thank you to those who have been patient for it, and to those new to the channel, welcome to my very nerdy and excessively information dense reviews

This is such a high quality review of this game. No bias, straight to the point, explaining the mechanics and nuances of the game into a very easily digestible format without missing out on important points.. I think this is by far one of the best reviews of wuwa out there. Thank you for making this! That felt like a 5 min video!
Also, man.. Really cant wait for this game to be released. I recently started playing pgr, and honestly, i'd say it is the best action gacha game out there rn. I kinda regretted not starting sooner. But i'll for sure be starting wuwa on day one!

My number one concern about WuWa is that Tuning Unlock system on Echoes because I can see that causing burnout REAL QUICK.

    • @WadeWontson
      @WadeWontson Před 2 měsíci +54

Apparently kuro wasn't satisfied with making their gacha system only a little better than genshin's, they decided to be "inspired" by the cancerous artifact RNG too. With regards to these two systems, it feels like kuro are taking too much inspiration from the worst parts of genshin and only doing the bare minimum to be better when I'm sure they could've made both the gacha and echoes less painful for players.
Maybe I'm being too critical, but I expected better of kuro. Credit where credit is due though, the combat and gameplay seem pretty good, and echoes (excluding the RNG nonsense) are a pretty unique spin on the artifacts system in most gachas. However, I'm not looking forward to experiencing genshin "nostalgia" when pulling for characters and grinding for echoes if they don't improve things there.

There are plenty of things I've seen that I like (*cough* Jiyan *cough*) but I'm still feeling pretty detached from this game because I've only seen others play it. I need to experience it for myself to judge whether it's something I can see playing in the long-term. That said, this is a great in-depth review! Thanks so much for the hard work, Mr. Xlice.
I'm going to say I fall into the "casual" category, so it's going to be interesting how the combat will appeal to me personally! I like a good challenge every now and then, but hopefully they don't make regular farming (e.g., character leveling materials) that much difficult. I also think the story has a lot of potential, with the concept of sound and soundwaves (the Resonators have soundwave tattoos/marks, it looks like + the Echo system, etc.). Overall, I'm pretty excited! I hope it turns out to be a good game, no matter how long it captures my interest. ;)

14:40 not to be a downer but be wary of these types of features since getting free dupes of characters can mean nothing if the game is balanced around having them, i.e. dupes of characters are a requirement to beat content instead of optional

    • @indomitable2566
      @indomitable2566 Před 3 měsíci +5

Tbf while a game like HSR does not have this feature for characters, you can buy the standard 5* light cones from shop, but there still doesn’t seem to be a need for them. As for Kuro, PGR doesn’t require to get the shards of characters in order to finish content that gives you premium currency rewards for gacha rolling. Having dupes is only beneficial to compete for highest scores on leaderboard in certain modes that are essentially bragging rights only with little to no extra rewards.

    • @fakelawchannel3026
      @fakelawchannel3026 Před 2 měsíci +7

Rexlent has already cleared the hardest CBT2 content with 2 free initial 4* stars.
As long as you are good enough you dont even need 5* stars.
Although i will point that obviously 5* stars are super strong and make clearing a lot easier, but thats a given. Dupes and weapons are not a requirement, skill definitly is the only base requirement.

The artifact equivalent grind sounds kind of miserable considering the range of stats available. It seems like its also a major feel bad that you can't even tell if a piece is even worth leveling until after you have leveled it. If that is going to be the case I think that the EXP you get for foddering a piece should be higher to compensate. Just a suggestion.

29:00 hey cbt2 players here, while those 5 are almost always the good stats, it also depends on the characters, for example Chixia. She is a basic attack characters, so I'd argue basic attack damage bonus is really great for her.
Although that doesn't mean that I am comfortable with the artifact system right now, it is pretty hellish to find the good substat. Man even going for main stat is pretty rough, especially on the "3" cost echo. One type of monster can have 3 different type, as in it can be spectro, fusion or other things. And it's really really hard to get fusion echo that have fusion damage bonus main stat. It's hell.

With all these things, there is one thing that scares me moving forward in Wuthering Waves: powercreep.
I really hope KuroGames can keep the powercreeep under control, because being forced to continuously pull to have a chance to keep up with the game feels miserable.
I say that mostly because of the accessibility of 5 stars weapons. I don’t think KuroGames will go on full throttle with character powercreep, but I definitely see gear powercreep being a thing in Wuthering Waves.
Edit: also, 120FPS and actual character gameplay tutorials are 2 killer features. I know the latter has been done many times before, but it feels like a lost art recently.

14:11 i've seen this in other gacha games and it's honestly weirder that genshin or hsr or other hyv games don't implement this sort of purchase ability for its player base. Granted even on those games, like Arknights, the amount of currency required to purchase their potential (constellation equivalent) is still pretty steep for an f2p, but hey at least the option is there.
That aside, thanks so much for this in-depth review! As someone who's more focused on the combat (I like to have a bit more oomph in my fights like in aether gazer), seeing what you think about the combat system + farming to further enhance combat is helping me decide whether to play the game or nah upon release.

