It’s admittedly a bit disappointing that Rellana doesn’t have any more going on with her because I was so surprised to see Carian sorcerers in the shadowlands only to find it’s because she left to simp for messmer for no apparent reason. One thing I’m learning as well is this dlc also drastically shortens my understanding of the timeline for Marikas reign from at least two thousand to just a few centuries.

Hey it's your game and you bought it, and I was memeing when I said shameful, but really, summons take away all the challenge. Like seriously, no matter how strong a boss is, they're not gonna do anything, when two people or more, take turns aggroing the boss while the others smack the boss from behind *pause, no diddy.*

@@apolloisnotashirt I personally think it's basic mechanics are flawed. before with demon souls, dark souls 1 and 2 it was rather slow, bloodborne was faster and meant to be played agressivly which is encouraged by it's mechanics. later on Sekiro is about deflecting and for all intents and puposes it's not really a soulsgame. Elden Ring is just a refined version of dark souls 3. you can jump over and duck under certain attacks and the direction of your roll matters. in ds3 you don't have to worry about that because if you just press dodge at the right time and press r1 that's all you'll need. Elden Ring encourages the full use of a weapons moveset (especially when you don't use OP ashes of war) which ds3 just doesn't do. what it does have going for it though is the overall quality of bosses. some are masterpieces, other are kinda ok I guess but none of them are awful. the boss most consider the worst is the gravewarden dualist and that's basically the red wolf of radagon with an NPC. annoying but not Bed of Chaos level annoying or Gideon level annoying. it's also interesting thematically and story wise but that goes without saying. overall ds3 is solid and it walked so that elden ring could run.
I like how Rellana doesn’t boast about how she’s never known defeat like Malenia or talks down on the player like morgot, she just kicks your ass and let her skills do the talking.

She killed me over 20 times... Second hardest ( soo far ) only behind malenia, and well the gap is small, and she is, for most, the second rememberace of the DLC ! Imagine how some of the other bosses Will Kick my ass And messmer Will get every single of is 18 inches on my playthrough
I've read some reviews where the critic said that the OSTs are not as memorable as in the base game,and i was a but nervous about it knowing that Yura Kitamura left...but holy shit i dunno what that guy smoked, these OSTs are insanely good.
Btw Yura didn’t leave in the way you might think. She did leave Fromsoft but it was to become an independent artist. She will likely still do work with fromsoft in the future.

3:51 usually when you get to this part you’re pretty close to beating her and it turns the pressure up soo much. Like it just shows how the music itself contributes to actual boss fight. She even seems to get more aggressive during this part of the song. Honestly the most beautifully put together boss fight I’ve ever played. Ever.

The feeling of beating her was the same one I had when I first beat Artorias. Well played Fromsoftware making me spend 3 hours relishing in this battle.
people are sad that she doesnt have a cutscene, honestly, I like it this way, she gives the vibe of the carian knight BOSS, like they are just standing there, guarding something they view as more precious than themselves, the carian knight before rennala, Loretta before the three sisters towers, Loretta before the Haligtree township, the carian knight before rellana, and rellana before messmer, and they fucking own you when you fight them
Carian knights were very proud and had every right to be. The held it down during the shattering war with an army of less than 20 of them; and they’re clearly some of the strongest knight type enemies in the game. They don’t trash talk just honorable knights.
Honestly, if she'd just stood there, took off her helmet to show her face, and then talked about how much of a piece of trash my TW is and how great Messmer is and blah blah blah... I don't know if it would have made a difference. You know who she is, you know what her motives are... Edit: And yeah she's the DLC's Loretta
3:42 this part of the song synced with her doing her 5 projectile combo on my successful attempt. I noticed that the game knows when to sync the music to the boss' movements sometimes. Epic af.

