    As a Yankee fan, I'm disheartened to see how many people boo'd him. I'm upset he's not with the Yankees anymore, but I wish him all the best. We are hypocritical as fans if we said he 'sold out' to the Mariners, when a big part of the reason we get many of our players is that we give them the best offer.

  • @tspaffz

    Even though this is very old. Cano is still one of my favorite players to date and I am a yankee fan with a Mariners Jersey of him. But what pisses me off is that he "didnt feel respect from the organization" which I find VERY hard to believe.

      That's why they're booing him, they knew how good he was. Cano was never loved in NY, however. He's got so much natural talent and the game seemed to come so easy to him so when hot hot dogged it up from time to time, and he did, it pissed people off. He's not an easy player to relate to, like say a Brett Gardner. There's no question though that Robinson Cano is one of the greatest Yankee second baseman of all-time. Maybe the best, he's certainly the best I've seen in my nearly 30 years as a fan and eventhough the antics, like not running hard to first, would drive me nuts, he's still one of my top 10 favorite Yankees ever so I was a little annoyed when he turned down a fair offer from the Yanks. To be fair, plenty of guys have come here from other teams for more money so can't hate. And he's been hard to replace, only an idiot Yankee fan would say the last two years with players like Stephen Drew at 2B were acceptable, hell I'd take Cano's 'disappointing' seasons in Seattle, where he still hit .314 and .287, over what his replacements have given. Hopefully they found something good here in Starlin Castro.

    So let’s just make one thing clear, if cano resigned with the Yankees, he would have made an average of $25 million a year versus $24 million he’s making now but it’s not like Seattle made the postseason any of the first 4 years of his contract and if the Yankees did retain him......well......we wouldn’t have traded for the REIGNING DEFENDING UNDISPUTED NL MVP.......GIANCARLO STANTON!!!!! #GoYankees

    I respect the career Cano built in pinstripes and his contributions in the WS run in 2009. He had the right to leave as any FA does. But to go and say “Oh I wasn’t shown respect” when he got offered $175 million and appropriate years for his age, yeah I didn’t respect that bit at all and that aspect of the Cano situation I understood the boos.

  • @Isaiahsk8s
    @Isaiahsk8s Před 10 lety +1

    Yankees fans have no sense of loyalty. Cano was your best player for many years and was a model of consistency for you. Players get traded. Cano wanted to stay but they couldn't agree on a deal so he left. That's baseball. The fans should've been more welcoming to a great player who could've been an alltime great Yankee

    • @Airplane299
      @Airplane299 Před 10 lety

      It wasn't a trade. His contract ran out. He signed with the Mariners for $24M for 10 years, even though the Yankees offered $25M for 7 years. He wanted the extra 3 years when he starts to decline but still makes a lot of money. What can I say? He didn't stay loyal to New York. Everybody disses Yankees fans before actually doing the research. I bet you weren't expecting the offers I said from each team because you didn't do your research. As someone who prefers the Red Sox, the Yankees have every right to boo.

    • @Isaiahsk8s
      @Isaiahsk8s Před 10 lety +1

      Actually I was very aware of the details of the contract, considering it was the biggest topic of discussion on MLB Network for months in the off season. I never said he was traded. I was simply saying that players part ways with their teams. And unless they had a bad attitude or was a lazy, bad player, they don't deserve to be booed simply because they aren't on the team anymore. If you think that Cano should be booed for wanting a longer contract with the only team hes ever known, regardless of the years of production and winning hes contributed to, then I guess that's where we disagree.

      @NYYanks2003040506 Před 7 lety +2

      Nah, I agree with the original post, as a Yankee fan I wasn't surprised by the reaction but thought it was an embarrassing display. How many players have the Yankees stolen from other teams for $ over the years? Cano rarely missed games, played a gold glove second base, hit near or over .300 over year popped 25+ homers, won a World Series. Terrible job by the fans. Yes, he hot dogged it from time to time, most players do. I've seen players who were far lesser Yankees get better reactions and that to me just proves the average Yankee fan isn't nearly as knowledgeable as he or she likes to pretend. You don't jeer players upon their return with a new team if they did far more good for your favorite franchise than bad while they were there and Cano is one of the all-time Yankee second baseman.

    • @slavicharrystyles6914
      @slavicharrystyles6914 Před 7 lety +2

      They have every right to boo him. He turned down a 7 Year, $175 M contract from the team that basically raised him into an All-Star 2nd Baseman, and on top of that, said he didn't feel respect from the organization, even though they gave him everything. When a player does that, every achievement and every memory is tainted.

      Legendary Highlights Are you crazy? He left the Yankees to go to the Mariners for slightly more money that he would have made up for by far and even exceeded had he stayed in New York but idiot Jay-Z could not close the deal inconel like an idiot walks away from the greatest sports franchise in history... You go from the Mariners to the Yankees not the Yankees to the Mariners...
