They did it a lot. Their later contracts required them to perform it **twice a week** on radio. They grew to hate it. You can hear a little of the contempt they have for it by this point. Costello in particular is going through the motions - rushing thru.
I never saw this as a kid. Because I grew up in England, I only saw British comedy, like Morecombe and Wise and the Two Ronnies. I only discovered this absolute gem when I watched Rain Man. Since then, I've tried to see it in its fullest form. I heard that there's a 13-minute version, but I haven't seen it yet. This one is the best I've seen so far, though. Thanks so much for posting it.
Comedy that’ll NEVER be duplicated OR repeated !! One of THE best comedy teams !! The originality from a long ago era !! I STILL lmfao when I watch this skit !!
If it wasn’t for “Rain Man” I would never have found out about them ! It’s 2024 and at the age of 29 it’s my first time knowing about them because I never watched Rain man till tonight and I loved their skit scene on the movie and now I’m watching all the skits the have available on CZcams
You know,..... sometimes I imagine other great comedy duos like Laurel and Hardy, dean martin and jerry lewis, richard pryor and gene wilder, and even cheech and chong saying this bit. But i gotta tell ya, NOTHING sounds better than the real thing performed by the originators of this skit,Abbott and Costello.
9 comments you deserve at least 11❤. So when these two clowns were working back in the day. Who's on first. I think I saw that in a pilot episode. However. There were guys on the 2nd and 3rd Base. And as the umpire told me don't block your exits. As a pitcher for a winning team. Hypothetically speaking😮. Those guys were running in for an RBI. It apparently was not a great idea for me to make that pitch but I did anyway. One guy slid out on the right one guy slid out on the left. Everybody got tagged that day. Nice act. And the two fellas that were on second and third base I apologize for that hell of a game. In a field of dreams may we meet again. Excellent plays all the way through . Very entertaining. I'm retired now. Never did care much for baseball you should look up where that actually came from. Where is quarterback story. I don't do soccer lol. Because a quarterback is The gentleman with the the football correct? And if you didn't attend the game with the deep fakes as they are these days. Are you absolutely sure that that was the quarterback that dropped the football while you are watching it on TV armchair quarterback in this shit show 🤔🧠🇺🇲🐕🦺😎 personally I'm going with the dog at this point Swiss Belgian malinois you can't beat it. Don't beat me up or yourself trying. And don't be a wiener be a winner❤🙏👍💪🖕🎯🥱
NOT written by Joe Besser. Taken from a play in 1908 (Besser was 1yr old) & revised by Irving Gordon & Sidney Fields. Yep. THAT Mr. Fields. Look it up.❤
@roscoearbuckle2 Sid Fields has been credited with writing the glorious "Niagara Falls/Slowly I Turned" sketch, too. It's also been attributed to Joey Faye.

Decades pass by and this sketch remains one of the best ever. Simply perfect.
Still the absolute best comedy routine ever written and incredibly presented!

This routine is 86 years old and still it is original and fresh, First performance was on ‘The Kate Smith Hour’ March 20, 1938.
This is timeless comedy. Genius-level gold.
This never gets old...truly a classic
This never gets old
I’ve been listening to this routine for over 30 years. Even though I know it, I still laugh at every punchline.
They were great, there half hour show on TV is the best ever. Hard to believe it was done in the 50's. RIP MY BOYS 🙏🙏
Hands down the best comedy routine of all time.
Dumb. And not funny. Theyare the 2 more stooges. Not funny.
Brilliant ! This is the absolute most funniest comedy routine that I have ever heard in my 66 years!
So great to see the full version of this!!
Greatest comedy routine ever. Their timing was impeccable
Absolutely geniuses. Real talent. Gone forever.

Greatest actors of their time.
The crazy thing about this routine is that when they did one they did it right tough the first time without rehearsaling
Never gets old.
He sure does.
One of the best pieces in comedy!
Awesome comedy. Never goes out of style. Decades later.

Priceless! 💯🗽🇺🇸
This is beyond brilliant!!!
Then when the routine was over they went behind stage, had a stiff drink, and were like “we nailed that” 😎👍
great clean fun. How funny, a classic

If I was Castello I would’ve just asked Abbot to give them nicknames or just choose what to call them, so that nobody gets confused!
A Classic!!!!
6:08 you can here a little kid laughing, hehe.
2:04. These guys were so funny.
Their films were clean comedy.
Who?
@@DuniaTrollAnda Naturally.
Best ever!
In nightclubs, the name of the shortstop was NOT "I don't care", it was "I don't give a FUCK"!
The best.
I miss this kind of comedy
THE BEST 👌 COMEDY DUO 😃 EVER
They sound like they’re arguing over a business contract 🤣
Good clean fun
Awesome stuff,
I don't know which is funnier -- that Lou simply doesn't catch on; or hearing Bud repeating himself.
Morecambe and wise were big fans and you can see were they got their curtain back drop from.
My brain at 3Am instead of going to bed😂
Classic!!!!
and hillarious!
the best comrdy team ever
Although performing a shorter version, the routine is far sharper and funnier on their very first film, One Night in the Tropics
EPIC
This passed as funny back in the day. Amazing

Who is here after Rainman?
“It’s comedy Ray, if you got that maybe you wouldn’t be like you are….”
Does anyone else hear echoes of Joe Pesci's "Funny? Funny how?" When Bud starts to get really irate?
If you're hearing props you're just that old or live next to an airport
Classic
7:54 😂😂😂
I am wondering how many times the sorter person keeps hitting himself in the head more than once, that gotta hurt, not sure where the bruise is
But there's no right fielder?

Written by failed Stooge Joe Besser. He was a regular on the Abbott and Costello tv show and wrote this routine for A&C.
