots too. The game already had auto play not good signal. I could endure P2W but I will not play a bot paradise game. Thx for the videos/info.

100% right rewiew, i think they will increases solanta drop , also about magic powder for enchanting your gear, you can just buy any purple item, disolve it, and got magic powder as much as you want. In reallity P2W player, can have +12 all epic gear, litteraly about 5 day playing(hard solanta grinding). But this is not all, you can also buy some items from lucent marcet, and sold this from solanta by NPC. So in reallity P2W whale, can skip almost all grinding.
I mean they can whale all they want, as long as pvp gets balanced so the whale guilds dont just dominate everything. From what ive seen unfortunately that is not the case so pvp will just become a whale infestations smh
If you can get the same item by just grinding, then it's not pay to win.

Our Alliance on Kazar is actually leading leaderboards and majority of members cannot buy single thing in game shop. So the game is definitely playable as free to play enjoyer unless you plan to play mmo solo.
While it’s working for Kazar it’s not the case for other servers, kazar is special because all English speaking players are playing on it. It is very different on other servers and will be at launch. And the p2w is just increasing over time, players will start feeling it more and more as time progresses
What he says it's true. Kazar is full of people who can't spend money on the cashop so they are all on the same level. But on the west release all those people will start to p2w and difference will be notorious
g2g says otherwise 🤣 and there is a way to buy it, there are those who will charge for you for an extra fee already done and i did it on my character..
you missed alot of stuff men. you cant buy or sell some gears. you cant sell gear from dungeons and stuff like that only from openworld bosses or items that mobs drop in the openworld thats about it. also when you hit lv 50 the game gives you all the gear you need to do the lv 50 dungeons and you get that gear from that.
They're all gonna be P2W to most of us. Play for 60 hours and you are having a GREAT time, just buy the danged BP.

I was excited about this game, but now I'll pass and stick to GW2. GW2 is not completely innocent, but the gap of power is very tiny.
I noticed that the game was quite grindy while I was still levelling up. I reached level 30 and I was already tired from all the grinding of normal quests, waiting for specific quests, or night/day of the game cycle because there are these quests that are linked quite closely with the day/night cycle in-game. Furthermore, I noticed that you can't really start doing dungeons until you hit level 30, which added more to my dislike for the game. Around level 25, I started realizing that this game was more PVP orientated and that was enough for me to know that this wasn't the game for me. For example, out of 5 world events, 3 were conflict, 1 was peace and the last one was Guild Competition. You can imagine how heavily the game leans towards PvP and it is not really the balanced PvE/PvP game I was hoping for or waiting for.
If I have to be honest, I don't think that this game is the next big thing in the MMORPG genre. It is just another grind fest, where whales will get all the fun and those who are average players, will just quit due to whales kicking their asses over and over again. Remember my word, it will come a time when a whale can one-hit KO an average player and the devs will not care. That is the moment when the game will die and the whales can fight themselves all they want.
I miss the old days when MMORPG meant putting time into the game and effort to get that end gear without being a grind fest or whale fest.
The only thing I can see is Amazon fixing this is introducing a fair share between Solent and Lumicent, for example, 100 to 1 Lumicent or something along those lines. Or changing the whole marketplace to Solent and completely getting rid of the Lumicent.
lol....Ncsoft never fail with the p2w aspect because its written all over it. People and their p2w cover all. Pay2progress and pay 2 make life easy.... lol
The game is p2w there is no getting around it, what i'm worried about is when they release future content, new gear tiers etc, how big will the gap between whales vs f2p become then?

P2W can be fine as long as the ingame option to progress is realistic. If it's realistic to be competitive but just a bit slower AND you get to play for free then there should be zero complaints. Many MMOs have pulled this off where yes, it's technically enabling you to progress faster if you swipe, but there's a threshold where ingame you can eventually be set up that you have no need to swipe for currency. Sadly TL doesn't seem to have this p2w balance, but just thought I"d add that "technical p2w" isn't always bad. One example would be Albion. Yes you can buy silver, but if you F2P you can be raking in so much silver that you feel no need to swipe for silver or pay for the subscription. BDO started with a harsh p2w model since you pretty much HAD to enhance for upgrades but later on when silver and grinding changed you could easily just buy crafting gear and make gazillions of silver naturally and be competitive.
The way you explain it, I don't see how the marketplace became pay2win. Yes, you can spend real money to buy what you want from the marketplace, but you are not buying directly from the game. you are buying from players. Thats not how pay2win works, pay2win is when you buy something directly from the game that f2p gamers cannot get without paying. Now if a F2P player luckily get an Item that is super expensive and sell it to the marketplace. he gets a lot of lucent and now he can also buy what he wants, does that make him pay2win player? but how can he became a pay2win when he never spend real money in the first place? while its a system for whales to get whatever they want just by throwing money. its also a system where F2P can get lucent without spending.
When you can buy the best gear its still p2w, even if ur obtaining it from other players.
Player A: Grinds 10 hours to get 1 epic
Player B: Spends 1 minute to buy 1 epic from player A = p2w
@@SpidMMO so you're saying in order for a game is not pay to win is you need to spend a lot of time like other to become strong just like the rest? lol, mmorpg drops is RNG, some people get super expensive drops in a few days or weeks and others take months. thats a reality of MMO. as long as a F2P can also get the BIS gear without spending thats not pay2win.
player A: grinds 1 month to get all BIS gear.
player B: spends 1 minute to buy all BIS gear.
player B = p2w? if thats how pay2win for you is then every single mmorpg is pay2win.
lets make GW2 an example.
player A: grind a few months to have a full set of legendary gear.
player B: spends 1 minute buy gem covert to gold and buy all legendary in the AH.
then player B is also P2W in gw2 right? so gw2 is a pay2win game.
and if you say no, because all endgame item in gw2 is equal. then what is the difference in this game? if all best gear also drops?
Yes gw2 has probably the smallest amount of p2w but it is still p2w. The point of the video isn’t about to say if the game is p2w or not, it’s how p2w is it. I think there is no debate if the game is p2w, everyone agrees that it is.

But here, just directly buy END GAME gear straight up in the market. BDO isnt better themselves since its pay4convenience, and not f2p at all. But here, you straight up buy the best gear straight out of gems/shop currency.
thats all true, during early game you wont feel that much the paytowin items in ingame shop we call it item mall back in the days, but as u go deeper and in higher levels there you will feel how much the items in shop stings your wallet except for the WHALES. speaking of grinding dont forget some gamers from the 90;s who are now with FULL TIME JOBS how can we keep up? thats why we opt in mobile because it has auto BUT STILL A LOT DESPISES THE AUTO but people always forget the older adults gamers who dont have anymore the luxury to play MANUAL FOR 24/7!!! and just to share in MIR4 men the politics is so CRAZY THERE EVEN IF YOUR POWER SCORE IS DECENT LIKE 230K PS? If you're playing a game for auto hunting as a 90's gamer.. time to opt out of gaming. Still prefer manual grinds on PC personally. If you're a solo player, then make friends in MMORPGs.

Well I was gonna try this game as it seemed decent, but if this is their monetisation then forget it, lost complete interest. Tired of this constant p2w ruining all enjoyment and removing achievement within a game

@@spankyjeffro5320 It really doesn't. That's only a single and far end aspect of p2w. if you were correct, then games like Diablo Immortal wouldn't be classed as p2w either, as a f2p could "technically" spend years grinding the equivalent.
