Poor geezer. I was a chef for years and one of the most painful things is putting your hands into fridge water. I.e. a tub of water containing prepared lettuce or potatoes etc that has sat in the fridge for half a day 🥶🥶😵😵
Dear Ben, Emily and Alan, I'm a plastic boat ( Yogurt Pot) owner on the Oxford. First things first! Dropping mobiles in the cut, everyone bounces or watches their mobile slide off into the the cut before buying a fishing catch net on a long pole! far easier than the poor psychologically blackmailed male taking a dip every time? Joking I think? also good for rescuing older cats that fall overboard? Far safer than getting crushed by the boat or catching some water born Rat urine disease.
Thanks that is so funny to watch when it's not my phone. Great formatting and commentary, love the little bits of cooking not sure about some of the music? They don't seem to fit the filming then other bits are kool and fit the moment perfectly. on the whole keep doing it and keep adapting to nature and emptying loo's 9.9 OUT OF 10. ...... Good job! Glad it was fed by a river. I was riding along the canal near Wigan and heard a massive splash. A guy behind me had fallen in. It was a big drop to the water but not too deep. I helped pull him out. He was in good spirits about it. It was a lot warmer then. He had been fishing. Said he had to explain it to his Mrs when he got back!
That man got in that cold ass water and grabbed a phone with his feet! That's just awesome! Every time y'all drop a new video, my day is made. I havent even been in cold water today and I want a scone as well. I have a feeling the ones I get will not be as great as the ones y'all get though.

Wow Benny , I tried to do that . Got into the canal just before the Bridgewater Canal to try and retrieve my phone. Yes deeper than you think and I could not put my face in the water so no phone saved. Getting out the water was a nightmare . You are my hero today. That was a lovely video Emily. I come down. from Scotland with family. regularly to the Llangollen Canal so full of happy memories. . Once saw a Mandarin Duck in the Marina where you're moored . Thanks as always , happy 2023 xxx

Rather you than me!!! Just a suggestion, might be worth buying a cheap one-piece wetsuit from either Mountain Warehouse or Decathlon, and a diving mask / snorkel / fins just to keep in case of emergencies like this. Can also help out other boats who've dropped items overboard / fouled props etc. Could even make a small charge... 😉

Not to sure about the swimming but a lovely part of the world to rest up. There are some great craft shops around there if you can find them, one was called Glass Blobbeal amassing guy that works in glass adding different metals in what looks like an old school. Have fun at your stop and have a great New Year.

I'm surprised Benny could feel anything with his toes in that freezing water, my toes go numb even when I'm sat in front of the wood stove.

Thanks for the videos, this one is special to my wife and I and I am afraid that my comment is very similar to the one I posted on ‘Narrowboat Life Unlocked.’
We have cruised this canal several times along its length.
However during the summer we cycled from Chirk to Barmouth on Bromptons (non electric), on our own without support, we carried our own luggage and spares. From Chirk we used the towpath to the Horseshoe Falls. The route is just as fantastic via boat or Brompton.
As an aside I slipped into the canal around the locks just before Wenbury, I reckon it has some of the cleanest water in the network.

Well if there had been a skim of ice on the water you could have joined the Polar Bear Club. Works better if you have a sauna to get superheated first before going in. I think that canal is my favorite to watch on Narrowboat floats. Thank you for sharing.

Benny is a hero. I've fallen in the canal (so an involuntary dip) and it really is very cold. But I'm not sure I'd go in deliberately, especially in Winter! Well done. That's true love....

Well done Benny on retrieving the phone! The last time I was on any boat for any length of time was when I was a boat commander on the Zambezi in what was then Rhodesia, I am tempted to try narrowboat world, although I live in Spain at present . Before i forget, a big shout out for your music Benny. I do love your adventures and how you overcome adversity on the canal system,. I remember dropping the new brass “step up” we were fitting to the side of our boat in France! My husband went in but couldn’t find it………he couldn’t even touch the bottom 😟🥶 very scary. Hats off to Benny 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

You can play an audio frequency sound and vibration to help clear water from your phone. Might need to google search this but it’s good to do after being in water to help clear it up sooner.
