Hate to burst your bubble but they do NOT last as long compared to the mileage on a Japan/ USA made one. Mexico is cheap parts and comparable to China. My brother in law is a mechanic and has a genius IQ, he wouldn’t bluff one iota about that. Mexico needs to stay out of our car manufacturing, USA or Japan made is superior made point blank !
So far you may not have any problems but trust me down the road the longevity of mileage won’t be the same as the other

My Tacoma was built in Mexico. There are some fit and finish issues with the rear bumper gaps but nothing I think is worth complaining about. It fits within tolerances. However, your door issue is a warranty fix. It’s part of the 36/36 bumper to bumper warranty. Just take it to your dealer and get it fixed. It shouldn’t do that especially if it is damaging the paint and finish. That should be fixed and the paint repaired.

The 3.5l engines are still built here in Huntsville, Alabama. The 2.7l and manual trans are made in Japan. '22 and after, Tacomas are assembled in Guanajuato, Mexico.

My 2020 was made in Mexico. With almost 200 miles on the odometer, my front main seal leaked. Dealer fixed it. At about 8,500 miles going above 35 mph the rear diff started making a metal rubbing metal noise. Dealer replaced the "3rd" member....and the noise came back at about 13k miles. Dealer said my bigger tires are making too much noise to pinpoint the noise even though it is easily replicated up on their lift, and my jack stands. I still love the truck, just will never do business again with the Viva Toyota here in Las Cruces New Mexico.

One being the grill gaps are noticeable to the point of seeing the retaining clips, the rear wheel well splash shield..(front portion) is loosely fit..it needs a support arm attached to the frame. Fog lamp bezels are loosely fit...you can move them a bit. And lastly...the shark fin antenna on the roof seems like it is not tightened down enough...found this out while washing the truck. So I'll address the shark fin with a dealer. The other issues are not relevant...just me being picky. 😁

Regardless, Toyota historically is known for quality work and customer satisfaction. If your vehicle is still under warranty, take it back to the dealership. As I was leaving the dealership (today), after a service oil change, I saw a used 2021 Tacoma in the lot which caught my eye. I inquired about a trade-in toward this newer used truck and discovered it was built in Mexico...bummer. I don't think the concern over Mexican-made vehicles and their quality control is completely unfounded. I have heard too many anecdotal stories from people in the industry. This isn't to say that ALL vehicles made there are garbage. I'd bet money though that the Mexican-made vehicles have more QC issues than U.S. and Canada-made and definitely more than Japan-made.

My 2019 was made in Texas, so far I've had a fuel pump recall. 3rd brake light seal recall, squeaky clutch pedal, and my body ECU unit was replaced. Now that Toyota is going the turbo route, I won't be buying anymore Toyota's.

I just got a 22 Tacoma Sr 4x4 this summer. I've had previously a 2016 sr5. I have to say I'm a bit worried about this new 22 made in Mexico. Definitely a few small body panel alignment issues but nothing too bad. My issue is with the feel of the drivetrain. It drove very normal for about a month. Then all of a sudden I started to feel a slight pull and vibration when braking coming up to traffic lights. It's never went away. It's not bad enough to take it in yet but the dealer looked at it and claimed nothing wrong. Not even sure what the issue would be, bad brakes form factory? Also the engine seems to whine or struggle on certain days. Not a smooth purr. I expect these this from a truck you driven for years not months. Imo not worth the money anymore, I'm most definitely got to trade it in after a few years. I had the new Sierra that I actually traded for this brand new Tacoma, that truck as well had some serious drivetrain quirks that was very disappointing, not a truck you could trust long-term. TBH not sure what's the best bet anymore. Maybe f 150 with the coyote 8 , definitely no turbo for me anymore. Very sad to see this truck market suck like this, you pay top dollar and get crap. What a world

I wouldn't trade in my 2019 model for a brand new one. The dealers and Toyota really mislead everyone.

Them issues are so simple to fix. the hood, robber adjuster twist to left a couple of turns. Door, loose the hinges and pull the door back just a couple of millimeters and it should be perfect.

I'm pretty sure my truck was built on a Friday at 5pm. My steering wheel was crooked from day one but they fixed it right away.