I was helping some buddies out with her. There was one moment where I watched her kill both of them, turn my direction and go phase 2 for me. And I'm not gonna lie, that turned her from "Really cool boss" to "Scariest fucking thing I've ever seen." I was only saved from being returned to my world before she could reach me.
It's unfortunate it's not the same as the one in the trailer but it still sounds good. I actually kinda like how simplistic this version sounds, it somehow makes it seem more magical.

I spent 2 hours of fighting and it was like I‘m fighting for real. My heart rate when her life points had 10% left, the struggle and the feeling of redemption after beating her. This was a certified dark souls experience. Pure nostalgia.

I love how this theme reflects Rennala's theme aswell, there's clearly some sort of "twin" vibes coming from the fact that her name is Rellana as opposed to Rennala, and her twin moon attack. She has no need of an intro, the difficulty of this boss speaks for itself.

I don't care what people say nor how "unfair" Rellana is/was her boss theme is probably one of the best boss tracks in the DLC (and I would argue of Elden Ring in general) tied with The Promised Consort it's just so god damn f***ing good. They REALLY went all out with her boss theme just her boss theme alone has motifs of other bosses in Fromsoft's past games as well as from the base game. Right off the bat to show her relation to Rennala her first phase plays a little motif of Rennala's theme then once it reaches her second phase it incorporates a tiny motif of Placidusax and Lanseeax's themes or at to me anyway f***ing awesome and gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to this absolute eargasm holy shit. Not to mention also in phase 2 it sounds like they borrowed a tinybit of Slave Knight Gael's theme in there as well I could be wrong.

Consort Radahn is fair, but he has that 1-2-X slash attack that is avoidable, but requires perfect frame roll & extremely fast response to the point it makes it feel unfair, but in reality it is an attack that I will call unrealistic to expect from players.
I really REALLY love the violin play in this. This has becone one of my favorote bosses to fight just to listen to this but that drop in phase two is EPIC!!
I love this fight. It's genuinely fantastic. All the magic she uses. I swear half of the fight though is fighting the servers trying to summon another player
How I miss the violins that were cut from the final version of this ost. For anyone interested, the violins I'm referring to are the ones that appear between 1:01 - 1:07 of the DLC gameplay reveal trailer released in February.
The finesse of this lady is absurd, her moveset is so majestic, her lack of voice lines shows how her only desire is to destroy who ever walks through that fog gate.... in the most elegant way possible. on one of the best soundtracks. Well Done FromSofware, you hit the jackpot. Thank you
The ONLY criticism I have is that her twin moon nuke becomes a death sentence when she cast her glintblades right beforehand... happened to me once and there was nothing I could do... Other than that I loved every second of it.
Hearing the violin from the trailer way softer in this theme made me think. I read the description from the rememberance and seems like Rellana chose to side with Messmer, which makes me think if the actual violin theme isnt messmer one, or someone very related to him, this would be very good storytelling through song, and I love it
So far, the boss OSTs haven’t conjured as strong of emotions as the base game bosses’ but given a few more dances with the bosses and I know it’ll grow on me
Oh my God, I love the end of this piece of music. The violin (?) and the female vocals merge into a single heart-rending scream, showing that Rellana is giving her all to this fight. And damn it, I'd be a liar if I said it wasn't enough.
I might be wrong, but the song has that Yuka Kitamura signature to it. The violin / cello duet remind me a lot of Lady Maria’s OST in Bloodborne. It gives the same feeling of dancing back and forth with the boss. I quite like it
Since you marry Ranni in her ending, that makes Rellana your Aunt-in-Law. Yeah the name "Rellana" wasn't just for funsies. The lore directly states her and Rennala are sisters.
glad that I got all of my life-luck into this fight, 12 trys, a truckload of luck, composure, not beeing greedy, fight for like 20 minutes and finished her with my last essence of life - what a fight!
I was about to beat rellana first try with mimic, but after seeing her moveset abd hearing this ost. I wanted to solo her abd despite taking 5.5 hrs. I never got tired of this soundtrack
I finally did it! She's finally gone! Man the first 2 bosses (dancing lion and Rellana) have set the standards. I hope rest of the bosses will be as good if not better. Knowing fromsoft the next bosses will knock it out of the park!
Wow, the little glockenspiel bit in the second half is great, along with everything else of course... Didn't get much chance to notice it while getting my ass handed to me. This theme reminds me a bit of maria and a bit of gael. I.e. awesome.

