can you also change the mixer track latency to match with outputs so it’s seems as if you have no latency?
My best advice is to set track 1 to beat, track 2 to main vocals, then do track 3 as raw track which you will record on. after recording your line(s) on track 3 (the raw track), then double click and move the audio to go under track 2. This also works so you dont hear yourself talk live but can hear your earlier lines that you already recorded to stay on pace. If your delay is massive, just zoom in and line up start of you speaking to the bar
yea thats how everybody does it, the problem with it is if you dont figure out how much delay you have and if you need to move it for example 1 step to get it on beat then it gets annoying takes 2 times the time it would normally take and you can easily mess it up if youre sleep deprived
@@stillpostedup doesn't take long at all. if im going exactly in line with the beat, i drag to where my vocal starts to peak to the start of the beat. takes like 5 seconds. if im starting my vocal like half way through beat or on a different instrument or what have you, i put my marker that shows at what time the beat will play and put that where the instrument sound is, and sync up my voice to that. Only the start is delayed, not the whole thing. If you sync the start up but rest of the clip is delayed then that just means youre off beat.
Interesting. Only thing the person would have to have a great sense of rhythm not hearing it without effects , listening to your live raw can really throw you off for some reason lol. I suggest that if you're doing this to turn on your metronome.

@@JT-ry4ct Assuming you are talking about delay of vocals when recording on track (after you record, your vocals might be pushed back or forward due to software not perfectly timing vocals to beat). Your vocals *should* be consistent as the software is consistently recording your vocals, just did not place the start accurately. So to that degree, does not matter how much time you are delayed by as all you have to do is align the first note of your vocal to the beat you want to and rest of that specific audio track should be matched up (unless you are off beat yourself).

life saver, been making music for a couple years. upgraded to a beefy computer and didn't know why I had so much latency. I didn't have the drivers. lmao, thanks man.
also a tip is to check if there is a low latency option for specific plugins. my auto tune one was making it bad until i switched to low latency mode

I learned from another channel that the buffer size is being filled up by the sample rate - so a higher sample rate will fill up the buffer quicker. Or in other words - the delay = buffer size / sample rate. So you should increase the sample rate as much as you can as long as your cpu can handle it.

IF U DONT THINK IT MAKES MUCH DIFFERENCE TO LINE UP DELAYED VOCALS, IT DOES. UR FLOW NEEDS TO HIT ON THE KICKS AND SNARES.

Leveled up my music forreal! You wont regret it honestly, i was skeptical but it's made a huge difference.
don’t buy his presents (or anyones presets) unless you know how to mix already. People don’t tell you that their presets are only a template. While it may work as a “drag and drop” for them, won’t for anyone else since you are talking different voice, different mic, different quality, different surroundings. ANY preset that you did not make or tweak will need to be tweaked for your own settings/voice

if you have absolutely insane delay, like unbearable delay, skip all the advice you might find in the comments let alone in the video, & just the direct ASIO driver, aka ASIOv4ALL or something like that, let’s you go down to 64ms delay, & it’s perfect, + important to note that when this sound driver is being utilized, it takes priority over other sound drivers on your computer, so you won’t be able to hear anything outside of FL, easy tho record, switch back when you’re done🤷🏾♂️

@@cheeseballs9579 so you have to make sure that any audio devices aren’t being utilized outside of FL, if not switch to the FL driver or the Realtek driver if you have it.

When I used a USB and there was Delay, I Recommend recoding just raw vocals and then switching the vocals to the mixed track. cause Raw vocals latency is harder to hear.

This probably a dumb but i wanna ask , so when you record you need a low buffer rate but when you mix do you need to increase the buffer length? because when i mix with low buffer my focusrite lags out

do u have to have your headphones plugged into your audio interface? I can see that my audio is coming through after selecting focusrite usb asio but i can't hear anything with my headphones plugged into my computer.

Go into the mixer and at the bottom right hand corner right above the output there is a yellow clock, click that n uncheck “delay audio output” set it too “none”

My only issue is when I use focuseite as the device option everything gets muted and can’t even hear drum samples. I can use FL studio ASIO and it works but there’s a lot of delay and recording doesn’t sound great. Not sure what the fix is

Holy Fuck, This is why I subscribed to you, I just went from 71ms to 10ms I didn't even know I had specialised drivers for my interface. M-Audio M-Track Duo btw, half the price of the focusrite.

Gunnr, I really appreciate the helpful content you put out. I was wondering if you have covered anything about maintaining delay/latency while livestreaming. I recently watched your video of you letting your chat write the verse to one of your songs, and noticed that you had no delay whatsoever with voice playback on. I've been trying to get back into livestreaming since I got windows, but run into the issue of OBS not picking up my Focusrite USB ASIO. The only option that works is FL studio ASIO, but that has tremendous latency. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

this thing keeps anoying me maybe bc my cpu is not the best. but i start off recording fine. but asoon as i get few lines recored with effects i get a 80ms delay with my sm7b(i start a new empty project at 6 ms) . i always record hearing myself with effects then put it to a new mix and mix it better for the song. if i cant hear myself i end up slacking in the recording. but since i start getting a delay after a bit i can no longer record hearing myself as the delay is way to high. idk how to fix. i might upgrade my cpu so i can have the best quality and no delay. rn i have a Ryzen 5 3600 which you would think would be good enough but nope. put autotune on and inf eq that shit eats up your cpu ig. i wish i can make fl use my gpu bc i have a 3070

Hey gunnr I struggle a LOT with background noise and I’ve tried fruity limiter and the noise goes right through the noise gate when I talk can you make a video on ways to cut down on background audio at some point?
