    Deuterium was discovered way back in 1931 by Harold Urey in his pioneering work in discovering heavy water, but its development as an energy source had been disappointing “nil”.
    Deuterium is an isotope of the element hydrogen; it has a different energy characteristic when compared to oil. It is vastly dispersed in the oceans and is not trapped in hydrocarbon-bearing zones/strata where oil is usually found. Deuterium or heavy hydrogen (D or 2H) is one of the two stable isotopes of hydrogen, the other is called protium. In the seas and oceans, protium has a concentration of 99.98% and the balance of approximately 0.02% is deuterium.
    Technically, deuterium is a possible source of clean energy. However, the practical utilization and harvesting of this exotic energy source have been problematic due to its difficult handling characteristic. To make the explanation short, there is no present technology that can viably process and mine deuterium which abounds at the great depths of the oceans. There are laboratories that produce heavy water (high concentration of deuterium) but their production is not viable on a very large commercial scale.
    Maybe (only a maybe).... when we are able to apply nanotechnology and master the production of graphene then we may be able to use the nanotube-graphene combination as an enclosure material for the quirky deuterium. Another hurdle is the impractical and inefficient way of using deuterium in conventional thermal energy production. Deuterium is only an economically viable fuel for thermo-nuclear energy process. There are already emerging fission/fusion-based technologies, like hot plasma and cold fusion which can make use of deuterium as fuel. Until then, the dream of harnessing deuterium for cheap and clean energy is wishful thinking.
    Until the world’s scientific minds come up with the following technologies;
    1. Develop advanced materials to handle the quirky nature of deuterium and,
    2. Establish a practical process for extracting the nuclear energy from the extra neutron in deuterium, possibly through a nuclear fusion/fission-reaction process.
    Only then can we expect to be able to harness the cheap and clean energy from deuterium.
    The oil industry with all its technology and financial resources has not been able to make deuterium an energy source. The inability on the part of the big corporate businesses of the oil and energy industries is quite disconcerting. This group should have taken the lead in the development of abundant cheap energy! with unimaginable profit to derive and gain from selling this inexhaustible energy source to the world!

    Open the nuclear power plant and let our scholars know how to operate and manipulate nuclear material and we build our own fusion reactor that deuterium as a fuel .

    If the early exploration is start ASAP and search in not deeper part but have enough to make raise of dueteruim even not big volume but economically proven the quality and quantity is abundant for our countries needs make it develop first for ourconsumption..in that way s we can invite other local or even foreign have instant interest when they saw the quality and out put of the finished product once they proved..the the resource is continuing production lay out..and make big depot in nearby shallow vicinity where island can make to reclaim..for building other facilities..as addition port of loading the petroliuem product..

    Is there any feasible studies about thee tectonic movements that could probably affect the areas and trenches where deuterium flows as well as the ways on extractions via manmade installed facilities . Tectonic movements can destroy easily the somewhat like floating structures to be. Stablished down the floor of the trenches . Multi billion of investment which probably be the debt of Philippines to the investing companies could somehow become the looses of both involved parties

      Its a Hydrogen isotope with a neutron.
      It serves a role as Deuterium oxide / or known by its common name as "heavy water", these are used in nuclear reactor because they are a better moderator than regular water because of retaining the same property as regular h2o but twice heavier.
      They can also be artificially synthesized in the lab by electrolysis
