Perfect - looked this up while I was on the phone with ADT and they we struggling (nice, but struggling). This was just what I needed.
Lol, I hated adt and switched years ago bc I kept getting this dang error.
Our system got error 103 finally after some years of installation of this same device. This method cleared it (did test, then unplugged for 20 sec.) thank you for posting this.

Yeah, screw ADT. I cancelled after this bs incident that never went away for me and went to SimpliSafe. Way better.
while this removes the error on the screen, it doesn't fix the long range problem. your system will set and it will ring loud if you have a break in, but it won't call the alarm company. you still have to contact them and have a tech come out.
I eventually had ADT come out and tell me there was nothing they could do, after 5 yrs of service. CANCEL YOUR ADT AND GET SIMPLISAFE. It's amazing and has wifi back up.

Crazy. Ours just started going off at 3:30 in the morning here on the east coast. What’s worse is that we don’t even use it and don’t have the passcode. The system was in the house when we bought it 4 months ago. My wife is on with ADT now.
You could just unplug it from the wall socket.

That actually happened to us and ended up cancelling our service with ADT. They said the system "all of a sudden couldn't communicate with the tower", bs. SimpliSafe has given us 0 issues whatsoever and the customer service is a million times better.

I've gotta try this. I hope it rectfies the issue for good. That stupid chirping alarm at random times (usually while we're sleeping) is annoying AF! I wanna take a f'n bat to the thing. I see you switched to simplysafe, but I just renewed with ADT now this issue. Smh. I may have to bite the bullet, and pay to cancel if this nonsense continues...
I feel that ADT has the world's worst customer service and some of their equipment is very out of date. The one thing that sold me on SimpliSafe was the fact that if connection to the tower is lost, the base station will use wifi as a connection, where the old ADT service I had would not. I absolutely love SimpliSafe and have had ZERO issues whatsoever since we switched. I hope you get yours fixed, else, def switch.
@@JRMSweeps I tried your method, and it worked...for now. I appreciate your response, and will definitely keep simplisafe in mind for a possible replacement option. I wish I'd gone with a system with a wifi backup as you did as well. Welp, you live and you learn. Great video...straight to the point, and it worked.

For everyone else, here are the steps.:
Note, you are doing these steps on your own risk of potentially damaging the panel! If you are not sure call ADT
1. Enter your pin and press 5 to enter in test mode, if 103 error does not clear go next
2.While still in the test mode gently open panel by pressing the two top tabs with a screwdriver than briefly disconnect bottom cable than connect it back.
Note, screen would still show alternating Test and error 103
3. Enter your pin than press ‘off’ button, then Test would stop and error 103 clear away.
Welcome, hope it works full time. I know after doing this a few times, ADT diagnosed ours with a bad antenna, and finally after 2 weeks of having to schedule service, the service tech couldn't get service on his laptop all of a sudden via the tower either. We decided that day to cancel and go with Simplisafe and haven't had any issues at all. If your issue comes back, I would suggest the same.

This happened to me down the road on one of ours. Tech came out and said it needed a new antenna inside, but even the tech couldn't get cell service connection. I canceled my service and went with SimpliSafe. No issues since changing.
I did this, and it worked for me. I was so excited I entered my password to activate my alarm with my 12 gauge. Now the system is offline again. Any advice is appreciated.

Thankfully, I was able to pack 9 pounds of tangerine to my adt unit and hit it with a welding arc. System is up and running again.

@@JRMSweeps you gotta be an adt certified installer for 31 years before you know that technique.
i couldnt see the exact cell radio it was(they all look the same) but if its a 3gvlp....4gvlp or a cd6000( which it says on that long white label) it needs to be replaced.the cell carrier is dropping service to those radios.adt service will upgrade for free
ADT upgraded mine and while the guy was here lost lte service on his laptop 🤣🤣🤣 had to use my wifi. That is when i decided to drop adt and go with simplisafe. Adt has 12 thumbs down for customer service and i will never do business with that pos company again. Simplisafe has wifi as a redundancy system if cell ever drops, adt doesnt.
I tried just now and the error 103 went away but the screen says CHIME. I can't remember if it showed up on there before. Is it supposed to show CHIME on the screen?
Im not sure. You may have to disable that feature separately now. I ditched ADT right after this vid, sorry.
I just noticed where you mentioned you now use SimpliSafe. How much do they charge you each month, and does it include video cameras and installation? I'm wanting to also ditch ADT 😩@@JRMSweeps

Do what I did. Cancel that service and go with SimpliSafe. When mine did that and ADT came out, the tech said he couldn't fix it. I haven't had 1 single issue with Simplisafe.

So this doesn’t actually fix anything. I have this same error message and this stops the alert temporarily but it starts making a really loud long chirp over and over. I unplugged the speaker for right now so I don’t even have an alarm until ADT comes
Chances are your antenna is bad and/or the key pad can't communicate with the nearest tower. That eventually happened to us and when ADT showed, they couldn't even get LTE service on their laptop, hahaha, what a joke. Out of nowhere the system quit working.
I immediately cancelled service and went with SimpliSafe, which uses wifi as a backup when needed, and no issues...love the service and WILL NEVER RECOMMEND OR GO BACK TO ADT. Make the change and you won't be disappointed either.

I had to call adt out shortly for a replacement part for this issue. They still couldn't fix it. I went with a SIMPLYSAFE system and love it. It has wifi backup as well. I will never do business again with adt.

Could be issue communicating with the closest cell phone tower, bad antenna in your unit, or a bad unit itself. I dumped ADT amd went to Simplisafe and we haven't had 1 issue at all.

Isn’t this fixing the symptom, not the underlying issue? I have reset mine twice. Works each time only to return later. We have Ackerman security - guess it’s time for a tech visit.
If it doesnt fix it, as in your case, it is prob an antenna/comms issue. That happened to us in the end and decided to go with Simplisafe. Havent had any issues since the switch. Our adt tech couldnt guarantee the fix he was going to do would work, not to mention he had to use our wifi since his laptop couldnt even connect via LTE on the tower our system was also not able to connect to as well.

I gave it a try and it did remove the fault code for about 10 minutes! Let me try something else... anyone seen my hammer?!
Sounds like they might have to replace some internals, provided you didnt lose a stable connection to the cell tower the unit uses. I went with simplisafe bc of the wifi backup the base station can utilize. ADT was the worst I have ever used equipment and customer service wise. Not 1 issue since switching service.
