  • Testing my folding jig, for making AMT membranes.
    i use spacing of 1 mm and pleat depth of 9.. a bit to much still comes out rather nice. i should be able to nail this with a lower pleat depth. also would benefit the top end :)

    Very detailed and explicit, a lot of movement with a lot of precision, that's why everything you do can be heard well!

    really good one . looks like the real deal . or close , it might be a good idea to use epoxy glue
    insted of hot glue for longer shelf life . (and pro standart resault )

      yeah downside is mixing and gettign right viscosity and waiting... i dont like waiting :) haha

      @@joppepeelen ya that's the way to go ... for a prototype . but you got somthing that can be more then that , once you get it right you might be able to make money selling some

    A amt production i saw they put solder on each end with a strip when i was in the jig so it keep the shape.

    • @joppepeelen
      @joppepeelen  Před 4 lety

      those amts have there connection point there. an extra strip above where the coil curves. to attach there wires :) but they did use a glue from a seringe before the soldering job :)

    Those metal plates of the jig...are they 1mm thickness too like the pleat spacing or less to make the fold better?

    • @joppepeelen
      @joppepeelen  Před rokem +1

      its plastics, but if i remember correct they where 1mm. i did alter the combs to hold it before glueing , i made them thinner i believe to compensate for it bulging out a little and becoming wider then they should it has been a while since i made them. so cant say for sure. i do mention it i believe in the video what i did. changin the stack of plates is kind of allot of work so im sure i did not alter them haha i could have done, bit like the ADAM amt fold jig i believe

    Some Americans don't pronounce B in comb at all. They just say com with somewhat french accent.

    you use hot glue where they solder when it is in the folding jig.aah the suspense..he he.

    Would having the membrane in tension affect the sound negatively? You could add some more rods on your jig (at both ends), then glue tabs onto the membrane every time you fold it. That way you keep it together and you could tension it too. It would probably make it harder to pull the jig apart and get the membrane off after but it could be worth a try.
    If I’m not making what I mean very clear I’ll draw it up and send it to you Facebook.

      No the folds just look cleaner when on tension but resonance will increase to so :) not gone try :) saves us both some work to hehe

    Do you sell any of your creations?

    • @joppepeelen
      @joppepeelen  Před 4 lety +2

      Maybe , but for now I got nothing complete to sell haha. But in the end I wish to sell complete speakers as a brand. Incorporating my own creations

      joppe peelen You definitely could try selling tweeters. All they need is a finished front panel and some 3d printed case. And prices for good tweeters are quite high. Your ribbon ones that can play from below 2kHz, are quite unique. This way you might get funds for the loudspeakers production.

    Maybe you could use silicone instead of hot glue.

    • @ABC-rh7zc
      @ABC-rh7zc Před 4 lety

      or just super glue?

    • @camelazo
      @camelazo Před 4 lety

      Rigid epoxi (A-B) is the solution!! czcams.com/video/J1-5IvkrNQc/video.html, you need stiffness to avoid the damp of that gooey silicon, that´s obvious.
