I agree with Frank some type of deterrent will greatly reduce this maybe they get 10% - 20% upfront and the rest should be held up until they pass a drug test if you fail you pay a fine and your opponent should get some of that money or the customers get a part of their money back. if both fighters fail same thing. I think their team in camp should also be tested and stripped of a part of their earnings too to be paid as fines from the promoter to the trainer to the nutritionist trust me then will it be a collective effort Because clearly the way it’s been treated now isn’t working boxers fail multiple times and get a slap on the wrist so clearly the commissions or whoever are all in on it.

Apart from holding up the fighters purse if testing positive, and having the bout listed as a no contest, maybe the guilty fighters record should show a loss and his ranking should reflect that loss and also a penalty position within the rankings .... sometimes rankings cost the top fighters more than money. Also a ranking penalty for missing weight may stop a trend in deliberately manipulating the system .... just a thought.

People need to realise this sort of cheating affects a lot of more than just the boxer at the end of the losing decision. Punters who bet money on the outcome are also cheated out of their winnings and boxing as a whole continues to be brought into disrepute. Ban Garcia for at least 2 years and make him return most of his winnings. That will send the right message out.

Almost every fight card has a missed weight. If you're calling that cheating, maybe you should take in mind a crooked ref and judge that tried their best to give Haney the win. In fact a fair ref would have called the fight in the 7th giving Ryan the ko. You know he was out.
