- SVG got his first taste of running in the wet on an oval at New Hampshire Motor Speedway today. He only ran about 15 laps or so, but still a big deal to get those laps in as the majority of the field has no experience in the wet on ovals. He ended up finishing 19th on the day as it got a bit crazy at the end of the race with cautions. Let me know your thoughts!

Excellent debrief, you tell it as it what and easy to follow and understand for an SVG fan and newcomer following NASCAR, and your passion for the sport shines through, Owen.
+1. Came to comments to say the same, so thanks.
He won't like losing, but he loves a challenge
Spot on about wets, the strategy that comes out is awesome
Good points nicholai.
Some of the best supercar races have been in changing conditions.
Teams throw the dice on what tyre to run.
I only watched the last twenty odd laps and SVG was at 13 for a while, then dropped back.
Love your recaps.
Hello from NZ
It seems to always rain there. You think they would pick a better time of year to race there.
I saw some cool stats comparing SVG to Daniel Hemric Xfinity results from 2023 in obviously similar equipment. SVG definitely running better at the mid way point.
SVG97 he's an absolute gun!!
Wait, if you win you get a giant lobster?!? Fuck I'm flying in from Australia to race. Ok I have zero experience racing but I really want that lobster! 🤣🤣
Did SVG wave to Hill while having his bumper stuck to Hills drivers door haha
I really hope SVG gave him the bird while Hill was sideways 🤣
I don't think SVG cares about hill at all .. SVG most likely be in cup next year and hill won't. Then I won't have to watch crapfinity in 25' 😀
@@Bogues_88 you do realise that Austin Hill is in NASCAR too right? As in the CUP car. He drives pretty much all the series's.
@@Brendan77able haven't seen him in a cup car ... and we talking about a full time cup drive which is not that likely for him.
@@Bogues_88 yeah, sorry, he's not fulltime in the cup car, just select races with RCR. I actually mixed him up with Austin Dillon in my mind.
SVG starts the race on an oval that he has never done a lap on, on tyres that he hasn't done a lap on, and finishes in front of how many other drivers with experience on that track, and on those tyres? Yet you constantly see other commentators saying he will never be anything on an oval. Scotty McLaughlin had never raced open wheeler's, but he can win on ovals. Yes, they are two of the best to recently come out of Supercar's, but if you look back at Marcus Ambrose and Dick Johnson, the people involved with them will tell you that the limiting factor on their results wasn't the drivers ability, it was the car, and in Dick's case, seat time. Don't under estimate SVG
The lack of practice is a massive disadvantage.
only 1 driver had tested these tires previously, so pretty much EVERYONE had no idea of the tires.
i wounder why these super car guys dont do some testing practice at the thunder dome in melbourne, track is still good to drive on, just need to make a car available, we still have club sprints around the thunder dome, great fun to drive on, svg should use thunder dome in off season
@@volksdeutschewaffenss9670the man lives in the states. He doesn’t need to go to Australia to find an oval.
@@Brendan77able they did 10 laps on the wet tyres. Wouldn’t have been many others that have never been there before. How many times has AJ or JA raced there?
On point ,, Keep it coming 🙂
SVG likes the wet, he likes it even better on slicks in 'damp' conditions
I have subscribed because I appreciate the quality of your recaps for us dumb Aussies 😂
The caution that came out when Carson was in lead because he didn't pit pretty much ruined the race. Nothing but stupid cautions after that If you watched the lap times and knew the lap last pitted you could expect SVG would have finished top 12 .. which is very strong from starting 28th .. following lap times U can see the improvement over the race and he is usually faster at the end of a run than some in front. The Joe Gibbs cars were stupidly faster than the rest of the field .
Can you please give us some stats on how many cars SVG has passed in this series.
Define pass. He has not passed very many by racing them, you want to count the cars his team got him out in front of on pit road? Cars that were involved in wrecks at the front of the field? Maybe when half the cars in front of him run out of fuel? It may officially count as a pass in the box score. I saw his pit crew get him quite a few positions on pit road at New Hampshire only to have him give them back within 5 laps of the restart. It’s not his fault he just doesn’t have the skill level he needs on a oval. This is still the minor leagues, just wait till he tries to race most of the guys at the cup level on a oval.
wet tires you got to search for water to cool tires when it stops raining, they will even dip them in the grass to find that water.
it was like the first official oval to start on wets.
Do double file restarts add to the cautions?
Reckless driving adds to cautions ..
That 20 car is the old 54 team that kyle Busch built and Gibbs got to be his fulltime team.
Hi Nikki, where did you buy the cap?😀
Is SVG in the Cup race tomorrow?,I didn't see his name mentioned on someone elses channel yesterday or the day before,I can't remember.
No he is not.
you do realize svg use to race in the rain all the time, they use to race in pour downs in the supercars, wont be much of a challenge
My TV started to show other programming just left the race.
Loudon is a track with history and they dont want a repeat of history racing in Wet. Just not worth it here.