One of my favorite things about watching a Fromsoft trailer for a new game or dlc is wondering and finding out which boss the ost belongs to. I could be wrong, but the ost of the first trailer is very close to this ost. Fromsoft has done this with prior trailers and bosses.
I love this track and the boss is the definition of style. I died so many times to her and when I finally defeated her it was a trade. Both of us falling to each other's blade. Such elegance and such a beautiful boss fight.
I really wish Rellana had some dialogue and side story attached. Gotta be one of my favorite bosses. Kinda wish she had more plot relevance and an intro cutscene, kind of the Godrick of the DLC.

Fun bit of trivia: this song is 4:12 minutes long, which is coincidentally how long it takes for Rellana to finish a single attack string.

people are sad that she doesnt have a cutscene, honestly, I like it this way, she gives the vibe of the carian knight BOSS, like they are just standing there, guarding something they view as more precious than themselves, the carian knight before rennala, Loretta before the three sisters towers, Loretta before the Haligtree township, the carian knight before rellana, and rellana before messmer, and they fucking own you when you fight them
It also reminds me of the old school bosses, the fume knight didn't need a cutscene to push your shit in, felt like an old school type boss
Carian knights were very proud and had every right to be. The held it down during the shattering war with an army of less than 20 of them; and they’re clearly some of the strongest knight type enemies in the game. They don’t trash talk just honorable knights.
Honestly, if she'd just stood there, took off her helmet to show her face, and then talked about how much of a piece of trash my TW is and how great Messmer is and blah blah blah...
I don't know if it would have made a difference.

3:42 this part of the song synced with her doing her 5 projectile combo on my successful attempt. I noticed that the game knows when to sync the music to the boss' movements sometimes. Epic af.
@the-damnation99 The same thing happened to me first time I got Ludwig down in BB. The epic waltz of phase 2 kicked in just in time to sync with the multi-projecticle attack and it was just 👌

Her fight really felt like a dance between you and her and the theme really reflects it. It's a waltz!
I was helping some buddies out with her. There was one moment where I watched her kill both of them, turn my direction and go phase 2 for me. And I'm not gonna lie, that turned her from "Really cool boss" to "Scariest fucking thing I've ever seen."
I was only saved from being returned to my world before she could reach me.
This fight was such a dance , literally every dodge I did felt like a choreographed scene
It's unfortunate it's not the same as the one in the trailer but it still sounds good. I actually kinda like how simplistic this version sounds, it somehow makes it seem more magical.

I spent 2 hours of fighting and it was like I‘m fighting for real. My heart rate when her life points had 10% left, the struggle and the feeling of redemption after beating her. This was a certified dark souls experience. Pure nostalgia.
This fight was a brief moment where this game became dark souls 3 and i loved every second of it

I love how this theme reflects Rennala's theme aswell, there's clearly some sort of "twin" vibes coming from the fact that her name is Rellana as opposed to Rennala, and her twin moon attack.
She has no need of an intro, the difficulty of this boss speaks for itself.

I don't care what people say nor how "unfair" Rellana is/was her boss theme is probably one of the best boss tracks in the DLC (and I would argue of Elden Ring in general) tied with The Promised Consort it's just so god damn f***ing good.
They REALLY went all out with her boss theme just her boss theme alone has motifs of other bosses in Fromsoft's past games as well as from the base game.
Right off the bat to show her relation to Rennala her first phase plays a little motif of Rennala's theme then once it reaches her second phase it incorporates a tiny motif of Placidusax and Lanseeax's themes or at to me anyway f***ing awesome and gives me goosebumps everytime I listen to this absolute eargasm holy shit.
Not to mention also in phase 2 it sounds like they borrowed a tinybit of Slave Knight Gael's theme in there as well I could be wrong.
Yeah don't worry, she is 100% fair mechanically.

