Sorry this comment is long. Yeah, the video is way better than the movie. Partly because of the unadorned way it's staged: the camera's not swooping all over the place, and the whole thing's in one unedited shot, so we can concentrate on the performers. Their small movements are simple and clever. The 2 sets of 4 shoulder shrugs at 0.43 and 1.35 are inspired silliness, and I like how quickly Left Guy (the passenger) shoots out his arm to hold the steering wheel so Right Guy (the driver) can do his robot shtick on "mental synchronization" - though it's not exactly an ad for safe driving. I have no idea who these terrific guys are but I suspect they're real singers, especially Left Guy (the passenger). Yeah, I know he's lip-syncing (expertly, with possibly one tiny flub when he comes in too early on "Say goodbye to the pain of the past" while Right Guy comes in too late), but he has all these singer's mannerisms. He puts his finger in the air, which goes up and down with the changing pitch on the note he's holding (0:50). When he has to harmonize with the driver (1:43), he plugs his left ear with his fingers, so he can isolate his own note from his partner's. Both guys open their mouths really wide when they sustain the open vowels, like the o in "door"; Right Guy in particular, throwing his head back on the "door" just before "Life can be so much more." I've watched about 20 other versions of this lip sync and almost no one else unhinges their jaws to that extent. And Left Guy knows just how to integrate the movement with the singing to make an emotional point - watch his precise timing in taking off and putting on the sunglasses. There's show-business smarts at work here. I've seen this 30-plus times. I'm an old man, and it's hard to find something new that delights. But I feel deliriously happy every time I see it. I play it before I go to bed, so I can retire with the belief that God's in his heaven and all's right with the world. So thanks, guys. Last, does anyone know anything about these animated dudes? Are they students? Music or theatre majors? Where are they driving? The trees are tallish and there's at least one covered elevated walkway above the highway. It appears to be summer, or at least a warm place like Florida, because they're wearing tank tops and appear slightly sunburned.
It's the finger in the ear at 1:40 that cracked me up, to check he's miming in key.... soooo funny, excellent vid, slightly camp, but hey, there's nothing wrong with that. Looking forward to more instalments.
Okay, the Brits are trying to pull a fast one. Look at the parody at Brozen vlog with Andrew Lee Potts & Tony Denman, which was released 7 weeks after this one. Look familiar? The two sets of the shoulder shuffle, the grabbing the steering wheel bit, the finger in the air that goes up and down to trace a changing pitch around :50? I think this proves the superiority of the US version, imitation being the sincerest form of flattery and all that. But our guys are more disciplined and sing it pretty much "straight," which shows more taste than the self-conscious camping of the UK guys. Hooray for US guys!
This is just thee best thing I have seen in a long time....I have watched it about 30 times in 3 days and have shown everyone I know..... I think secretly all guys do this, well done to these guys for videoing this and posting it online :) Made my year!
Okay... Can I just say something crazy??? You two have just become my favorites on this!! - and you were really driving!! WOW! *^.^ props for that LOLOL Totally adorable. I loved every second and I am sharing it.
LOL I love this video so much! Not only because I love Frozen and this song but also because these guys are really good and they are hotties! BUT above ALL that. The very very best part is at 1:03 when the guy in the white smells his arm pit in a "discreet" manner. Its the just such a lol. tooo good
A quibble about the headnote. The way it's written makes it sound like Kristen Bell and Santino Fontana wrote the song. The song was composed by Robert Lopez, with lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, and SUNG by Bell & Fontana. Let's hear it for the writers! I like the way the word "crazy" frames the whole thing - at the beginning ("Okay, can I just say something crazy?"), in the middle ("I mean it's crazy, we finish each others..."), and at the end ("Can I say something crazy?"). It's clever the way the lyrics are divided between the characters. Neither sings alone for very long. The other one comes in, singing along with, doing a little counterpoint, a little harmonizing, trading the individual words of a line back and forth. I think there's a key change somewhere around "I mean it's crazy, we finish each others..." It's basically a comic love song that's easy to understand but with a lot of musical sophistication in its construction. Who knew Veronica Mars could sing? But she didn't write the song.
Since I have seen this (and I have now watched it several times and shared with many friends), whenever I hear this song (or watch the movie) it is you two I see; singing in the car. Brilliant! I actually think I like your version better than the animation! :-)
Every time I watch this video, I notice another well timed mannerism. I wonder how many practices or sessions it took to produce a near flawless lip-sync and comic touches. Bravo and please post some more.
Coming back 6 years later cause I remembered this video and had to search for it again!
i so agree this popped up as memories from 10 years ago.
guy in the left👌 the voice really suits him hahah

I think so too ha. It's like it's actually him!

Months later....I still adore this.

"Be animated, dude."
Pun intentional or unintentional?
5555 that fun
probably intentional
"Be animated, dude" - I don't know if he meant for that to be a pun or not, but regardless I knew I would love this..
You have to wonder how this idea comes up.
"Hey dude, you know what we should do today? Let's make a Frozen video."
I've watched this far too many times now for one 24 hour period... getting me through my thesis.
I've now cried with laughter *both* times I watched this. Simply legendary! Why does this not have a zillion views already?
I legitimately feel more joy watching this than the actual part in the film haha #reallove