@@CoFF3e_Man Again, I don't see too many similarities to cursed wave, so let's compare:
Cursed wave, you play with up 3 characters and the point is to recruit more and more chars to activate bond. You can upgrade characters once per run via recruiting them again and ONCE only to 3 star if you happen to go for the fourth ending and have insight as a result. This is a segway into how a run works, you have combat stages and you have mini events, the mini events can be interconnected to heavily alter how a run goes, for example the "demon appears" sidequest made up of three event nodes that when all is done correctly gives you free shops.
This isn't even mentioning that you can have 4 different endings depending on your choices.
Also bosses aren't on a timer short timer, like sure there is always the 10-15 hard time limit but other than that you can take as long as you need, sure the boss will get radiation but that can be played around with through matrix, swapping or just using chrome turtle techs.
Your primary way of getting stronger in cursed wave is the bond and path abilities for example, ice path reaches 8 stars for the max buff. The secondary way is through relics that give buffs, some can be received as normal battle rewards or as story rewards like the purple wave crystal relic.
Now, the rogue like here in WW:
you play as 1 character period, you can have a support character but they only act as off field supports with a singular ability.
You can also receive buffs that directly impact how the played character acts....for example rover's resonance skill summoning 3 blades instead of 1 or the ult explodes twice
There are no alternative routes as of yet, no event nodes related to story nor are there different endings.
Bosses are on a relatively short timer compared to cursed wave
      Now elysian realm in Hi3:
you play as 1 character and the other characters are acting only as supports with 1 skill.
You get Elysia buffs that direcly impact how a character plays...for example Herrscher of sentience can perform up to 18 slashes during her ult instead of like 7 or idk, striker fulminata mei summoning 4 blades instead 1 one with her charged attack.....no similarities at all I understand.
And you get normal buffs like ult cd reduction or more dmg.
You have 17 floors and 3 bosses like this ww mode.
And the bosses are on a short timer as well becoming more of a dps check
There are no alternative routes and no event nodes. Only combat nodes.
With all that said, I would say that YES it is in fact way more like the elysian realm than cursed wave.
Cursed wave and later on derived from matrix is WAY more in-depth in terms of how a run can go, idk similar to arknights integrated strategies with different endings and how choices can impact the run.

one thing ive notice about the echoes is the stats you can get out of them are much lower over all, to the point that multiple other stats might be considered better till so many other options are stacked into. one of the thing that make crit build better in other games is because of layered factors.
genshins case we got so many ways to buff dmg% and atk/other scaling so much that the only efficent way to build chars is the least buffable stat that effects the over all dmg, crits. infact crits despite being a higher % stat by 33% to elemental dmg in genshins case requires actually 2 to function, be it crit rate has a cap and does make crit dmg the better stat if others are equal, but to get to that is entire dedicated builds. atm the best we got in genshins crit buffs is 10% rate thats mostly super conditional and 40% crit dmg that is con locked with conditionals, well bennett still provides at least a 50%+ atk boost to most setups.
back to wuthering, the amount of crit that appears to be possible isnt that good as genshin to the same range as genshins because sub stats cant be upgraded, sure crit dmg can roll something like 20.4%, but it can also only roll about halve that on crit rate for CV of 41.4, well rare on genshin its possible to get the unicorn tier of 50+ CV, realistic is 45 after a long a rather long time. WuWa average higher tier if they do crit will probably be 30 per piece, not sure on max weapons, but it looks like a CV of maybe 200 from echoes and weapon. well even using 40CV+crit weapon on genshin already breaks 300.
despite all that, all the other buffs that weve seen so far(which is subject to change) are on a much smaller scale then what we have in genshin(seriously bennett is a hell of a benchmark for a buffer). so basicly anything that can increase any of the rotations even if its a bit char specifical might over all prefer those other stats then just crit. flats are still probably the worst sub though.

2 things that make me disappointed are
    1. the over world, u know like in zelda or genshin element can interact with grass water but its not in wuwa
so it just feels like overworld just there and not affected the combat at all.
it just typical hack and slash combat, that matter only character and mobs not environment
that aspect kinda make me feel like the overworld just "dead"
i guess thats the point they only make the combat between character vs mobs only
    2. is the hard content
i thought the hard content would be in overworld but i guess is not
it so silly "hard open world" like ppl say but it ended up hard content in "domain" just back to pgr or hi3 if it the case
    just my opinion
other than that everything is solid
also this is one of the best review i think
    fair and not overglazing

Your first point does make sense, me personally, I don't care about it as much since it just provide small improvements imo. Second point however, I just can't agree with. Holo bosses takes like 5 minutes to kill, once. And that is assuming it's a perfect run. You need to farm OW bosses, it's the game design. Spending 5 minutes trying kill bosses just for them to drop (most likely) shit echo is a waste of time. Now, does this mean bosses should be meatbags that just stands there and take it like a good boy? No. But making farmable bosses as hard as holo bosses will just waste player's time. Boss fights needs to be fun, not hard. Sometimes being hard makes it fun but by no means is it a requirement.