@@carloscorzo8935 OMG sorry if my comment came across as sarcasm, I was serious with my comment, Rellana is perfect when it comes to her moveset, she is 100% fair. Consort Radahn is fair, but he has that 1-2-X slash attack that is avoidable, but requires perfect frame roll & extremely fast response to the point it makes it feel unfair, but in reality it is an attack that I will call unrealistic to expect from players.
I really REALLY love the violin play in this. This has becone one of my favorote bosses to fight just to listen to this but that drop in phase two is EPIC!!
This is what the music should've always been, from the start. The emotion they put into the DLC music makes me proud.
I love this fight. It's genuinely fantastic. All the magic she uses. I swear half of the fight though is fighting the servers trying to summon another player
How I miss the violins that were cut from the final version of this ost. For anyone interested, the violins I'm referring to are the ones that appear between 1:01 - 1:07 of the DLC gameplay reveal trailer released in February.

The finesse of this lady is absurd, her moveset is so majestic, her lack of voice lines shows how her only desire is to destroy who ever walks through that fog gate.... in the most elegant way possible. on one of the best soundtracks. Well Done FromSofware, you hit the jackpot. Thank you

The ONLY criticism I have is that her twin moon nuke becomes a death sentence when she cast her glintblades right beforehand... happened to me once and there was nothing I could do...
Other than that I loved every second of it.
I was about to kill her on my first try at ng7 and then she dropped twin moon at 10% and I got destroyed lol

I love this, it's a literal waltz, so sinister and sporadic. The stakes felt high with this fight, and this theme conveys that masterfully.
Best OST for this Elden Ring DLC. Having this OST playing while Renalla styled on u was epic.

Hearing the violin from the trailer way softer in this theme made me think.
I read the description from the rememberance and seems like Rellana chose to side with Messmer, which makes me think if the actual violin theme isnt messmer one, or someone very related to him, this would be very good storytelling through song, and I love it
So far, the boss OSTs haven’t conjured as strong of emotions as the base game bosses’ but given a few more dances with the bosses and I know it’ll grow on me
Oh my God, I love the end of this piece of music. The violin (?) and the female vocals merge into a single heart-rending scream, showing that Rellana is giving her all to this fight.

I might be wrong, but the song has that Yuka Kitamura signature to it. The violin / cello duet remind me a lot of Lady Maria’s OST in Bloodborne. It gives the same feeling of dancing back and forth with the boss. I quite like it

I finally did it! She's finally gone! Man the first 2 bosses (dancing lion and Rellana) have set the standards. I hope rest of the bosses will be as good if not better. Knowing fromsoft the next bosses will knock it out of the park!

My jaw dropped when I heard the ost and then saw the second phase. A challenge and a very fun fight.
Wow, the little glockenspiel bit in the second half is great, along with everything else of course... Didn't get much chance to notice it while getting my ass handed to me.
This theme reminds me a bit of maria and a bit of gael. I.e. awesome.

One of my favorite things about watching a Fromsoft trailer for a new game or dlc is wondering and finding out which boss the ost belongs to. I could be wrong, but the ost of the first trailer is very close to this ost.
Fromsoft has done this with prior trailers and bosses.
I love this track and the boss is the definition of style. I died so many times to her and when I finally defeated her it was a trade. Both of us falling to each other's blade. Such elegance and such a beautiful boss fight.

I really wish Rellana had some dialogue and side story attached. Gotta be one of my favorite bosses. Kinda wish she had more plot relevance and an intro cutscene, kind of the Godrick of the DLC.
