@@yoshithejapaneseguy5391 You can be anywhere in the world, if you're not sure about a place or the people, it would be wise to keep an eye of your belongings. Always ask people what locations you should watch out for. We love to shop at the Divisoria bazaars in Quiapo Manila Philippines because you can buy a lot of cheap stuff there. But I never bring credit cards just cash and driver's ID. I put some cash in my secret pocket n I put my wallet in front pocket because of possible pick-pocketers. I put some cash in all my pockets just in case.

From Iloilo here! That name is derived from "Irong-irong" which roughly means "resembling a nose" in Hiligaynon language, since the city is built on a river that is shaped like a nose. Interesting to hear that it means "sari-sari" in Nihonggo.

i think the eighth person he's talking about is "tanod" because tanod is roaming in their "barangay" when 12am to 4am and tanod has a stick too they carried it when they're roaming around .. and the reason why they roam is to check if there's a teens still playing outside and it's called "CURFEW HOURS" curfew is a command to avoid kidnapping!!!.

Philippines is a very friendly and open country. For the most part, it is a safe but like all other countries, there are sketchy places that should be avoided. I would do some research or ask your Filipino friends which places are safe or not. Also venturing out alone in the middle of the night is not a good idea. So be careful. When you visit the Philippines, do keep in mind that despite the friendly people, it is still a third world country so some people can get desperate. Please always practice caution. And always be careful.

sari-sari store means "variety store" sari-sari means variety.
sari-sari stores are smaller than convinient store like 7-11. you can see them everywhere except for the areas that are full of buildings ofc. sari-sari stores are mostly located tothe owner's house. there's just small window for ppl to be able to buy.
in sari-sari stores, you can get everything by piece, like candy. and things that are in smaller portion like vinegar, soy sauce, cooking oil something like that.
the thing she said that you can get anyhing and pay later, it's called "utang" that means debt or loan. there would be usually a notebook so the owner can list all the things that got "utang" under the person's name. every owners can decide on the limit of the price that can be utang and how long the utang should be paid. there are few sari-sari stores that doesn't allow utang. i understand that bc we also own a sari-sari store and we got ditched by our neighbour who moved to another city 5 times already.

It's nice to know that some people who made a video about how safe or not the Philippines is doesn't sugarcoat it. I mean, let's face the truth that Philippines is sometimes a bad news. That even travelers from other foreign countries doesn't want to go back here because they were being fooled, scammed, victims of pick pocketers, and even made them the ticket to stepping out of poverty. There were a lot of bad things here but if you really wanna travel here, make sure you've got all the information, the do's and don'ts, the places you wanna go, everything! So your journey in visiting here in the Philippines will be worthwhile! 🤗🥰

As a Filipino, I agree to Yoshi,, it depends on the place, time and situation. I don't know if I am the only filipino like this, but There are places here in the Philippines that I don't feel safe at all, buut If you are careful you can be safe. One time, my classmates live in this place, we visited her and as we walk in their street, she said to us to just ignore if the "tambay" or bystander will "catcall" us bcs if we react in negative they will attack us and if they'll know that we are not from that place its gonna get real dangerous. And that stick to my mind every time I go to places, I ignore people who catcalling me and just walk fast if you're walking. I Do not pay attention to them, and if I feel not safe I will go to a bunch of people and pretend I was with them or just buying in a store, just so some people will be present.

  • @rubenbarrameda8118
    @rubenbarrameda8118 Před 3 lety

security guards in the Philippines are just part of the landscape. It does not mean that if there are security guards, the place is dangerous. Those who chased Fumiya with sticks must have been Barangay Tanods. These are local residents hired by the Barangay (A barangay is the smallest government unit in the Philippines with a small jurisdiction) to keep the peace and order at the said place. They must have mistaken Fumiya for a minor and chased him with their sticks ( a piece of cane stick which serves as the tanods' armament) just to scare him to go back home. 2:00AM is still curfew time for minors. Minors are not allowed on the streets at this time.

Fumiya is correct when he says Philippines is not safe at night. I was born and raised in PH. Each family are advice not to go utside when its late night to avoid risk. It is not safe when its late night. Pick pockets also are rampant in places like Quiapo Manila, Divisoria Manila and other crowded places like trains or in public transport. So you really need to be careful to be safe. That even us Filipinos is kinda victim of such harsh things. But true that most of us are kind people and sari sari store is soooo real. ☺

Be smart when you travel anywhere. Pick pockets and snatchers are also in other countries.

As per the security guard, it is a preventive measure to protect the shoppers from any untoward incidents. Please be aware that terrorist attacks or crimes can happen at any time, that's why all establishments have security guards.

There job is not all about securing the places and the people, they are also a big help to ask for a direction and ask for assistance. Like for you, a foreigner, when you go to mall or some places in the Philippines security guards is a big help to ask for a assistance and directions. :))

Just like in other country, Philippines is definitely not a perfect country. However, Filipinos are friendly and hospitable enough for visitors (foreigners) to feel safe.
    Salamat

You are right Yoshi, it depends where and what time. Kohei never fails to amaze me, so insightful and his heart seem to be in the right place. Credit to the parents for good upbringing.
I was born, grew up, and still lives in Mindanao (we are just 2 hours away from Davao). We learned that to be safe, we have to know where not go. I studied in Iloilo so I agree it is safe and Boracay is just 4 hours drive away :)
