THE LION KING Australia | Brisbane Artwork Timelapse

To celebrate the opening of THE LION KING at the Lyric Theatre QPAC, Disney commissioned local Brisbane artist, Matt Stewart to paint three canvas artworks of THE LION KING from a Brisbane perspective.
Matt Stewart is a self-taught contemporary fine artist who describes his style as street with a pop edge. Matt chose to base the artworks on the three principal characters: Rafiki, Simba & Nala.
Matt has taken inspiration from the Brisbane River, a major feature in the artworks and the strong colour bands in the background reflect the current development of contemporary towers being built in Brisbane. To give additional Brisbane flavour, warm colours such as oranges, ochres and yellows have been used and these colours are also representative of the sets and costumes seen in THE LION KING.
