    Picked up an snr049j1 shortly after it was released, easily my favorite watch. Love the case design and how it wears on my 6.5 in wrist. I was considering this model too, but the want for a gmt was much stronger, and that black and blue gradient looks amazing. This watch would have definitely checked off the green watch box if I went with this

    I checked to see if the GS divers with spring drives have the new higher accuracy specs, but it looks like even they (GS) are the same as this (LX). ...my first thought is that Seiko does extensive testing and so wants to be very careful about putting new upgrades into dive watches, better to be more reliable if less accurate...maybe? I am keeping an eye out for a future Seiko spring drive diver with accuracy as high as the GS quartz: +/-4 seconds/year? That would be worth paying for...

    A really great and professionally delivered review. Seiko LX butting up against GS is a problem in my view, as there is not an obvious delineation. The way cars have evolved in recent years from 1 Series or A class through to the upper end 8 Series or S class cannot be applied to watches. There are so many traditional and new competitors out there that it is not a great surprise that the LX line is selling slowly.

    It might be subjective, but the length of the crown is a bit much, especially with no crown guards. Though at 6 grand, I wouldn't be taking this one diving. Unexpected things do happen, and it would be a shame if it got broken or lost.

  • @jameshoward9700
    @jameshoward9700 Před 2 lety

    These were super nice. The LXs were fantastic quality and this one was a real star. The reason I didn't buy was the length of the crown (I think something to do with 300m proofing the basic Spring Drive) and the Prospex 'X' which for me just cheapens the diver look too much at this price. That said, I went with the Skyline GMT. Don't let the size put you off - I like 36-42mm watches, but these wear really well. Chunky, but comfy!

    What is the story with reducing lume on seiko watches? Can you research this? I am utterly baffled (e.g. Sumo2nd gen with great lume -> 3rd gen with tiny quick fade garbage pips) as to why anyone would deliberately make lume worse... I don't understand. I am honestly very confused by this. Is the only way to get an actual lumed "seiko" to buy an addiesdivewatches or a steeldive replica?? Have you seen lumewars on JustOneMoreWatch?

    • @EscapementWatch
      @EscapementWatch Před 2 lety +2

      No I haven't seen lume wars video. The reason is probably cost and streamlined dial production. They think their lume is good enough even when it is thinly applied as it is now on most Seiko's except the high end.

      Not really my brother has 7.5 inch and I own two models not as thick but close and my wrist is only around 7 inch give it take. Seiko designs lugs to lug somehow to fit a lot of wrists only thing is the thickness but somehow my Tudor’s which I sold on paper are 41mm but bigger than 44.5mm LX do don’t be scared of those dimensions they wear smaller than actual size.

  • @PpaStrmpf
    @PpaStrmpf Před 2 lety +1

    I second the thought from Simon Wright. This watch is perfect in all levels but the size. This tick chunky boy should go to gym. The Seiko should make parallel the tool and desk dive versions. The 15 something mm thickness is to much. 40-41 mm should do the trick and down size it to max 12.5mm even if the watch looses 100m WR should be perfect trade off. Come one who's gonna treat that beauty as a tool watch.
