I like your posts Vibhor. Excellent advice and really concise. However on point #1 "It's not my Job" I have to disagree somewhat. Like many Scrum Masters I am in a company that can't make the transition to Agile thought. So we remain mired in "Iterative Waterfall". When the company has a job description for me to be a Scrum Master but instead I'm now a part time Product Owner as well, full time technical project manager, release manager and a whole host of other things, I have to tell them "It's not my job to do that and here's why..." Sadly many companies still think that Scrum is a project management tool and that we are bound to a plan. They haven't learned that Agility isn't about rigidly following a plan like Waterfall (except that we increase the scope.. like daily), but rather evolving products in an iterative inspect and adapt cycle.

You're right David. That's a harsh reality for many wannabe Agile Companies. As a Scrum Master, the first thing that should be done is to set expectations about what is and what isn't part of a Scrum Master role. Do not make the mistake of relying on the Job Descriptions as HR of most big companies copies them from the web. And if possible look at other places.

Agree ! choosing your word wisely is definitely keeps the morale high and also emphasis on servant leadership model . however I guess this is just only for SM ,even PO's or any one in Manager and Leadership team can embrace it. Thanks Vibhor

Thank you for the video. Is there any dictionary or source where we can find all the best practices / vocabulary / sentences suggested for Scrum Masters? e.g. what wording to use to check status updates.

Hi Vibhor, I have been following you since long to improve my work as scrum master. One question I want to ask is, when a scrum master should move towards playing the role of Agile Coach? I get many request to join project as an Agile coach. However I am not sure if I am ready for the role. Hoping to see something on this from your insight. Thanks.

Anytime you feel comfortable and understand the role. It's quite different than being a Scrum Master.
