That is so very sad for Mary the Elephant.... what a great deal on the cinnamon rolls, yummy.... cute shops and town, thanks for taking us along with you....
That was not murder it was self defense, poor Mary. That's awful but I remember hearing about that when I was young.
Oh so very nice small town Erwin ❤
I like mural wall with Bigfoot ❤
Such a sad story 😢
I’ve read much and seen photos of this sickening incident.
It is heartbreaking and was so needless💔😢
The building with white columns the near end of the video used to be Hotel Erwin. My parents stayed there on their honeymoon.
I had never heard the story about poor Mary. It is very heartbreaking story about a elephant. Thank you for sharing this story. I love stories about history. A very interesting story.
Beautiful place
My old Hometown! My Uncle Wade Ambrose that worked on the railroad at that time was one of the one's to help hang ole Mary!
I had never heard this sad story. Thank you for sharing it with us. God bless you.
I love the stories that you guys share. I am a Sparks (from Cades Cove .. well my origins, not ME personally 😂) and I never knew this story about the traveling circus. I will have to do research but given the time frame and the location, I'm sure it was my ancestors that had the traveling circus. So cool. Super sad about the elephant though :(
Thats such a sad story. It wasn't Mary's fault. I would have boycotted the circus.
Love seeing and hearing about old small towns ❤ It's sad to hear about 🐘 hanging 😢 Wow the leather shop brought back memories of our leather shop in our small town. 🥰 Love seeing Wiston in his stroller 🐾♥️😃 Thanks for sharing your adventures 🤗♥️🐾
Mary was an elephant for goodness sake ! She was an amimal ! Crazy!!
Hi there. I live in Unicoi Tn and grew up in Erwin. I’m curious if you have ever camped at Rock Creek Park in Erwin? I grew up picnicking, tent camping and now camping in our pop up there and we love it. It isn’t full hook up but it’s so beautiful and peaceful there. We will be going the week of July 4th. God bless!
I came back to read the reviews on the story and watch the video again and I can't seem to find my first review. tragic story all the way around for beast and man.
Reminds me of Topsy the elephant who was electricuted . So sad that the circus, rather than give Mary a quick death, decided to make a spectacle of her. Pretty town though.
Nice town thanks Mike and karen
Hey guys this video hit me hard. So sad I love elephants my favorite animal. So this video touch me deeply. Unfortunately I do realize that sometimes humans do things to animal and then the animal is the one that get put down. But as the yrs go by people have gotten more educated on how to treat animals and what can trigger an animal to react in a defensive way. Thanks for sharing.
Erwin Bowling Alley use to set where you read that sign at the outdoor sitting area! and the old post office right behind it, and the old Icehouse adjacent to that. Remember going into Roller and getting a big cheeseburger and fries & Coke, ah the good old days, at least I still get to visit home from time to time. Building with the big Pillars was originally the Erwin Hotel. then a bank There is a time capsul in the corner of court house where the flag is, I put stuff in it 50 years ago!
That's so sad the owner probably thought they would get plenty of publicity for there show but it backfired and the town got all publicity so, so sad God bless you and Karen and Winston
That’s about the saddest thing I’ve ever heard of. That’s why wild things should be left in nature. Tragic for the man and the animal.
♥️⚘️♥️
You never said how the cinnamon rolls were lol 😂. Enjoyed the history story 😊
There is actually an elephant sanctuary in Middle Tennessee…….
So sad, maybe he shouldn’t have hit her in the head.