@@foxxy4779 "But making farmable bosses as hard as holo bosses will just waste player's time"
i agree that this will wasting players time
my point is since holo boss is an OPTION and not farmable why not just put it in open world not in "domain" and give an achievement that will give rewards like holo rewards.
for example i play ff12 (the gameplay like arknights enfield btw) they put the hardest bosses in overworld. with that boss in the overworld makes the open world more alive, I have the option of which areas in the map are dangerous. but the way they implement "domains" makes the open world so dull imo.
even BOTW implements difficult bosses in its overworld not in the domain, although botw difficulty is far below holo bosses.
i just feels like they can do it, when there is no element interaction with the environment, I think placing difficult bosses in the overworld can be a substitute.
      imo

the banner sounds pretty nice, although I wish the shop currencies were more similar to Nikke's mileage shop where 200 limited pulls lets you buy 5 star characters, even ones you don't own, that are currently on banner. they also have the standard mileage for dupes. makes it significantly easier for f2p and whales to get characters and dupes that they want, say if 2 limited characters come out and you were lucky to summon one and then use your mileage for the other.
because wuwa gacha rates are still very low a system like that would be greatly beneficial. the weapon banner change is also good.
i don't mind character pity being much higher than PGR even though you're guaranteed characters, but they did make the weapons a bit better with the increased cost. feels like characters got more expensive and adding a 50/50 that kind of stings.
echo farming concerns me a great deal... as well as daily stamina systems. if wuwa endgame is not tied to stamina systems, is varied and fun enough it won't be too bad though. i do hope that wuwa makes more co-op content than Genshin has, being able to explore with a group of friends and actually get exploration done would be a godsend. doing co-op raids and challenging boss battles together would also be awesome. I'm so tired of doing everything by myself with no incentive for making friends.
for open world exploration i seriously hope they make it enjoyable. mounts to easily traverse massive worlds, easy ways of finding chests, puzzles, and other missing treasure without internet websites or months of grinding for a gadget is essential. open world games must be fairly easy to traverse, fun to explore, and rewarding to players finding every nook and cranny.
copying Genshin's events would really kill the excitement for me though, they absolutely need to be as long as the entire patch and replayable when they are gone. Missing flagship major events because I was too busy for the first 20 days of a Genshin patch has meant that despite being a day 1 player I have missed like 80% of the events in the entire game. I can sit down for 4-6 hours and play but I might not log into a game for 1-2 weeks or more. HSR has helped tremendously with that.
the things I do absolutely adore is the fast and fluid combat system, the gorgeous graphics and environments, the detailed, expressive, and mature character designs. I hope they keep the majority of the world duller and darker because the tiny spots of colorful tranquility makes it all the more stunning. the difference in music diversity is incredible and I want to see them continue peaceful exploration/intense boss music.
character personality/story is something I have to personally hold off until the final release, its very STC and without English voice acting I can't say get too attached right now.

I feel as though the echo system is acgually good. It seems like it makes it easier for players to get a decent base level build while increasing the grind for perfect builds and thats actually a good thing. The point of gacha is about getting the rare item, but if that rare item is pretty common, it loses its value as a truly rare item. What kuro games is doing is making perfect builds actually rare but not punishing the more casual players in the process.

I'm really looking forward to the release of Wuthering Waves, but I am very hesitant on the Echo rng. As someone who left Honkai Star Rail due to burnout where a major chunk of it came from horrendously poor luck on relic rng for just the main stats, there is a good chance with the things they are now, I can see myself leaving WuWa if I can't clear content with time limits because I'm being damage-gated due to poor Echo rng. I really do hope they make improvements to that system, and seeing how Kuro Game made massive overhauls from CBT1 to 2 because of player feedback, I'm still optimistic that they will improve the Echo system.
My 2 cents on how they could improve echos would be having every 5 levels unlock a substat, but the roll's value can range between the current minimum roll and half of the current maximum roll, but you can use tuners X amount of times dependent on how many substats you unlocked to roll an upgrade on a subtat (maybe only ones that haven't been upgraded yet) for the same range of values as unlocking it (current minimum to half the current maximum). It'll be harder to get perfect roll values, but you won't get hit with an equivalent of a lvl 0-4 Genshin artifact worth of substats on a maxed Echo. Either that or introduce a resource that can reroll a substat that's also reasonably obtainable as an F2P. It would also be nice for us to do something with our lvl 0 Echoes, because I can see inventories getting very cluttered fast if the game's lifespan does pass the test of time since it would really feel bad to just waste Echo exp to chain feed bad Echoes to get rid of them.
